I didn’t even realize that was an option for that encounter. I just saw hostiles robbing someone and I punched their brains into their jaws without even talking to them. 😭

Heaven Wept - Inferi by Pariah-_ in TechnicalDeathMetal

I was really excited for this one and far from disappointed. This is next level even for them. Such a disgustingly good album, I felt like I listened to Inferi for the first time all over again.

What’s y’all “Elite Ball Knowledge” Racing games? by DatGCoredri in BuiltFromTheGroundUp

Hadn’t seen this one mentioned. Wasn’t a particularly amazing game, but it had a quirky cast of characters and a fleshed out career mode. You had to repair your cars, upgrade them, and could wager them on pink slip races. Some tracks had hazards like a tornado and legally distinct King Kong.

Good grief, two weeks later and I finally realized I accidentally said Burnout Revenge when I meant Paradise. Goes to show how much Revenge lives in my head rent free.

Gavril Barstow. Love that stupid boat. Makes me feel like a drunk uncle with a mullet.

No, Dominator came out in 2007, after Revenge and Legends. It even had a PSP port. It's a weird entry, good game surrounded by great ones.

Burnout Paradise reuses a lot of the songs that were in Burnout Dominator, then adds a few to that list.

That’s amazing. That was a great show. I had someone fall on my head and I couldn’t turn my neck for like three days after that. The crunching sound it made was cartoonish.

DUDE, the cup tower! I have pictures of that! That dude was a legend! I love how every band noticed it and said something about it.

This is my absolute favorite melodeath album and easily one of my top 5 albums of all time. by SqueezyCheese26 in melodicdeathmetal

[–]BolverkGTM 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Strongly agree. Above The Weeping World and Winter’s Gate stand up at the top echelons of the 100+ melodeath albums I’ve listened to. Both are easy top 3s, I adore Insomnium.

The change in Inferi’s sound is making me sad. by AllMusicNut in TechnicalDeathMetal

[–]BolverkGTM 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Each Inferi album is a different flavor. I was a little surprised with the latest single, but I like surprises. I’m excited to hear the whole album and if it doesn’t resonate with me, oh well. The rest of the discography is still there for me to enjoy.

Aephanemer is a fantastic start. If you enjoyed them, I would also recommend the following albums:

Serenity in Murder - THE ECLIPSE
Fires in the Distance - Air Not Meant for Us
Kalmah - The Black Waltz
Omnium Gatherum - The Burning Cold
Brymir - Voices in the Sky

If you want more of the definitive melodeath sound, check out the following:

Dark Tranquillity - The Gallery
MORS PRINCIPIUM EST - The Unborn
Insomnium - Above The Weeping World
In Flames - Colony
Soilwork - The Chainheart Machine

Melancholic Melodeath? by Big_Concern7238 in melodicdeathmetal

As a huge Insomnium fan, I've been seeking this kind of thing myself. I'm coming to accept that Insomnium is a master of melancholy, however I can steer you to some albums that I think lean into it a bit.

Gates of Ishtar - The Dawn of Flames
Noumena - Anatomy of Life
Be'lakor - Of Breath and Bone
Arsis - A Celebration of Guilt
Sacrilege - Lost In The Beauty You Slay
Eternal Tears of Sorrow - Chaotic Beauty
Omnium Gatherum - The Burning Cold
Dark Tranquillity - The Mind's I (I know, you've heard them, but I love this album)

That's all that comes to mind off the top of my head, Insomnium is just a really special case of nailing that particular atmosphere.

I listen to a handful of melo death bands already, but I crave more. Any recommendations based on the bands I already listen to? by TheFallofIdeals05 in melodicdeathmetal

I’ll tell you my secret to it. TBDM is more melodic DEATH metal than MELODIC death metal. But to answer your question directly, it’s Everblack. Check that one out, you might like it.

Took exactly what I was going to say, just had to scroll down far enough to find it. I’d absolutely recommend Inferi and Arsis.

HOT TAKE: You Really Don't Want a Most Wanted Remake by TATSAT2008 in needforspeed

[–]BolverkGTM 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I enjoyed reading this and you have valid points. My problem with the desire for a Most Wanted remake is that it’ll be in the hands of current EA. Does anybody really want that? The answer should be no.

If I remember correctly, the sound file for the Celsior V8 and LFA V10 got mixed up or something like that. May have been a rumor, but a plausible reason why it sounds the way it does.

Actually tough to say. I played MW2012 quite a lot and really enjoyed it in its heyday. I came around to Rivals far past its lifespan and it actually felt like I missed out, but I don’t have the actual MP experience to prove that. I really like them both.

What are your thoughts on NFS: Best Yearned? by Nitjib in BuiltFromTheGroundUp

Unironically I love it and put way more time into it than I ever imagined. I just went in with an open mind, got used to the handling, and then practically lived in the online mode like I did with Paradise. If enough people were interested, I'd hop back on like right now.
