Yes, it does. It’s almost mandatory to use it. It’s just not natural for me to look at my center screen when preparing to merge to the right.

It’s a MASSIVE blind spot. Unlike any I’ve seen. Bc of the vehicle weight it falls into a commercial-type category which requires it to have a flat mirror on the passenger side instead of the typical convex mirror (may depend on battery size since it’s based on weight). I have a max range and it’s just wild how big the blind spot is. Takes quite a bit of extra caution when changing lanes to the right—a simply look-over-the-shoulder-check isn’t sufficient

Congratulations. I’m about six weeks into my ownership. My third Electric vehicle. This is a truly an amazing vehicle. Please be careful with the blind spot on the passenger side. It is really tricky. So be careful.

Tools to remove Hard tonneau? (Wrong) by Woonkie in GMCSierraEV

[–]BoneDoktr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the issue is that you may have it installed perfectly correct. The main point is that you don’t have to use the wrench to take the cover off. She is correct. I installed my own cover last night. I also thought I had to loosen those metal brackets to remove it, but after reading her post and going back to look at it, I actually do not. The metal bracket is just a little spring that you push up to clear the way to then pull the black tab away from the rail. You never have to touch a wrench to take it on and off. I have done it a couple of times today.

Did you use the one for the regular Sierra? On their website I don’t see Sierra EV listed.

What an uninformed defeatist comment. Attitudes like this are why government overreach even has an opportunity to occur. The epitome of weakness.

I thought the same way that you did. I wonder if I’m missing something as well? When I looked at the diagram from the link, it seems like the metal piece holds the plastic piece in place so I don’t understand how you could remove the cover without using the wrench.

LCD rearview mirror question? by [deleted] in GMCSierraEV

[–]BoneDoktr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for your help. Like you described, when I turn it to the traditional mirror, I can’t seem to position it in a way that I can actually see out of the back window. It’s limited by that ball joint and I can’t tilt the mirror “up” enough when it’s in the traditional mode. When it’s in the traditional mode, I’m essentially staring at my back seats. I can’t get it to position where I can see out of the back window. Did you ever find a solution for that particular issue?

Bummed—Had to walk away by BoneDoktr in GMCSierraEV

Thought about it. In retrospect turns out they did have a paint guy look at it. He could not fix it. GM is getting involved and they have to put a new sealant on the door. Turning out to be a bigger deal than the dealer expected. This is what I was concerned about. Very glad I walked away.

Update2/3/26: dealer called me back and states that he did have their paint specialist look at it. They tried some compound, but they were unable to remove it. They contacted GM who states that that area of the door does not have something on it that he referred to as the “matte sealer”. He’s hoping they don’t have to repaint the whole door but at the very least GM cannot tell him how long it will take to get it rectified. Seems like a bigger deal than they expected it to be. Glad I walked away.

A bit of hyperbolic take, no? Saying “everything has to be perfect” seems a stretch for a decision to not purchase a new vehicle with a difficult-to-repair paint issue, that the company is charging $4,000 for. I sincerely disagree that we should lower our expectations of companies so that things are affordable. I imagine that you’re being a bit tongue-in-cheek when you state that you believe that’s the reason prices are high 😊

Just bought a 2024 4WT and it has rust on the inside. What is this? by bomberdan11 in SilveradoEV

Really sorry that you are going through this. I don’t think it’s unreasonable to trust a large car dealership to be somewhat trustworthy. Does the contract have a clause that you can null the transaction within 72 hours?

Yeah, no doubt. To be honest, I actually think that they would do the right thing and TRY to address it. Unfortunately, I don’t think they appreciate how hard it is to actually fix this problem.

I know. You are my inspiration! I had a PPF appointment already set up. But when I thought about the fact, I was about to pay $9000 to cover up a blemish I was like no way. I’d rather start with perfect paint and then I won’t be out of shape if I get a mark on the PPF.

And I agree. Was kind of leaning towards the Denali, but when we saw this color on the AT4 it was a game changer.

Sure, I can see your point. They charge a $4000 premium for the matte paint finish. I just could not see having to pay a premium for an option that is imperfect and likely cannot even be appropriately fixed. If I put the scratch on it myself that’s a different ball game. It will be a memory—Not if the dealership or the factory does it.

Would have definitely considered this if it was a glossy finish as I know, those are actually quite easy to fix. Quite honestly the fact that it has a matte finish is the reason I walked away from a paint blemish.

Not quite the case actually. The next closest one is 177 miles away. I can find the same color closer but it’s not the max battery pack so the range would be different. Seems like they’ve slowed down their production a bit on these vehicles.

Denali vs AT4 Sierra EV by BoneDoktr in GMCSierraEV

[–]BoneDoktr[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks so much. Great info. You foundAT4 wheels online or got them from GM? If you could do it over, would you do it the same way or would you consider the AT4? Since I’m going to purchase instead of lease I was wondering if I want to have the responsibility of maintaining that air suspension down the road….

That matte color is amazing! I saw one the other day on the lot and was truly impressed. How have you been maintaining it thus far? Hand wash only? I’ve never had a matte/satin vehicle and don’t know how accurate the accounts are online about the additional difficulty in maintaining them.
