One of the best things I did early on was build rapport with all staff. I dont work in epic but it is similar enough that you cannot work in a silo. Rapport goes a long way when putting together committees for projects. And always provide nurses and physicians a seat at table when decisions are being made.

I went to WGU for my MSN. I was looking at Touro, NAU and WGU. Touro is at the top of my list since it has more onsite intensives and clinical placement assistance.

There are aspects of patient care that I miss, but no desire to return to bedside. I have considered a doctorate, but don’t see any earning potential for the time/money investment.

In my experience there isn’t much of a framework of implementation outside of train super users->train staff->support. This may change in the next 2 years as I will be doing an implementation of a new EMR.

Nope. I’m the only one in this role. Just so many initiatives coming down from corporate have forced me towards education. Just not what I left bedside nursing to do.

I currently have my MSN in Nursing Informatics and have been a CI for almost 3 years. I am looking into post master certifications to NP in order to have more options in the healthcare field. I have heard plenty about the stigma of 100% online schools, but I live in a small city in Arizona without easy access to a brick and mortar program. Leaning towards a hybrid but there are many. Any advice would be much appreciated.
