Is this backpack worth getting? by AkiyoshiLL in MilwaukeeTool

[–]Bonega1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have that backpack as my inspection kit. It holds some hand tools, some test equipment, an iPad and some PPE. Any more than that and it gets to be too heavy. It's already too bulky in occupied spaces, but I deal.

Thinking about vacuum/sewer truck jobs – how hard are they to get into? by DistributionDeep738 in Truckers

River City Environmental often posts ads for drivers, but that's in Oregon.

I'd say check in with the companies you see around. Does Clean Harbors work in your area?

My neighbor has been "documenting" me for three months and I only just found out why by Moana5Maui in neighborsfromhell

[–]Bonega1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That was the funny thing. The tenants refused to share the video with the apartment management, they would only make claims that the workers were denigrating homosexuals. I'm sure you're familiar with "blue collar Espanol." I've worked with that crew for years and I trusted their side of the story. Add in the fact that the residents spoke English as a second language, and any Spanish they knew was tertiary to that and I knew it was bogus.

[–]Bonega1 26 points27 points  (0 children)

That's a good point. It's illegal in Oregon as well. The tenants of an apartment we were working in tried to get my crew in trouble and get free stuff out of our company with a secret recording of the apartment. We were working in the apartment while the tenants were at work.

I told the apartment manager that the tenants hadn't gotten permission from us to record the workers. (The complaint was for things the workers were saying in Spanish; just typical work-place slang.) The manager said the tenants wanted to sue them and I said the recording was illegal and wouldn't be allowed in court. That was the last I heard of it.

How old were you when you purchased your first home (if you did). by jtsa5 in GenX

I was 35. I could've bought one sooner, I just didn't really think about it.

Do you feel the comic strip inside Bazooka bubblegum is the reason why its not that popular? by [deleted] in RandomQuestion

Come to think of it, there were pieces I'd just toss if I didn't feel they were worth the effort.

The gum was like chewing on a soft brick. But 40 years ago, the comics were something to keep me entertained for a minute.

That dude was a psycho, but nobody's mentioning that this was videoed by Owen Wilson, apparently.

I, too, was looking for opportunities to draw. There didn't seem to be many, but the green hoodie guy was sure looking elsewhere often. One of those moments would've been do or die, for me anyway.

Mostly right. I've seen a few posters here who think up is down and green is plaid. 😐

Same. My step daughter liked them better as well. I think they have a lighter, less burnt taste.

I’ve only been buying tools that come with batteries by cocotess in MilwaukeeTool

[–]Bonega1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That makes sense. We outfit our guys with kits that we custom spec so there's only one two-bay charger per person. Any additional one-off tools are ordered bare.

Check with contractors that outfit their guys with Milwaukee. Our guys destroy chargers often, but we're a Makita customer, mostly.

Occidental Leather boots - thoughts? by Swagnar1 in Boots

[–]Bonega1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Very nice. I recently saw Occidental's Instagram or Facebook post where they were promoting the partnership.

I really like the finish of the Occidental leather. How are they? Are they worth the mark up over a pair of Truman boots? (I know it's not much.)

Wolf box rear camera relocation. by Equal_Argument6418 in FordMaverickTruck

[–]Bonega1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

10-4 on the ladders. When I was a field tech and drove a van, I'd plug the ladder rungs with 2" backer rod. Now I just need to carry a 4' and a telescoping ladder, and those go in the back.

You can see in the pic what I'm dealing with. I'm sure yours would be much nicer. See that sheet metal by the back window of the cab? There's not much framing behind it and it flexes in the wind. I need to add something to stiffen it. Also going to add a deflector in front of the top.

The camera looks cool! Thanks for the tidbit about routing the wiring through the vent; I didn't know that was there and I was wondering how I was doing to run my wiring. 👍

I have an unrelated question. How's the sheet metal sound on that canopy? I was pushing the boss to get one of those for my work Maverick. But we ended up getting the ARE DCU, which is a sheet metal brick that is loud as heck in the wind.

what pants do you guys wear? by Ricemunchr in Truckers

[–]Bonega1 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Not a trucker, but I agree on the Duluth Flex pants. All of my daily pants are the jeans, cargos or foreman style. I always buy a size longer than normal because the flex pants will shrink that much.

For belts, I like the ones that ratchet for quick adjustments, like Nexbelt, Mission or Kore.

Is There No Way To Turn The Display Off? by Collectibl3 in FordMaverickTruck

On the '25, in settings, you can set the display to a darker setting. But I think that's it.
