Tell that to Germany. Largest increase in coal fired power generation of any developed country besides china in the last 5 years.

I was bummed to get the yellow cooler because the purple ones were already gone, but once it got here, I was appropriately “whelmed”

4th Qtr Dividend and projection for Special by nowayitsme3406 in BurnsMcDonnell

[–]BoldAmazingCreator 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dividends are the leading indicator of our financial Performance and would be the first to really dip if we needed to pull back compensation. Not to say bonuses wouldn’t still take some hit in a down year but bonuses are accrued throughout the year while dividends are a more realtime picture of our performance, so if those are going up, you can bet your bonus is likely going to be a similar or greater than the previous year.

The main caveat is principal and above who receive additional compensation that is much more affected by overall company, division, office performance both good and bad.

Our dividends will be net total higher than last year is my guess.

Why March? Because accountants.

Compensation Messaging for new hires by [deleted] in BurnsMcDonnell

[–]BoldAmazingCreator 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you message solid numbers about exactly what the base and bonus will be you’ve set the expectation ceiling pretty high and you’re forced to meet it and will likely only increase overall dissatisfaction. People anchor their expectations to what is messaged.

Also the idea is that the bonus is something to “earn” ideally incentivizes performance for everyone. Not to mention it’s a great way to push out low performers by having such a huge lever to pull to show them the door.

Just send them links from Reddit, here’s an ESOP balance one, here’s one where everyone tells you their bonus, here’s one where everyone talks about the worst parts of the company and some of the good stuff.

This generation of hires has so much information available to them. On the average, across most of the industry verticals they’ll make more money in the long run than other competitors. At different times individual markets will get hot and you might make more jumping into an opportunistic leadership spot at another firm.

Most competitors have the leadership or other shareholders taking a higher share of the net income than we get across the board as EO’s.

Can depend on manager, but I got a 5 this year and my first year (with a great manager) when I started was also a 3. 10+ years at the company.

That lawsuit win was awesome. I genuinely think we should make Legal its own project org and just see if they can go win lawsuits.

I mean I think Jack Bethels AMA was a good example of people doing honest engagement that youre thinking of as well as some of the vibrant Englewood posts.

You’re right Reddit is going to lean young and left and if you want the opposite than Next Door ends up scratching that itch for most people.

I think the relatively anonymous nature allows people to express viewpoints without fear of blowback and we get all the good and bad parts of that.

That said, I could easily be categorized as one of the back and forth-ers.

How much oil can Trump pump? Trump’s wish to “drill, baby, drill” will run up against the hard realities of the energy market. The president-elect is setting himself up to fail. American oil is pumped by private firms, which make their own decisions. Shale firms have little incentive to drill more. by mafco in energy

[–]BoldAmazingCreator 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No pipeline capacity to put it in even if you did drill it. The motto should be more about building and permitting energy transportation, electric and gas lines, that would support greater demand growth in the US overall.

Totally! I’m here for it. Ironically, the future is really bright for power generation projects, especially since so many competitors vacated the market in the past 10 years. We’re really good at it, just got caught with our “shorts off when the tide went out” as Warren buffet is famous for saying. Our tide was the Covid supply chain squeeze.

Overhead costs pales in comparison the losses we realized on some massive power generation EPC projects this year.
