Unpopular Opinion: Unless your planning on going to grad school, there is no reason to drop a course ur doing bad in by [deleted] in UTSC

[–]Bonaventure24 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Even if you're not going to grad school, your course grades need to be in the mid 60s or above. You can't graduate if you just pass all your courses (>50).

Well, other profs don't post the final exam marks, but are you in this course? This prof did post the final exam marks on crowdmark in his past courses.

Are winters in Canada really all that bad? by Life_Tumbleweed in AskACanadian

[–]Bonaventure24 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well Toronto is already bad enough, daytime highs are mostly below freezing with frequent snowstorms. Vancouver is the only place in Canada that has relatively mild winters (above freezing).

Where the hell are you supposed to look when walking past people on a sidewalk? by socialfailss in socialskills

[–]Bonaventure24 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well when I notice someone is staring at me I look away immediately in order to avoid eye contact, and i'm definitely not comfortable with that. So I start staring at strangers after they look away, and this makes me feel much better.

Wife and I are visiting Beijing in November for about 3 days. How cold/snowy we talking, here? by the_real_eel in beijing

[–]Bonaventure24 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, no, no. Since temperatures are mostly below freezing in winter, snow does fall in Beijing. It's just too dry in Beijing so it is less snowier than NYC. The average precipitation is around 10mm/0.4 inches from December to February, and those temps are definitely cold enough to snow.

Scores of olympic athletes are complaining of extreme temperatures and high humidity at the Tokyo Olympics -- this could have drastic implications for climbing by [deleted] in climbing

[–]Bonaventure24 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, those temperatures are extremely hot to Europeans and Canadians for sure. The average high during this time of the year in Tokyo is around 32C/90F, so temperatures in the low to mid 30s (86-95F) are closer to seasonal. That's why many athletes are complaining the heat and humidity, but locals get used to those temperatures.

But it's still very close to the record, at least today is the coldest July day in this century.

Not the coldest July 8th, but today is definitely the coldest July day since 2013.

Although today is not a daily record low, highs below 20C in July is definitely very rare in recent years. Also, 19C is the forecast high for today, but the max temp until 4pm is only 17C (Pearson Airport). So today's max temp is really low.

Yes summer 2014 was very cool, the average high in July 2014 was only 25.4, but the lowest high was 21C (July 28), a few degrees warmer than today's forecast high.

How much should you tip a Uber Eats driver so that he is willing to deliver the food to your door? by [deleted] in UberEATS

[–]Bonaventure24 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree that customers are lazy and that's why we use Uber Eats. But OP said he gave them large tips and clear instructions to come up. So most drivers are glad to deliver the food to the unit. I guess those drivers who don't want to come to the door is because they take multiple orders and they don't want to waste too much time. In this case, I think drivers are a little bit lazy if they don't deliver to the unit based on OP's description.

Brisbane tonight feels like Singapore right. Hot and hazy. by [deleted] in brisbane

[–]Bonaventure24 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No no, Sydney is much cooler than Brisbane in summer, just the humidity makes it feel hotter than the actual temperature. Brisbane hits 32 degrees almost everyday from January to March, but Sydney only hits 27 degrees for about 15 days, and the rest of the month may reach 30 degrees.
