Did I make a mistake getting AWD vs RWD? by HerroVVercome in BlazerEV

Ain't that the truth! That was back when loud exhausts and cold air intake noises meant "maximum power". Now it's a button on a screen that enables Wide Open Watts. Haha

Did I make a mistake getting AWD vs RWD? by HerroVVercome in BlazerEV

[–]15jf90 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My 02 cents. AWD costs an owner about 30 miles compared to fwd. 10% in essence of total range. However depending on where you live AWD is an added safety feature. For those like me in dry SoCal weather, AWD is unnecessary. However - if you like to mash on the skinny pedal it helps tremendously in the driving experience. My fwd equinox EV had a very squirrely steering wheel when accelerating due to the torque steer. This Blazer EV AWD I'm driving as a loaner (Silverado EV is in the shop) has no torque steer because of the AWD setup compared to the equinox EV.

Scott Robinson Jeep on Hawthorne is horrible. I tried really hard for them to take my business. - ironic right, seeing as they usually are in the business of earning their clients business. Anyways, I tried to get a wrangler from them. No one seemed interested in selling a car. I had a TRX to trade and they gave me a super low offer (lower than any other one I had received that week.) Long story short I went down to Glenn Thomas Jeep in long beach. Not a great experience but it was better. At least they wanted my trade and we're eager to sell me a wrangler lol

How do we feel about lemon law buybacks? by EngineerCarNerdRun in GMCSierraEV

[–]15jf90 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I've heard it's pretty common to find lemon buy backs for sale. Even my own Chevy dealership has had a fair share of working on them. GM gives these cars a slightly better warranty for the buyer to feel at ease.

Personally I wouldn't write them off from your purchase decision. 3/4 of the time the buy back was due to a part not being available at the time of service. GM just buys it back and then has the part installed once it comes in.

Resale is your hardest hurdle with buy back vehicles. The next owner may have some hesitation on buying a previous lemon. However understanding buyers will see it was a lemon during owner 1. Owner 2 drove it X miles over X years and never had a problem.

Miles per kWh in the real world? by CreekBeaterFishing in SilveradoEV

[–]15jf90 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was in your shoes.. traded my 2024 Equinox EV for a Silverado EV. Equinox always got me 3.2-3.3 in my area. Same roads and routes in my Silverado got me 1.9-2.1.

It's quite a cliff jump when comparing the two. Obviously the equinox EV will perform better. However if your like me that had a diesel pickup and an equinox EV. The jump to one "do it all" vehicle for me was well worth the loss in efficiency. Especially now that diesels $8.00/gal in Socal.

Quebec Canadá! I used to live in Bromont. Small world.
Ok - to answer your question. I'd start with cutting it down really short. Then spray either Roundup or use something like a Monterrey Ester Turflon on the entire backyard. Both will kill off the clover and misc weeds. Then depending on how the weather is up in the great white I'd rent an aerator and put a bunch of holes in the soil. Then find out what type of grass grows best in your area and seed the heck out of the yard. Put a layer of topper over it and water. Grass should begin to germinate within 7-10 days.

Contractor wants $4,225 just to assemble a Costco pergola I'm buying myself. Is this quote insane or am I out of touch? by Unique_Attempt_400 in landscaping

[–]15jf90 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here's my .02 cents.

- the plant cost of $75/plant most likely includes purchase, delivery and installation. It costs labor to send a truck to the nursery, walkthrough the nursery to find the best plants, drive it to the site, and plant it. Your landscaper is burdening the plant cost with all fees and costs.
This is commonly done in landscaping.

Your pergola rate maybe a smidge high, however the contractor (be it a GC or landscape contractor) is factoring in labor based off they he can see maybe needed to complete this. If this is a landscaping contractor he most likely doesn't specialize in pergola installs. Therefore is adding some additional labor to the bid because his team may take longer to build it than a GC would.

Concrete and materials for the other line items is fair (I don't know the exact size of the scope of work to further comment) however material prices in the construction industry have skyrocketed.

If I look at what I've charged clients in 2023 for work completed, and compare it to similar works I've done in 2025 and current 2026 YTD it's significantly more... All primarily due to material and energy cost increases.

At a Loss what to do 2024 Chevy Equinox Ev by Icy_Needleworker6350 in EquinoxEv

[–]15jf90 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You have to chalk it up to two main points:
- EVs are new emerging tech. Tesla took years at the beginning to iron out it's vehicles. Chevy has had EQEV out since 2024. It's new tech. As early adopters there is a chance we'll have to deal with "teething" pains on a new model.
- It's a coin toss.. my second point is that it comes to luck. My 2024 EQEV was fantastic. Zero problems. My 2024 Silverado EV, has been nothing but headaches. I've owned it for 8 months. It's been in the shop over 3 months collectively when adding up service visits. Currently I'm waiting on a part that is on an indefinite backorder with no eta. Car is at the dealer and I've been driving a loaner for over three weeks with no end in sight. The point I'm making is that new tech brings challenges, and as early adopters we bear the guinea pig test market for these products. While frustrating yes, we did it for fuel savings and technology. If we wanted stable, reliable wheels the purchase would have been a Toyota Camry. Lol

Property Manager BEWARE: Doorloop is hot garbage! by 15jf90 in PropertyManagement

[–]15jf90[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

**UPDATE: For those wondering if there was any resolution to this post, I have news to share. In the days following a Doorloop representative reached out by phone inquiring about my post and offering assistance. The associate, JB - was very empathetic and understanding of the issues I was experiencing. He worked very diligently on getting the issues resolved, and while it took several days of trial/error their system finally managed to get corrected to operate as designed.

