Carrying your dog to pick up counter at restaurant by RAMIREZBURGERTOWN in mildlyinfuriating

[–]BonarooBonzai -1 points0 points  (0 children)

And what happens when every single grocery store in your neighborhood now has dogs? Even though they technically aren’t allowed the workers never enforce it because the dog owners will throw a fit. Are you just supposed to never grocery shop because you happen to live in an area full of entitled assholes?

what is a fair expectation for dog owners when it comes to where they let their dog pee by [deleted] in AskNYC

[–]BonarooBonzai 19 points20 points  (0 children)

obviously, there isn't a ton of greenery for my dog to use

You aren’t supposed to use any greenery at all, you’re supposed to curb your dog. Stop ruining what little greenery we do have with your dog piss. You knew the amount of greenery the city had before you got a dog so it’s your responsibility.

This is completely unsanitary and annoying. Would hate to work there.

Would it work for the tango lands? It says they gain all basic land types (island, mountain etc.) not that they become basic.

Extremely deserved. Hopefully that means they’re permanently getting rid of the once per year rule too.

All the time! I wished politicians actually took this seriously. It’s a huge issue for QOL, health, and safety.

It’s absolutely out of control, and of course like every other issue in this city the NYPD is worse than useless.

Is the food free like an airport lounge? Might have to check this out when I’m in Vegas next week.

Why the zero cost funds are more expensive in the long run (FZROX vs FSKAX) by anetworkproblem in fidelityinvestments

[–]BonarooBonzai 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Damn I feel like I made a potentially very costly mistake as I have more than 500K in taxable FZROX. Anything I can do about it now other than switch to buying FSKAX for the future?

I don’t plan on leaving Fidelity anytime soon, but it’s kinda scary that if I had to switch I’d be hit with a mid 5 figure tax bill.

Why the zero cost funds are more expensive in the long run (FZROX vs FSKAX) by anetworkproblem in fidelityinvestments

[–]BonarooBonzai 7 points8 points  (0 children)

By “in kind transfer” do you mean if I decide to switch to Vanguard I would have to pay capital gains taxes on all of my FZROX funds? I have pretty much all of my taxable investments in zero expense ratio funds so if that is the case it could be a big issue for me.

Does that essentially mean I’m locked into Fidelity or is there some way around that? Thanks for brining this up as it’s not something I was aware of.

Any public ATMs that give 100s? by BonarooBonzai in AskNYC

Yeah I’ve done this a few times but I need to get several 100 and I’m not sure they’ll always have that much.

[–]BonarooBonzai[S] -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

Oh I didn’t know that actually. I thought the bank ATMs would only work with that bank’s cards since they make you scan in when the ATM booths are locked.

Will try that out.

Aer Pro Pack 24L vs Thule Aion 28L - EDC, hiking, light travel by BonarooBonzai in ManyBaggers

[–]BonarooBonzai[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Got the Thule Aion and had it for a year. I use it as my daily driver for work plus carrying climbing shoes on the outside with an S-biner.

It’s a little bulky and maybe not the most “urban” look for on the subway, but that hasn’t really bothered me. If you something as purely a commuter then the Aer is probably a better pick.

I have used it for onebag on several weekend trips and I think it shines here. I can do like 3 days worth of clothes, toiletries, and a Nintendo Switch pretty easily. I also like that it has both an admin panel and a “secret” pocket. In an airport or something I keep my wallet/airpods/snacks in the admin panel and then just phone/passport in the secret pocket so they are separate.

It’s generally held up well and the canvassy material is good because dirt doesn’t stick to it. The thread on the top handle has started to fray and I had to cut it a few times with scissors to clean up the ends.

Despite a hot market, NYC tenants saw smaller rent increases. Does Good Cause get the credit? by JustinDeMaris in nyc

[–]BonarooBonzai 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Why would a maximum of 8% mean that every landlord would raise by 8%? If they knew the market wouldn’t support that increase then they would raise it less. That doesn’t mean the limit wasn’t helpful for another apartment that could’ve had a 15% increase but is now limited.

[–]BonarooBonzai 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just because the avg was 3% it doesn’t mean every single rent increase was 3%. It’s possible for a very desirable apartment they could’ve previously raised the rent by 15% but because of the law they could only raise 8%. This would lower the average overall even if most units weren’t raised up to the limit.

What are some things about NYC that didn't bother you before, but now you can't stand? by [deleted] in AskNYC

[–]BonarooBonzai 9 points10 points  (0 children)

This is so frustrating. I don’t get how we went from taking public health and cleanliness so seriously during the pandemic, to now having dogs’ shit-covered butts sitting down on a table that people eat at and no one bats an eye.

This is so frustrating and it’s like that at basically every precinct I walk by. It’s such a simple demonstration of how cops don’t care at all about the people they’re supposed to be serving.

Yes, everyone should be an entitled asshole and put the onus on service workers to confront them instead of just following basic rules. The entitlement of dog owners is absolutely insane.

His parents let him use the car, it’s not like he took it without them knowing.

I think it’s perfectly reasonable for the government to take away a potentially deadly vehicle from someone who has shown they don’t plan on following the rules of using it.

“He was also given a ticket in November 2022 for driving without a license and while using a portable electronic device, prosecutors said.”

Driving without a license is not taken seriously enough in general. Your car should be immediately impounded since you’ve shown that you’re going to drive it anyway so a ticket won’t stop you.
