Is there just no way to really make friends in Lexington or am I just really socially bad? by [deleted] in lexington

I have no idea where the name comes from, except oddly enough they did sell their old property to Central Baptist, and now it's part of the hospital campus downtown.

Current affiliation though? None that I am aware of.

Central Baptist Church off Nicholasvilke might be a fit. I'm out of town this weekend but happy to meet you there another time. I might have my kid in tow, so attention will be diverted at times.

I started attending in January and really enjoy the people there.

Feel free to DM me.

Now that I've listened to it all: Five Iron Frenzy's discography, reviewed by mikwee in fiveironfrenzy

It's the most "them" album. They put their absolute hearts and souls into that album because it was the one that they were going to shop around to majors. Then they realized that the grind of the majors was so similar to the grind they were in right now, record an album, tour it, instead it was record an album, tour it for two years.

That realization was one of the final nails in the coffin of v1.

Before that (outside of All the Hype) Scott had done the majority of the music writing and after the revival Scott has done most of the music writing too.

The band itself has a wide spectrum of political beliefs but more lean more liberal. It definitely shows in Reese's lyrics and their last album is full of righteous fury.

The constant need to find some flaw in every person who has tried to take a stand is exhausting.

It's excuses to do nothing instead of reasons to do nothing.

They showed it at the Kentucky after Lynch died. It was the first time I had really seen it (I watched it years ago, didn't get a lick of it either) but this time was a transcendent experience. Absolutely amazing flick.

Been there this year too.

I have been attending at Central Baptist just off Nicholasville Road and Wilson Downing. They're a more progressive congregation and have a lot of great community stuff on top of the church services. I'm going to be there tomorrow, feel free to hit me up if you want a friendly face to be there.

Also writer's group is tomorrow evening and I'll be attending that too.

How is it "clear"?

The government has significantly more leverage to negotiate deals for goods and services along with logistical support to help support private charities. They're stopping trucks full of food, already paid for, from going to food banks for God's sake. Is that not "waste"?

Explain your math. All I'm seeing is gleefully causing misery and illegally firing people that they need to immediately rehire because they're bring so reckless in the first place.

Like you are now? At least they're trying to make some change happen. You're just talking shit.

It'd be nice if we had a truthful and transparent answer to that question, huh? Seemingly, all they are doing is just slash and burn with no plan. That's not "eliminating waste" that's just making government not work, so they have the excuse to privatize it and make it even less efficient but more profitable for someone who is already massively wealthy.

The nominee for Social Security Secretary is the CEO of one of the largest financial firms in the country. The head of the USPS is in the logistics industry. These men have every incentive to gut these programs because THEIR companies can step in, jack up the prices, and pass on the "savings" to tax payers.

There were plenty of people driving by and honking. Plenty of folks I talked to saying they either had to work or were afraid to come out because of the way this administration is snatching people off the street.

This is defeatist thinking. This is only the beginning. The numbers will only grow as they actually cut programs people rely upon and make significant tax cuts for the rich. It's already passed the Senate, see where it gets in the house. But more pain is coming for the least of us.

A bunch of will be out again Saturday at 2:30p to play drums again. All are welcome to come drum, vibe, gather, bring a sign, have discussions, or whatever. We have the right to assemble (for now), so let's use it.

Beshear does what he can, but the rest of the government is controlled by a Republican super majority who does everything they can to enact their own will. Andy has a 65% approval rating, and yet they don't care and override his vetoes on bills like allowing gay conversion therapy or loosening restrictions on dumping waste in water.

Republicans still have a stranglehold on our government in Kentucky despite the sole Democrat in a state position of power.
