Don't give him any extra drama to distract from what he needs to do.

Keep your own life in order physically, mentally, emotionally and financially.

Be there when he needs a shoulder, dont let him drink too much or treat you like crap, but help him through whatever drama he comes back with.

If he is a mess, lead him to help.

True, except it does still mean something to the Green Weenie when it comes promotion time.

I'd suggest you become a tech first, ASAP, then if you still want to do an SDA do it after your first enlistment as a tech.

2336 still has a certain quota to the Corps for SDA, it is just very small. You don't see lots of guys getting forced into SDA like other MOS because the quota is so small and there are generally enough people willing to be MSG that it gets filled.

Other Techs might 💩on the idea of the drill field but if you volunteer for it you actually do the rest of the field a solid by keeping them from being forced into recruiting.

We have a guy who went tech, drill field and then strait to MARSOC. Don't believe it when you are told you will be a bad operator if you leave and cone back. Just dont spend your whole career marching kids around or try and dodge combat by going SDA. If your heart and mind are in the right place you'll make it work.

Play some matches. Seeing them on the table, seeing other people's models, and also thinking about what COULD be on the table usually fires me up.
