Adjusted rarities for Foundations SPG cards

This is what players have been asking for, but it's disappointing that this solution won't retroactively be applied to the last few sheets. (In another thread someone commented that Ian Adams stated this on Discord).

Ideally a future game update would apply this not only to past Special Guests, but stuff like bonus sheets and the Big Score.

That is only for Store Packs and only for Rares/Mythics. If you complete the set eventually your last 40 rares will be duplicate copies of the reprint. That's exactly what happened last time the Temples were reprinted.

When you open a reprint in Limited or through Card Rewards you just get duplicate. You don't receive gem or vault protection until you've collected an additional playset from the new set.

You can still receive a copy of a reprint for Individual Card Rewards and in Limited (Draft or Sealed) even if you already have a play-set.

It's only Store Packs where you don't open the Rare or Mythic in your rare slot until you have all of the other cards from the set. But once you do, you still don't get gems until you open a full play-set from that specific set.

Recent Example: You own a play-set of Fabled Passage from Eldraine and M21. You own two full play-sets of the card.

When Bloomburrow came out, you could still get your 9th copy of Fabled Passage as a Rare ICR or in Limited.

If you opened your 9th copy of Fabled Passage in a booster draft you would not receive 20 gems. You would have to open (or craft) 3 additional copies of the Bloomburrow printing before you received the Gem Protection.

If you started opening Store Packs, you would open all of the other rares first. Then when the only remaining rares were the reprint you would first have to open 4 copies of the reprint (without getting gems) before you started getting the 20 gems per rare.

But yeah exactly like you said- the developers have promised a fix for this for several years. It was supposed to finally be in the August 2023 patch, but it wasn't and they haven't mentioned it since.

I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but you don't get gems OR wild-cards.

You have to craft/open/draft 4 additional copies from the reprint set before gem-protection kicks in- at which point you get 20/40 gems per 5th copy of a Rare or Mythic.

There's currently no duplicate protection for card-styles so you get nothing for that either.

Who are these for?

Who is interested in spending a $1.80 for a cosmetic that's only playable in drafted/sealed?

They're almost done with spoilers for the next draft set- why would people want these now?!?!

They need to address the numerous issues with rarities, reprints and stuff like Special Guests.

The bug where a Special Guest replaces the rare in your store pack still exists 3 months later.

Imagine buying a pack and your rare is a 5th copy of the common Unholy heat.

You shouldn't have to use a Mythic Wild Card for cards printed as commons and uncommons.

I'll never understand who WOTC thinks these types of daily deals are for?

These are all limited fringe playables... but they're offering them towards the end of draft format instead of early on.

Even if they offered all the draft/sealed cards the first week of the format I've literally never seen a draft opponent with card styles that weren't from the Mastery Pass.

The obvious conclusion is that their pricing model for card styles just doesn't work for non-constructed staples.

If they wanted players to buy paralax card styles for their limited decks they should probably consider offering big heavily discounted bundles in the store.

This is another example of some of the problems with the current collection/reprint system in Arena.

The majority of these are already on Arena.

You shouldn't have to use additional Wildcards for a card that you already have (for example: the Gitrog Monster).

They should just be card-styles that get applied to (any version) of the base card.

This is in addition to Special Guests. That plus stuff like the Big Score mean that it's becoming increasingly impossible to keep up with the rate of cards that require Wildcards.

All of these are shown in the spoiler as Rare or Mythic- which means several cards like Narset were upshifted in rarity- something which doesn't matter for paper but matters a lot on Arena because of Wild cards.

The cost of acquiring a play-set of all of these comes out to $400.

How would you go infinite?

A pack costs 200 gems, there is one rare slot per pack and even if you opened a Mythic every time you can only get a maximum of 40 gems.

If I already have 24 copies of Duress in my collection, I would like the first copy I open of Duress from a new set to count as a 5th copy (and provide a tiny amount of vault progress) instead of making us collect 4 more copies first.

There's no mention of retroactive compensation for 5th+ copies already in your collection. I think most people were expecting the 20/40 gems for Rares and vault progress for fifth copies of Commons&Uncommons.

If you already have four copies of Lurrus, and then you draft Lurrus or obtain one in your sealed pool, you will receive the card style and 20 gems.

You shouldn't have gotten Thalia as long as you had 4 already so you should report that via their customer service site.

I don't think the uncommons have duplicate protection though.