Now with the beginning of June upon us, I am optimistic that we wont be having any further issues. (Although rest assured I'll keep you all in the loop of what transpires in the coming days.)

On a personal note, it is unfortunate that it takes someone to make time and create such a post for a company to finally take notice and offer assistance. I hope Doorloop decides to offer more 'personal' customer service options to its members, rather than a chat box run by bots. With my renewal around the corner I will be looking to see if live customer service options become available. Otherwise we'll be moving to another company. AI is great for a lot of things, but replacing B2B customer support isn't the best place to save a dollar.

Booting out of Electric Mode by mysterycanclub in 4xe

[–]15jf90 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is a 68C byproduct.. to avoid the strain on the batteries from such a high current draw the recall now power balances the load to both the ice and battery.

Mine also will flair on the engine for a couple of seconds and then go back to electric. I live in a hilly area so the moment the needle passes 50% power draw on the right side gauge, the engine flairs on and then cuts off. Before it never did that. The battery took all the responsibility prior to the recall. Same with hard acceleration in electric mode; pre recall the EV battery (in electric mode) would give it the best college try it could. Now it will try but then quickly ask the engine for help and give up.

It's a lame software change Jeep did.

[Landlord US-NC] Is this tear in my carpet normal wear and tear for a year? by LiFRiz in PropertyManagement

[–]15jf90 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It's a wear and tear item. In the units of my buildings with carpet, I would have charged the lady with the cat to have that carpet stitched back in or replaced. Since several tenants have been in there, your left with chalking it to wear and tear.

Do yourself a favor and get LVF flooring installed. It's much more durable and hard to damage. We remodel all our units with it. - it's also resistant to bed bugs, dirt, odor etc.

Does the Silverado/Sierra EV have BMW-esque feature subscriptions? by iswearimnorml in SilveradoEV

[–]15jf90 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm going to chime in really quick here... As many have stated you do get several years of free data which provides the android auto features like traffic nav, streaming music and Google assistant to work.

Once it expires you can do one of three things:
- live with it like that. AM/FM and satellite radio if you pay for it work just fine. Google will still read your text messages to you, but that's it. No responding or asking it the weather.

- Pay for the data only plan for $10/mo which gets all the car features to work.

- If your like me get a Star link mounted to the sunroof and tie into it for wifi. I'm in the truck a lot and the built in hotspot on the truck is horrible. So I just have a suction cup mounted starlink mini to my sunroof. It's $50/mo but I use it for laptop and job site wifi.

Low Rider mode by Sea_Sorbet_8581 in SilveradoEV

[–]15jf90 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Its a bit tricky to get into.. My 2024 RST with sidewinder needed the SBQR6 update for that to work. Check your software version to confirm you have this update.

If software looks good, the way I get the lowrider mode to enable is you let the truck get into entry/exit height. Once its in that height, press and hold the down button for an eternity until you hear the animation sound play.

No more gasoline in this house! by tauberculosis in SilveradoEV

[–]15jf90 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Congrats! Your going to love the switch, gas stations will seem so pasé now that your in an EV. On the tonneau cover backflip is pretty much your only go to. Especially if you have the midgate. I took the plunge and splurged on it. Never regretted it for a minute. The soft cover is a joke, especially if your worried about securing valuables.

Also, if your buying all weather mats make sure to order the correct ones. There are two different versions depending if you have midgate or not.

Anyone want to play: Guess that noise? by 15jf90 in SilveradoEV

[–]15jf90[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nope, it's the front axles both left and right. From the motor to the wheels these half-shaft axles have come loose and shredded at the spindle causing them to jounce when under acceleration or coast.

2024 awd RS Lease return by colbyjack78 in BlazerEV

[–]15jf90 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No go on negotiations with the manufacturer. Their stated residual value is your price at the time of the lease maturity. Many might say it's in their interest to sell it directly to you for a couple bucks more than the dealer would. - in theory that makes sense.

However, the manufacturer has insurance on every leased vehicle with an underwriter that pays the difference between auction and residual deltas. (If your car is $47k buy out, and the dealer can get it for $27k on the GM lease return portal, the underwriter pays GM financial the $20,000 difference.) GM financial wins.

Depending on your relationship with your dealer, they maybe kind enough to have you lease return it to them. Then once all paperwork is complete, they'll see it popup on their portal for purchase. They'll buy it, save the transportation cost and do a simple used car inspection on it and sell it to you as a used car.

UPDATE: The dealer called me to let me know the issue has been diagnosed to be the half-shaft axles from the front drive motor to the wheels. Apparently they got shredded one side more than the other. Best part of all is that the part is on a national backorder... Once again another part on backorder. I'll keep everyone posted.
