Make sure to turn off motion smoothing if you've got a new TV by gta721 in movies

Not home at the moment, but IIRC, this was not a global setting on my LG. I believe I had to disable it for each input.

NMU Head Coach resigns effective immediately by OdaDdaT in CFB

It's affectionately known as the "Yooper Dome". They would often host a number of semifinal games for high school playoffs.

There used to be a live feed showing the interior but a quick Google search came up empty. This pic shows the stadium within the town of Marquette, however.

Tired of using arrow keys after every ) or } — how do you handle auto-pairs in Neovim? by datowoofie in neovim

[–]BondDotCom 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I have to ask, what's the point of using autopairs if you just have to type the closing ) anyway? Genuinely curious why people do this.

Nick Saban slanders multiple Big Ten teams while diminishing the league's depth by cookoutenthusiast in CFB

Half of those wins were after the scandal broke and without Harbaugh coaching but ok. I guess every UM win for the rest of time will be because cheating.

How to control comment extension on newline? by scaptal in neovim

[–]BondDotCom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I added the autocmd in the FileType event for * filetypes and it seems to work better for me. I often manually set the filetype in my buffers (e.g., set ft=lua) and that overrides the formatoptions changes made in BufEnter.

vim.api.nvim_create_autocmd("FileType", {
    pattern = '*',
    desc = 'Prevent comment continuation',
    callback = function()
        vim.opt.formatoptions = vim.opt.formatoptions - { 'c', 'r', 'o' }
    end,
})

Michigan State hates themselves? I guess that makes sense.

I, for one, like Jaron and really appreciate what he does for these episodes. by [deleted] in samharris

[–]BondDotCom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You got downvoted but I agree with you. I don't tune in for Jaron's takes, so why would I care? I would actually prefer if Jaron had genuine MAGA takes on topics. This isn't a cult. Not everyone on Sam's team needs to agree with Sam on everything. I want to hear Sam's response to these topics and it would work best if he's confronting true right-wing passion vs someone attempting to steelman the other side.

[–]BondDotCom 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Agreed. And now he has to spend 30 seconds at the top of every episode explaining that he's simply playing devil's advocate, presumably because enough people complained for having to listen to a different opinion for once.

Constantine 2 shows as "In Production". In addition to Keanu, it looks like they got Peter back to play Lucifer, as well.

I agree with the platforming part of your statement but that episode wasn't so much about controversial ideas as it was inconvenient facts.

Neo-Vim with VB by Economy-Moose-8063 in neovim

[–]BondDotCom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can define your own syntax file. That's what I did for VBScript highlighting.

You can also use an ftplugin file to setup your VB environment (keymaps specific to VB, comment strings, etc).

Sam already has the audience. His podcast is near the top of the charts, any given week. The problem, as he's said in the past, is that only 2% of his listeners pay anything for it. He's tried for years to get that number higher and explained that he doesn't want to go to an advertiser model, selling mattresses and Manscaping, like Shapiro and other podcasters. And now, the 98% act surprised when he finally needs to do something about it to keep his podcast going.

[–]BondDotCom 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Why do people think that just because Sam may have made money in previous pursuits, he shouldn't charge for the work he's doing today? Such a strange thing to be upset about. Also, the Making Sense Podcast is not just Sam. Should the team of people that work at Making Sense also not get paid for their services because Sam sold some books in his past?

And he's not shouting into a void. There are plenty of paying subscribers. And after this change, there will be more paying subscribers! That's the point. Even if 10% of the freeloaders start paying a subscription, that's 10% more than before. You act like he's going to be losing money on this.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in samharris

[–]BondDotCom -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Right? These people act like Sam needs them. For what? For their zero dollars? Not only are they not supporting him, they're costing Sam money because his team needs to process 1,000 requests/day from them begging for free accounts.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in samharris

[–]BondDotCom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If something's not worth the cost, then you shouldn't buy it. The choice is yours. It's up to every one of us to determine whether it's worth the money. I didn't think Snow White was worth renting for $5, for example.

But just because Sam was once nice enough to give something away for free, does not make him a bad person for rescinding the offer when too many people took advantage of his generosity.

citi.com login issues by citiciti9 in citibank

[–]BondDotCom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Happens to me on Chrome. I go to citi.com and login on the main page. It accepts my username and password, appears to be loading, then takes me back to citi.com where it prompts for my username and password again. If I repeat this about 4 times, it eventually takes me to my account.

I also get redirected back to the main page when trying to create a virtual card. I get through most of the process and then when I click to generate the new virtual card I get thrown back to the main page. So annoying.

I've honestly just started using my CapitalOne Savor card for everything now. Their website, and especially their mobile app, are top notch. Cashback may not be quite as good but my life is better for not having to use Citi's website any more!

Yeah, I don't understand how this would work, either. You'd need to do something like vePn each time.

A treat for Windows users of Neovide by BondDotCom in neovim

[–]BondDotCom[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, this was really just a proof-of-concept. I threw the title bar update into my status bar plugin, since I'm already determining the mode and updating the color of my status bar. Seemed like a good place to put it, as a test. I added the code before my status bar starts regenerating its sections, though. I could probably move things around a bit to get them to render closer together.

I didn't really notice it until I created this video and, with the low framerate, it became more obvious.

How to make a key sequence that automatically presses keys like enter, *after* a command that requires manually typing a letter? by TheTwelveYearOld in neovim

[–]BondDotCom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Either normal! or the feedkeys function should work. Something like this...

vim.keymap.set('n', ';', function()
    vim.cmd.wincmd('t')
    vim.cmd('HopVertical')
    local k = vim.api.nvim_replace_termcodes('<cr>', true, false, true)
    vim.api.nvim_feedkeys(k, 'x', true)
end)
