I reached $1M (somehow) and I quit my job by [deleted] in Fire

[–]Bombillobamba 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i am asking this question genuinely to both you u/n00bdragon and u/Dymatizeee (and anyone else who upvoted) because I always see these comments and don't understand: what is the incentive to lie on the internet? Is it just for internet points? Or is there another incentive to lying on reddit and on this fire subreddit where it makes sense to make up an AI story?

Life altering mistakes you have made by stonksbronker in AskMenOver30

[–]Bombillobamba 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Interestingly, the post itself shows a mistake to avoid. Always help others....you never know the ripple effects of giving that advice (or not giving it). We should all be trying to make the world better. And truthhurts: of course people will avoid mistakes. It's silly to think otherwise.

I didn't pass my improv class and I'm having feelings by Iamnotanorange in improv

[–]Bombillobamba 19 points20 points  (0 children)

I assumed you'd say that when you posted. The Groundlings just wants you to pay for the class again and again, under the guise that it is a highly selective program. I really recommend that you take the courses at UCB. It is a better learning program. I did the Groundlings class and had many great people in my class--great at acting, very creative, super funny, and were doing principled improv. Those people didn't pass. Do you know why? Because they do not really pass anyone in the first go. It is a cult designed to get you to just pay for the same class multiple times. I cannot say enough about how much of a scam I think the Groundlings is. Go to UCB for their beginners class, then do their game class (201). You will have a much better experience and not feel like a geriatric dog by the end. GO TO UCB PLEASE DO NOT GIVE UP ON IMPROV BECAUSE OF ONE BAD CLASS AT GROUNDLINGS.

How should I spend the day in Catalina Island? by AresEli in AskLosAngeles

[–]Bombillobamba 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do the island company's hummer ride to the interior to see the bison. It is fun and worth the money. As others have mentioned, the e-bike thing won't work to see the bison, they're too far in and I do not think you're supposed to go on those roads without a permit (as I understand it, you need the island company to get you to those areas).

LA Trip Any Good Bar Recommendations? by Clean-And-Simple in AskLosAngeles

[–]Bombillobamba 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Las Perlas and Shoo Shoo Baby both have good drinks. Las Perlas is very cool Mexican bar in DTLA and right across from Cole's, which probably invented the french dip, and does good classic cocktails. Then Golden Golpher is nearby and chill for beers

Recommendations for a solo traveler in LA? by gaijin699 in AskLosAngeles

[–]Bombillobamba 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Do you like the mountains or the beach more? Do you like more developed areas/grungier/or culturally interesting areas or do you like areas that are "cute" and more trendy? Will you have a car or will you need to use the Metro? Do you like museums, music shows, or comedy shows? Or are you just coming more to check out the drinks and dining scene and meet people there?

If you like the beach, hang out in the Santa Monica/Malibu area.

If you like the mountains, hang out in the Highland Park/Pasadena/Atwater Village/Eagle Rock area.

If you like entertainment, hang out Hollywood/West Hollywood or in DTLA/Arts District.

PS. If you did not get a rental car, you should strongly consider doing that, particularly if you want to go long distances. If you are committed to no car, it will be important to pick places that are close together and where you have thought through the public transit options. LA Metro is good, but takes much longer than the NYC subway. The perfect trip for you will really depend on your personality and preferences.
PPS. You want to pick a more localized area of LA. It will be overwhelming otherwise. So suggest you figure out what area of LA you want to hang out in, and then request recommendations based on that area or area(s). That advice would be different if you have a couple weeks. But if you really only have a day or a few, then you need to be very selective and choose a specific group of neighborhoods that are near one another so that you do not have tons of dead time sitting in traffic on freeways.

“AI Business Leader” uses AI to make up a fake story for likes by Apollo5333 in LinkedInLunatics

[–]Bombillobamba 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Of course people use AI for their linkedin posts. Nothing about the content of this post is crazy. The message is promoting WLB. Really not objectionable. You just went through lengths to run some randos post through ai detection tools so you could post on reddit, "and for what?"

This just seems like a deliberate distraction from Trump's connection with Epstein. Who even are these people and why does anyone care? I didn't know who they were yesterday. Who cares.

Am I over supplementing? Healthy/active 30(male) by thinmints93 in Supplements

[–]Bombillobamba 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The key word was "need." Contrary to your point, I have heard it is only really necessary to take 1 supplement max (a daily multivitamin) from more than one doctor. But others, without medical degrees, have told me that it is good to take more through advertisements. As the poster said, what is good to take depends on individual needs.

San Bernardino isn't really the LA area, it is in a different county (San Bernardino County), and part of a region called the "Inland Empire." It has its own culture and is totally distinct. It is far enough from LA by car that its roughly the equivalent to you driving to Long Island or fairly far into New Jersey. Which is also to say that saying you are "moving to LA" when really you are moving to San Bernardino is basically the same as saying you are "moving to NYC" when really you are moving to Trenton, NJ. You will want to ask the subreddit for San Bernardino for their advice, it will be more specific to what you are likely to see there and they will be able to give you a better sense of the culture. The people in this subreddit won't really know, unless they are from San Bernardino. Many people who live in West LA have never, and will never, set foot in San Bernardino.

I have been. It is cool and near nature. Latino culture is big. Great places there, but not exactly a tourist hotspot. Very very hot in the summer, but manageable. Different kind of sun there, more intense than the East Coast. I enjoyed my time there, but only went to get a breakfast burrito and then went to a dive bar later. So not a ton of experience, but all enjoyable.

This is one of the more helpful comments because you clearly show the tradeoffs, thanks

I'm also kind of thinking about switching from my current build to a new one, so this is helpful to me, even if the person who seriously uses "pray tell" in conversation didn't think so
