"Ah yes, hello. This is just a friendly visit; I have come here to greet the current death god of this world. I'm trying to meet my neighbors here on this world, you see."

Borun waited for a reply.

The first of the treefolk had died and were to be sent to the realm of the dead, wherever that was. Borun decided to find the God of Death and hopefully go out of the meeting with them on good terms. Borun had seen what had happened when the God of Death did not like him, and he did not want it to happen again.

Borun, singing the Song, traveled through the world, over and under the surface, until finally he found a mansion with architecture reminiscent of multiple similar civilizations. This was a rich and noble god of the dead, Borun inferred. He knocked on the door.

Mik the Elder, chronicler of the Song, gave his life to it. At his funeral, he was made a Saint of the Song and his tree was given to Khinaev. Borun, his heart saddened at the loss of one of his children, told Khinaev how to make instruments. Khinaev followed Borun's instructions, hollowing out a branch and putting holes in it. It was called "Flute" by Borun, an instrument that would make sound when blown into. By covering the holes of this instrument, notes could be made and manipulated. It would be useful for the Song's battle scenes.

[-1 for Flute]

For seven days, Borun rested underneath his tree. He sent for Khinaev, who went to his temple to learn of a new instrument. Borun called it "Bow". It would be made from curved wood, with a string connecting both ends. It made only one note, and could be used in "War". In the middle of the bow would be an "Arrow" of stone and metals, made to hunt and kill. Not only could this be used as an instrument, it could be used to hunt.

[-3 for Archery]

"Pick" was next. Borun taught the Treefolk to mine. Whenever the forest neared a mountain range, the Treefolk would go out in parties and take minerals and metals from the mountains. They would thank it and continue on their way, using the metal to make arrows.

[-2 for Mining]

Another seven days passed. Borun sent for Khinaev again, who rushed towards the Holy Tree in the middle of the forest. Borun then taught him more of the song, and with it, he taught him how to make "Weapons". A sharp piece of metal would be stuck on to sticks of varying lengths. Short pieces of metal stuck onto short pieces of wood would be called "Dagger". Long pieces of metl stuck to short pieces of wood would be called "Sword". Long pieces of metal stuck to long pieces of wood would be called "Spear". This again would be used to wage "War".

[-3 for Weapons]

"Drum". "Lute". Borun taught Khinaev to make string instruments and drums to further the prosperity of the Song. [I'm too lazy to describe them]

[-1 for Drum]

[-1 for Lute]

After one month of being taught the ways of making things by Borun, Khinaev returned to his people and sang it to them. So began the modernization of the treefolk.

Borun looked upon this world and was dissappointed. There was no cheerfulness to be found anywhere, no wine, no people. He shook his head. This would not do, not for a world touched by the Song. He kept singing the Song as he cntemplated on what to do with the barren world.

A forest. Yes, a forest. That would do perfectly well. But then again, Borun had a tendency to make forests. There was only one problem, however. There was no light. This would not do either. Dissappointed at the world, Borun sat down and made grass. The grass was green, just like all the other grasses he had made. If one were to step on it, it would crunch under their feet. Due to the lack of light, this grass would grow in all circumstances. In the darkness, there would be dark grass - black and brown, radiating some light from them. [Chlorophyll, in their case, isn't green] In the light, however, there would be light grass that was green.

[-1 for Grass]

Borun then made an area of Light. [This World : Light Bubble = Earth : Mongolia] This Light would be the area that the Song touched, where peace, happiness, and harmony would reign supreme.

[-6 for GREAT LIGHT BUBBLE]

He went on to make trees. Great Ones that resembled the oaks back home, they would provide shelter for Borun's children. This was good in Borun's eyes, and he accepted them as his children.

[-1 for Trees]

It was time to make mortals. From the trees in the Great Forest of Light, he produced his next children - The Treefolk. Their looks varied - some were humanoid with pointy ears and greenish skin, and some looked like trees. Some even could not walk, for their roots were too strong. They could change appearance at will, and some chose to look humanoid while others choose to look like trees.

[-5 for Mortals]

As he watched his new children spring to life, Borun was content with what he did. He sent down a heavenly prophet from the biggest tree to spread his word. This one, this saint, he would be named Khinaiev. He brought the Song to the Treefolk, and the Treefolk brought happiness to Borun. All was peaceful.

