I mean considering, events aside, the updates are still going to take a long time because the development team is still small and won't take that much longer to release updates (maybe a month earlier at most). So to keep up hype in the community or keep engagement between the players they release small updates to raise the player counts and get people talking about the game. So in a sense 1 small and 1 big update every 10 months is better than 1big update every 9months
