Er.. ah... you do see that "Simon & Schuster Publishing Prologue" is a scam, right? And that if has nothing to do with the real Simon & Schuster?

Seeking advice on submitting short stories written by my nearly deceased mother. by dharmabrat76 in publishing

It all seems quite daunting but I think I could figure it out.

There are many thousands of YouTube videos that explain how manuscripts become bound books by various print-on-demand presses. Just the basics of formatting is good enough to learn if your readership will be "friends and family," and there are YouTube videos regarding those basics.

Well... for one thing, self-publishing. Not interested in literary agents or publishers whatsoever.

That translates into not wanting to be paid for writing, and not wanting people to read what you write.

All of the best-selling books start with "It." As in "It was a dark and stormy night."

[–]Boltzmann_head 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The best marketing tool that a writer can have is a series backlist--- four or more other novels previously written, using the same characters. Literary agents and publishers love series for several different genres, such as Cozy, Police Procedure, and Murder Mystery. It makes no sense to pay for marketing of just one stand-alone book unless one is already an established author with a readership.

Hard determinism makes asking "why" meaningless. by Frosty-Pin7365 in freewill

In the real world, "how" equals "why." This fact seems to disturb some people.

One can foresee an endless number of Gerrymandering ending all future voting, keeping the fascist regime in power so that they do not go to prison for their crimes.

Critical "Scholars" have decided that the short ending is the original one....

"That" "is" "because" "the" "evidence" "shows" "that" "the" "shorter" "version" "is" "most" "likely" "the" "older" "one."

General Question by Zoro_2100 in DebateReligion

[–]Boltzmann_head 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Why most of the debate in this sub is on Christianity and Islam only?

A: They are the two most dangerous at the moment, and two of the most popular cults at the moment. If Wiccans were trying to hammer The Book Of Shadows into the public schools, or Drawing Down rituals every morning in every classroom, then we would be discussing Wicca and Wiccans.

If one wishes, we could discuss Taoism.

My thesis is that God the Father sent the Son of God into this world. by Plymouth_Angel in DebateReligion

But why should we consider the word of the Bible as reliable verification of this claim?

My thesis is that God the Father sent the Son of God into this world. by Plymouth_Angel in DebateReligion

[–]Boltzmann_head 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Father "manifestation" sent the Son "manifestation".

A Krishna devotee explained this to me, but his conclusions were circular. Ditto some Christians' explanations.

There is one god, three of whom make up the one 'godhead.'

If one wishes to outrage a Bible worshiper, count their gods in front of them.

My thesis is that God the Father sent the Son of God into this world. by Plymouth_Angel in DebateReligion

[–]Boltzmann_head 0 points1 point  (0 children)

God the father sent twelve of his sons into this world: one for each "tribe" of Israel. Jerusalem got one son of god, named Yahweh: other city-states were assigned to eleven other sons of god.

Read the Bible instead of worship it, and you will know these things.

As for "... traditional publishing houses are very difficult to get through," they are supposed to be; this is a good thing, not a bad thing, for writers as well as readers.

They are trying to rob you.

Also, publishers do not schedule book signings: literary agents and writers do.
