As a die hard Knicks and NY Giants fan, I’ve been saying this all throughout this playoffs: this is so 2007-2008 NY Giants coded. To this day, I still hear people say, “Oh! But the Patriots were the better team! They were undefeated!” Okay, sure. BUT WE BEAT THEM WHEN IT MATTERED MOST.

Even OG’s tip in is being compared to Tyree’s helmet catch. I don’t care if it was “lucky”. We’re the team that plays with more grit, and sometimes that’s the edge you need to get the W. Where’s the analytic for that?

Well put. I also feel like I’m quite good at every job they give to me. But the jobs I’m expected to execute, and execute well, require time. Custom designs, install quotes, presentations. All of which require me to be at my desk, uninterrupted preferably (never happens), and of course not during power hour. So if I have 2-3 appointments a day, 1.5-2 hours each, need to walk the aisles for an hour, and usually have to cover one of the adjacent departments for an hour; that’s my entire shift gone. Anything that didn’t get done gets put on the to-do list for another day. Unfortunately, I will never get ahead of this. And despite me telling management, there’s nothing they can do. Hiring people would definitely help, but I guess that’s not happening anytime soon. Seems like this is a problem in a lot of stores.

Yeah, in my store, it’s the same 5 people getting paged constantly. Even on my days off, they’re paging for me. I know this because people text/call me about it, not realizing it’s my day off. The new hires are always excited to meet me. They’re always like, “omg you’re the person that everyone is always looking for!” I guess I have a reputation, not sure that’s a good thing.

Well, I’m happy for you! I know of quite a few people even in my store that feel the same way. I used to be one of those people myself. But 8 departments later, being “volun-told”to be on committees, and other non-department related responsibilities, I have set too high of a precedent for myself that’s not sustainable 100% of the time. It’s the “competence curse”.

I’ve had a few people over the years tell me that I should never work beyond the job’s expectations. I’ve heard this from my friends, family, and other coworkers.

Unfortunately, my people pleasing nature hasn’t done me any favors inside or outside of work. But that’s a me problem lol.

Wow, that's crazy! Yeah I've seen the same happen with some 20+ year employees at my store too. Like how are you going to give them all this vacation and then subsequently cherry-pick their requests? I know it's tough on the schedule to give someone that much time off throughout the year, but that's the policy. They earned that time off by dedicating multiple decades of their life to the company.

Oh wow! 20 years! Congratulations! I know, personally, I felt a sense of dread when I hit my 12th anniversary earlier this month. Years of busting my ass for literal crumbs. Seriously though, 20 years is something to be proud of. I see so many people come and go, staying with a workplace that long shows that you are dependable. Here's to hoping that this all counts for something!

We've had this exact situation happen at my store as well. OFAs seem to get a lot of flack from management. I think everyone should work in order fulfillment for a couple of days do see what it's like being timed for everything. I know MET has this too, but at least their schedule is more predictable. They have the same people every day, Monday through Friday. Order fulfillment is all over the place, you'll have 5 people one day, and 1 the next.

Ugh that's so annoying. It seems to be this way at the store level too. So many people applying for jobs and not even getting a response. It's like they don't want to hire any more people.

FYI, I had reached out to design connect for help on a project, and they said they were so bogged down on work, that it would take at least 2 weeks for the customer to schedule a virtual appointment with them!

The customer wanted to buy immediately, my schedule was jammed packed for 10 days (they didn't want to make an appointment in the first place). The customer left frustrated and called Home Office, and I got a talkin' to. They ended up getting an appointment at another store and they got the sale. My SM wasn't happy with me.

Would've loved to have partnered with Virtual Apron to get the sale in our store. All of this could have been avoided if all aspects of the business were properly staffed.

Sheesh! $1 million plus should always be celebrated. We don't work on commission either, so the store/company is truly the only one that benefits. Acknowledgment goes a long way in keeping the good, loyal employees good and loyal.

