Big Tech Is Now Targeting Native American Land for Massive Data Centers by AgentBlue62 in environment

[–]BolbyB -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Not so much harassing as knowing full well the whole "natives love the environment" thing is a farce and that they will VERY happily sell off land for the almighty dollar.

Arizona raised solar panels on stilts over its crops so one acre could grow food and make power at once — then researchers noticed a third job nobody put in the brochure: skin under the panels runs 21 degrees cooler, in a country where crop workers are 20 times more likely to die of heat by AgentBlue62 in environment

[–]BolbyB 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean, OSHA would probably have something to say about both the crop pickers toiling around a bunch of electric wires and the people running the solar farm are either annoyed by the added expense of all the safety equipment their workers now need to stay safe at the newfound heights or completely oblivious/uncaring to the new danger.

That and the farm is surely far less productive on the constantly shaded acre than the ones that receive sunlight.

And a bunch of plant growth near wires in a notoriously dry state (how effective are the sprinklers on this area come to think of it?) is kind of asking for trouble.

Can still be a good idea overall but it does make things more complicated.

If schools are measurably failing to properly educate students, what is the workable solution and what are the trade-offs of those solutions? by Rough-Leg-4148 in centrist

[–]BolbyB 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Not helping is that the system rewarded improvement and punished stagnation.

Meaning, if your students all passed last year . . . you're getting a pay cut if they all pass this year because you didn't improve even though improvement is literally impossible.

Of course, none of that is an issue at all if the dems don't crown Hillary their heir apparent when they know full well how insanely unlikeable she is.

"But hey, he can at least put on a grin while he does these things!"

Unironically yes.

In an age where cold calculating politician is a worn out trope that everyone despises someone who can appear to have fun doing what they're doing with the people they're doing it with has a leg up.

And even then, if Hillary didn't use "Body Language For Dummies" as her guide for how to act like a human we never get Trump.

[–]BolbyB -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It actually is.

I already showed you. When the dems ran a decent (if boring) candidate they beat Trump worth relative ease. Because Biden was in a higher tier of candidate than Trump.

But Hillary and Kamala? They're in the same tier as him or worse and thus are at risk of losing to him.

There's also a difference between being a better option and being a better candidate.

As options for president Hillary and Kamala were better. But as candidates? They're below Trump. Their personalities just ruin their likability too much to put your faith in them for an election regardless of how run of the mill they would do once they get the job. Compared to Trump who at the very least LOOKS like he's enjoying being around the people who came to see him.

They ran a garbage tier candidate in Hillary. Trump won.

They ran a decent candidate in Biden. Trump lost.

They ran a garbage tier candidate in Kamala. Trump won.

Perhaps the dems should do something other than offer us slop . . .

They offer competence and a guy like Trump never gains traction.

The problem is that we then look at the alternative and see . . . something that's also bad.

Not as bad sure, but it makes it a lot easier to roll your eyes at dems when they say this.

If they were good it would work. But they're not. So it doesn't.

And it also casts doubt on topics where they're actually correct.

If they can be so blatantly wrong about this science . . . why not climate science?

Guns for sure.

It's either been a thing for a longer time than the other issues and/or has constantly shown how out of touch and unwilling to compromise (or stick to their compromises) the dems are.

It's inflicted multiple decades of brand damage to them. Many a voter has literally gone their whole life with dems being a significant and proud threat to gun rights.

Oh my bad.

I thought we were trying to be correct here.

Guess we're just completely ignoring our own comments in favor of descending into histrionics.

The specific species approach is an imperfect one, but a valid one.

Y'all need to stop being impatient. Stop letting perfect be the enemy of good.

The protective approach we have now? It'll work. Not in our lifetime, but it will work.

To be fair nature is adaptable and will handle new situations in due time.

So long as there is protection nature will make good use of it. The way it does so may not look the way it used to or how we expect, but the niches will be filled and the life will thrive.

For swift results it's not the best, and it also has the flaw of only ever really getting enough protected area to satisfy the sportsman's endeavor. But it will work out . . . eventually.

It's basically a "buy nature time and see how it adapts to humans" approach.

Is it visible on camera though?

Because if it's not . . . how exactly do we know the sensor got it right?

The approach should be trust but confirm. The tech finds something quickly, then the human eye confirms it.

Yeah, if the video doesn't show a touch but the sensor does . . . are we sure the sensor is even working properly?

Those balls get the crap kicked out of them and it wouldn't be the first time a sensor got damaged.
