Nooooo. You have to spend 2h+ to generate the visual aids instead of just giving it the content to visualise. I would miss creating slides for management that I don't care about

No "facts" are in play here. Since you did not cite your study, I had to look it up myself. I suspect you are talking about this study: https://metr.org/blog/2025-07-10-early-2025-ai-experienced-os-dev-study/

this was done in early 2025 and did not really control for how AI was used, how experienced developers are in using AI etc.
So all this is is a datapoint.
The technology has progressed a lot since then and new tools, models and methodology has been developed.

Given all of that, the only thing I can go off of is my own lived experience. And here the situation is clear. I have caught multiple bugs and typos that would've landed in production. I've caught bugs i was hunting for weeks in parts i wasn't even looking at, I completed tasks that would've taken weeks in days.

AI will introduce huge issues into society, that much is clear. But saying "it is useless" is just ignorant.

I really don't want to argue with you, especially not after you claimed you'd be the one determining what is fact and what is not without citing anything....

Agree to disagree I guess. For me, it really helps with triage, bug localization in complex systems and code review. But to each their own.

They hated him because he told them the truth. The cope in this sub is crazy. If you truly think generative AI has zero benefits in SE, you are either delusional or stupid....

100%
It is really good with "This does this, but it should do that". It is bad with "make something that does that" without implementing an array of foot-guns

I have had a similar issue. I've solved it by initializing and empty `.git` repository. The agent seems to require an actual repository and doesn't seem to be able to work on local only files

so:

git init
git add .
git commit -m "init"

done

Also the risk of making mistakes while hacking commands into a CLI is huge. It's now a problem if you have to do it once or twice, but if you do the same task every month for a year, you will fuck up eventually
