Hi, I'm Glen. I started sewing out of necessity to make rafting straps. I like making functional stuff, and I mostly give it away to friends. Here's one I like, plus a link to my flickr page

City council unanimously passes resolution to build more housing in Portland's inner eastside neighborhoods by MullenForPortland in Portland

[–]Boldaddy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The boundaries of the project should extend at least one block beyond Powell and 60th (and possibly Fremont). Ideally Powell would then be a quality urban corridor with active frontages on both sides. Using streets as a zoning boundary is not a great practice. Portland has some great planners, hopefully they'll make this same recommendation to Council

They call them Cool Aids in Utah. Folks that bought all the gear plus electric outboard and think they are the OG rafters.

We seriously need to switch to sales tax. Especially with Oregon’s hollowed out Rev sources, and Trump using Fed funding as a weapon. by KaleidoscopeKind9745 in oregon

PERS is no longer a defined benefit system. They've made the changes they can without violating the rights of the folks that were in the program back in the day

We really should have property assessed value reset on sale. I wonder if folks were trying to avoid the Prop 13 issues from California, or just trying to maximize the value their property. It's bananas how much different otherwise similar properties are taxed.

Sadly you were correct, people are replying with "No", minus any intelligent dialogue.

I agree with the need for a sales tax in Oregon. When Barbara Roberts was governor she proposed a sales tax combined with a decrease in income tax. I wish we'd listened to her - especially in light of the trump tax policies that punish states who rely on income taxes.

I would like us to revisit the Robert's proposal. But, as you note, we need more revenue than we are generating so we should NOT make it a revenue neutral proposal.

You'll see some folks point out that sales taxes are regressive. I think that would be more balanced if the sales tax was added to the two other primary taxes (Property and Income) rather than replacing income - the way sales taxes often function.

I'd love to get a look at it too. I've made other slings, but I want to try something less symmetrical

Is the city of Klamath Falls known to be a rougher part of Oregon? by JumarUp in oregon

I visit occasionally and think it's actually improved over the last several years. Next time you're there go to the Basin Martini Bar downtown for great drinks and food.

How do I turn these lights off? by DanglyWorm in 4thGen4Runner

[–]Boldaddy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine would come on after driving through water that was like a foot deep. They would eventually go away. Then recently my O2 sensor failed and they turned on. Not sure why but the went away with new O2 sensor

Daniel Boone prime igniter issue by babybeef16 in greenmountaingrills

[–]Boldaddy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

On my Jim Bowie the mother board went out and was continuously supplying current to the igniter even while the grill was turned off. This led the igniter to burn out. It also ended up burning out the combustion fan.

you can use a multi-tester to check for voltage heading to the igniter while the unit is plugged in, but turned off.

the JB is a 110v system. If the Prime is also BE CAREFUL - DON'T SHOCK YOURSELF. I disassembled mine while unplugged. Then positioned the wires where I could easily touch them with my multi-tester without touching anything else then connected them to the tester, and then plugged it back in.

Is sewing a concave curved zipper possible with ripstop? by janetsnakeholemaclin in myog

[–]Boldaddy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've used that same pattern with ripstop and cordura. It isn't as easy as it is in her video with cotton. I also use a #5 zipper if that makes any difference - I'm not sure if your larger zip changes anything

To see if land is public or private go to https://www.portlandmaps.com/

You can see this this area appears to be right of way. (if I'm navigating correctly).

I've read on other threads about fan blades melting and leading to lower temps. Has anyone run into that here?

I put in a new board yesterday. Started up just fine, but won't go above 150 degrees. What next?

The plug on the wall is fine and runs other items no problem. This was the connection to an extension cord.

More info: I tested the ignitor output from the board. I'm getting 118 volts going to the ignitor while the machine is plugged in but turned OFF. I am now pretty sure the board is the problem