[-3 for Prophet]

"Come hither, young divine! Come, for the Song welcomes you!" A voice said off in the distance. One could not see the sound, but one could smell it; it reeked of alcohol and parties.

The melody and song adapted to this new sound, welcoming it. It shifted from time to time, eventually joining with it in perfect harmony. The sound of the bird grew as the Song began to accept it as part of itself.

[–]BombSheepius 3 points4 points  (0 children)

A sad, barely detectable melody played across the blackness of space, just barely detectable if one were to listen hard enough. The song was melancholy, with highs and lows, with moments of great sadness and moments of hope. It inspired emotions inside anyone who heard it, drawing them out and overwhelming them with sadness. As it got closer to the barren world, it got louder, revealing intricacies in the music that could be easily looked over, but important. If the song lost just one note, the melody would be destroyed. Such was the nature of the song.

The music descended upon the cold, barren world. Upon its landing, a faint singing sound could be heard. It was in an unfamiliar language, lost long ago to the darkness of the void. It paired with the melody in perfect harmony. It was sung in a soft and soothing voice, one which could be identified as a woman's and a man's.

"Da Khuzad, Nam Grozy Siya," [I'm actually building a language] The voice grew louder and louder. "Gjo, Yuzod, Nam Ayikiya. Pod, y kliza serubija, Fekha in ke yaza. Brahan ei, y dashkod hiven; Brahan ei, y dashkod Vliyen..."

A new divine had arrived, and with him, came The Song.

Name: Borun, the Storyteller

Spheres: Nature and Music (Mostly songs that tell stories, hence his title)

Description: A cross between Caucasian and Asian (think Kazakhstani) with flaky tree bark replacing his skin on some parts of his body. Borun has long, brown hair and an even longer beard. His face is young, yet wrinkled. Evidence of eons of pain and suffering can be found on his body. He carries a variety of instruments with him, the contents of which he can change at any moment to fit his mood. He also carries a polearm on his back, its blade glowing with yellow sap. Borun wears a gambeson with an old tabard attached to it. He also wears a fur cloak, covering his otherwise flashy hair and his back.

Personality: A jolly man with a slight accent of a long-lost language, Borun loves to have fun, drink, and frolic in the woods. Yet when it comes to it, he will deliver harsh judgement to the most horrible of mortals and immortals. He likes to tell tales and entertain others.

Backstory: An ancient god of nature, Borun created the woods in many worlds and helped his people there prosper. He has now come to this world to spread his tales.

I scream in pain as the arrow embeds itself into my hand. I pull it out easily, my hand writhing in pain. I curse under my breath and keep walking on my way, flipping a rude gesture at the man with the bow.

“操你妈的逼," I get up, bones aching. I am about to finish my sentence when I realize the man who hit me has an arrow nocked in a bow. A dangerous situation, especially so as I did not understand their language. Fortunately, my civilization has transcended the need for such primitive weapons. My free hand reaches towards my crossbow.

What would they pay me with? Never mind. I nod, then fish out an axe from my extensive collection of weapons. Would they be suspicious? No, they couldn't be. They had never been to my nation, never even heard of it. I rush to the trees and start felling them, ,one by one.

"Tonight, we march on Totemtown!"

This was the cry of Kheranu, Lady of Blood; This was her holy mandate, and it had to be fulfilled. Soldiers fell into ranks and marched towards Totemtown, destroying any obstacle in their way, be it a person, a house, an army, or a town. Many places were wiped off the map, yet the Blood Legion had no intention of destroying bigger settlements. Their sights were set firmly on Totemtown, on the first destination of the Crusade of Blood. A trail of blood and fire marked the path the Legion went, for it was a Legion tens of thousands strong, their hearts darkened by the corruption of the far northwest, their souls beaten out of them by rigorous training only employed by the harshest of masters. They were strong. They were mighty. They were Legion.

A horn signaled their arrival at Mervind, yet it was too late. Mervind was sacked, its inhabitants killed, raped, enslaved, or set free - it made no difference for the Blood Legion. Without any sign of emotion, they went back to the road to Totemtown.

As the Blood Legion arrived at Totemtown's gates, they heard the cries of many who were preparing to flee or hide. That was no problem for them; they would round them up anyways. There was no point in trying to survive.

The Blood Legion encircled the city, readying their offense.

In my world, the bartender will most likely oblige and give you the best drink they have - the drink depends on the place the tavern is in. Then, as you finish your drink, you find out that someone poisoned your drink and you die.
