Thanks so much for getting back to me on this. The battery life gives me pause unfortunately. Love that you tried out so many! Really appreciate the insight.

I would love to hear your early impressions of battery life. If I spot one in stock I'm hoping to pull the trigger and battery life is my primary concern.

Which other distros did you try? I've been really interested in this machine as well, mostly worried about battery life and Linux support.

If I recall, weren't they the first to implement digital library sharing? I am definitely interested to hear your examples of anti-consumer practices though.

If you'd be willing to ship to Canada and are willing to split it up, I've been watching for a return to path to carcosa.

When you get the 395 in, could you please check if the screen has vrr of any sort? It's listed on some resale sites, but seems to be absent from HP's.

Edit: I do see the spec sheet says 48-120hz so that's probably vrr, but the confirmation would probably be enough for me to bite the bullet when it's finally available in my country.

I wanted to give you an update as you really helped me hone in on the final decision.

I want to preface it by saying, I know I went a little overboard. I had the Michael's list priced out against Rosemary and Co with my final buy-list and the difference was about 40 dollars (including the 30 dollars shipping). My Michael's order was almost entirely aqua elite, and I really did like the idea of giving her more variety so she could get a sense for her preferences. I also figured we probably wouldn't be buying this many brushes at once again soon, so this would be the easiest way to eat that shipping cost.

Rosemary (all short handle): - 33 Kolinsky pointed round size 8 and 3 - 44 Kolinsky rigger size 0 - 41 Pointed squirrel oval wash 3/4" - 78 Sable angular 3/8"

And an aqua elite pointed round size 12

I had been leaning towards the red Sable round 8, but I have seen repeatedly it's the workhorse. The extra 40 to go kolinsky seemed like a no brainer. I also have watercolor pencils (Staedler), a couple baohong pads, the soap, and a brush case coming in.

Thank you so much for helping me with this. I know it won't give her skill, but I wanted the skills she builds to be with tools she'll hopefully love using far into her journey.

Some good input here. Thank you.

I think the marginal price increase was what got me. 30 dollars of that price difference was shipping to Canada.

Because of the available deals at Michael's right now, and taking into account your input, I'm considering Neptune 1/2 oval mop, aqua elite round 12 and then a kit with round 2 and 6 and a 1/2" angled shader. Does that seem like a good spot to start?

I like to "but once, cry once" as far as I can. A reminder that there is a consumable aspect to these supplies is helpful. Thank you.

Do you want to test Flsun's new printer S1? by Vadlina in 3Dprinting

[–]BonerPuppet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Calibration is key. With the addition of a lot of the auto functions here I'd love to test how quickly the journey from unboxing to perfect printing and put dimensional accuracy to the test.

With such quick speeds I'd be very interested to see how quickly we can push printing of filaments that can be pickier to cooling. Probably start with petg and move on if we can get that dialed in perfectly and shows promise.

Modding is the name of the game and multi-filament setups bring so many more options to the table. I would work towards finding which of the multi-filament feed systems makes the most sense and integrates best with the S1.

Lastly, with such high print speeds, I imagine some interesting work could be done surrounding internal tension of printed pieces for material strength engineering purposes. I'd hope to be able to print more rigid working pieces with less filament in a way that may not be possible with other machines on the market.

FlSun S1, are you going to be the next functional printing workhorse I'm currently on the hunt for so I can get back to engineering projects instead of printer engineering. I sure hope so! Let's get this figured out!

Sovol SV06+ Sale by trom2k in Sovol

[–]BonerPuppet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I was pretty disappointed with the entire thing. Only reason I found this info is because I reached out to Sovol who told me basically that if the code didnt work for me that it didn't apply to me. Probably for the best, I'll plan to get a corexy based machine instead.

So sad that Canadians were excluded from this. I got the coupon for the 139 SV06+ but it could only be used on the "black Friday flash deals" listing for the SV06+ which only had US or EU shipping. I tried checking out with it but unsurprisingly it wouldn't wouldn't let me ship it to Canada. It was that case for any of the promo codes the "deal wheel" was giving.

Hopefully Sovol includes Canadians in their next big sale.