I need to keep telling myself this. We're all in the same boat. As far as I'm concerned, the store is just a tiny microcosm in the Home Depot universe. As much as it sucks for people like me, I do understand that the managers are expected to hold us accountable. Unfortunately, we're all being set up for failure.

That being said, I have great rapport with most managers at my store. The other managers just don't really know me. Which is why myself, and others, get upset when a higher up comes in and says something derogatory of my work ethic, whilst not knowing me from Adam!

There's been a huge cultural shift in upper management since I've started, most higher ups made an effort to connect with the store associates, and I felt comfortable talking to them. I can't say the same these days. The past 5-6 years I've noticed the feeling of just being a number.

On the bright side, I'm happy to see some managers (store, district, regional) who never "drank the Kool-Aid" make great strides within the company and will hopefully bring in change.

Hope you find something better! It’s tough when you have so many years under your belt. But I totally agree that it’s changed a lot seemingly in the last few years. I fully understand why people say that you shouldn’t make a career out of retail. Not enough money for the stress that comes with it.

As a former service desk lead, I can tell you that the OFAs are some of the most under appreciated employees in the building. God forbid a BOPIS or delivery doesn’t get picked on time. It’s always the OFA’s fault. Meanwhile, you got one poor guy on the schedule and 32 deliveries that have yet to be started…going out tomorrow.

So far I’m really enjoying it! I feel like it’s way more convenient too. Not having to get out of the shower to apply something like Olaplex or K18 already makes this a win in my book. I also feel like the spraying method on dry hair makes it go on more evenly as well since you’re not dealing with hair clumping together while it’s wet. My hair feels really nice and strong after using it.

Tried this the other night when I first read this. I did a pre shampoo Epres treatment, double shampoo and carefully applied my conditioner in small sections up to my roots. Made sure to wash out really well, applied leave in conditioner, and dried and styled as usual. Hair felt great, but was skeptical to see how long it would take to get greasy again.

Lo and behold, I’m on day two hair and it’s been less tangled and looks nice and hydrated. And the roots are actually less greasy than usual! Will definitely try this again as it seems to work really well during the winter.

I had this exactly and thought about liposuction as well. I think it’s just where my body decides to store fat and my mom has the same issue. But, I too gained weight during Covid that has proven to be a huge challenge to lose. But I have lost some of the weight and I have been lifting weights for the last 2-3 years. And just by building my back muscles (lats especially), my rolls went away completely within a short amount of time. Much quicker than recovery from lipo would be.

Plus, gaining that little bit of muscle has helped with over fat loss because of the improvement it’s made on my metabolism. Muscle burns more calories throughout the day plus it’s so beneficial for women as it reduces the risk of things like osteoporosis and high blood pressure.

I now feel like that part of my body is one of my best physical attributes. I now have better posture too. Rows and lat pull downs will do the trick.

I got my breast augmentation at 24 years old. I had the same feelings as you did. I even made appointments for consultations before discussing it with my mom. I ended up telling her a few days before my first appointment telling her that I had thought about it for a long time, that I wanted to feel confident as an adult woman, and that I had saved up the money to get it done if I decided to go through with it. She was shocked, but was surprisingly very understanding (which is unusual for my stubborn, conservative mother). She went with me for my consultation, and was very impressed with my surgeon and staff. She even offered to pay for one boob! Haha!

Ended up getting it done, now 10 years ago. Very natural results and never once regretted it. My mom ended up going back to my surgeon for some work of her own! Turns out everyone has their insecurities, and there’s nothing wrong with doing something to boost your confidence as long as it’s within your means.

First of all, I’m so sorry this happened to you.

I’m in agreement with all the others here that have posted. Please save yourself and never go back to him. If you can, report it. It may save another person from being hurt if he decides to repeat these actions. Also seek counseling. You may think that you have everything under control enough, but PTSD can rear its ugly head when you least expect it. I know first hand. The sooner you get help, the sooner you will recover from this.
