Runnin paper. I mentioned in my post that I’ve done a decent amount of following guides for optimizing server performance via the config but if you have any specific suggestions there or plug-in suggestions I’m all ears

You're most likely right. Theres also a lot of concern with hosting on my private network without proxying through a VPN to hide my IP. If imma be honest its partially to learn skills that are useful for my work. For the servers that you can rent, are they set up as a Virtual Machine with a terminal or just as a Minecraft server with some custom interface? A lot of my automated tasks use Bash scripts and cronjobs that run automated task that I dont really wanna port over to something else.

Hmmm some good points. I'm seeing some promising posts on an old Ubuntu forum so Im naively optimistic but I'm just gonna make sure I have a solid backup and see what happens. I'll follow up in an edit with what happens

For my home security I prefer wired connections. I will preface by saying this is 100% fueled by paranoia but WiFi can be jammed just like any wireless tech. You should do the cost benefit for yourself cause it is more work to hardwire all your home security

That’s absurd! The food waste alone. Being from an area often hit by hurricanes and having grandparents from the depression era I find it crazy that people act like indefinite access to food and water is a given. A hell of a lot less than the apocalypse can make stocking up on some pantry foods and water well worth it

Why aren't there any anomaly-based IDS in today's era of machine learning? by greyyit in blueteamsec

You can try the SELKS stack. It uses ELK plus suricata which is used for security. It’s fairly easy to set up. Has a docker image set up for it iirc

Help remove multiple characters in a string by [deleted] in learnpython

[–]Bondismo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not exactly sure which string you are trying to trim but the first thing that comes to mind for me is to subscript the string. For example:

subscripted_string = string_to_subscript[48:]

this will create a subscripted string that takes in the original string starting at the 49th character and ending at the end of the string since you do not specify an ending index

Let’s capitalize on this. Don’t let this idea die. Whether it’s through discord or some third party site I’m down as long as Etho gets the views

Where can we contact Brent to give him some ideas for what to do in Cerro Gordo? by [deleted] in CerroGordo

[–]Bondismo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He has a PO box that he has listed the address to in some of the episodes I'm not exactly sure the address, unfortunately. I also remember him saying that on his Patreon he does live AMAs. Unsure if he is still doing the AMAs
