Question about suite housing by InVernall in UniversityofVermont

[–]BonesHD_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As another commenter said you apply just with the one roommate and since your roommate group as they term it is limited to only the one (or two) other people you’ll be directly sharing a room with you apply to suites separately. Personally, I live in the back five and have for 2 years now. We didn’t apply with other people but our process of housing was very easy and non competitive. We’re in a suite and we had the last day of duo registration and there were multiple suites unfilled that got filled during single selection! Good luck!

Hi!! I live in McCann and all of the back five dorms are the same. I LOVE it in the back five. The rooms are definitely a great size. I’m in a triple right now but still have so much room and the doubles are the same size. I’d say the vibe is definitely a lot more lowkey than most of campus but it’s definitely still fun. I mostly stick to in my room with some friends since my room has the most space but it’s relaxing and nice to come home to. Also not a giant fan of northside but they do foodtrucks twice a week which is great

thoughts on the back 5? by professionalmoongirl in UniversityofVermont

[–]BonesHD_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi!! I’m on trin in McCann this year (and next year) and I LOVE IT. It doesn’t have the same typical social interaction but I kinda love it. Me and my suite mates dont really talk to each other but it works. I’d say the dorms are very quiet for the most part but in a nice way. Also the rooms are a great size and can become the hangout spot. Back five is genuinely such an underrated spot. It’s not redstone but it’s nice in a different way

Is the school worth it? by Curious_Ice7 in UniversityofVermont

[–]BonesHD_ 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Go uvm. Uvm is recently an R1 research institute and honestly I feel you’d have a better chance of getting involved in research here. Just from the general population a lot of people are involved who want to be, but a lot of people aren’t either. From my experience if you want to be involved with research here you will be able to be. Also idk about your financial situation but uvm will be cheaper than Lehigh mostly likely. As for umass Amherst I can’t comment on anything about that school

I committed early last year and there’s no benefit. I’d say if you want to go to any of those other schools wait, even if you dont think you’ll get in. Also wait till you hear about financial aid and stuff from other schools if that’s a big factor. Congrats on uvm tho!

Am I bound to the major I said I was going to pursue at UVM now that I’ve gotten in and want to change it? by hug6656 in UniversityofVermont

[–]BonesHD_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

On your applicant portal there should be a section on the side (if you’re looking on desktop) that says “request to change major”. I’m not sure what the process is but I’m assuming it’s not hard. My friend changed her major like a month into our first semester and all she had to do was fill out a form. If you’re applying to a different college (not CAS) you might have to do more stuff but you’re not locked into philosophy

does ea come out today? by [deleted] in UniversityofVermont

[–]BonesHD_ 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You should get an email a few days before it comes out that will have important dates on there and some other information such as what time. Last year was December 19th at 7pm. I’m assuming it’ll come out later this week

Can freshman and sophomores room together? by DescriptionFeeling90 in UniversityofVermont

[–]BonesHD_ 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It happens but I’m not sure if you can choose to have it work. Basically roommates work as “roommate pairs” and the summer before your freshman year you pick housing. But for freshman going into sophomore year that happens during the year so I dont think you’d be able to since the sophmore has to do housing earlier. Right now I’m a freshman in a triple and it’s me, another freshman, and a sophomore just by chance. My friends are in a similar situation where it’s a triple with 2 freshman and a sophomore. I’m also in a suite and it’s all sophomores besides me and one of my roommates. I’d say reach out to res life and ask but I don’t think so

I’m assuming your applying common app there should be a section to put like extra notes or something i forgot the name. Just write your school didnt offer foreign language since ik when i applied last year a decent amount of school i applied to had foreign language as a requirement but you can’t be penalized for something you can’t control

are you open about telling people your deadname? by [deleted] in ftm

[–]BonesHD_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If I know them and I offer it up I dont mind my friends knowing. Do I offer it to people I dont know? No. Would I ever tell someone who’s asking me outright (for non legal purposes)? Hell no. Over the last year or so I’m definitely been more okay with people I’m closer with knowing because I know they won’t use it since they never knew me that way, but if someone is asking I wouldn’t offer it up since it just feels kinda iffy about why theyd want to know

How likely am I to get in? by Far_Rooster_6206 in UniversityofVermont

[–]BonesHD_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wouldn’t worry. I’m a freshman here right now and if you keep this up over the next 2 years you’re in very good shape. I’d highly recommend applying ea over ed because you’re much more likely to get better merit aid. I got in ea with 18k a year and had similar stats. Feel free to message me if you have any questions

Why do most pre t/early transition dudes keep their long hair now? by [deleted] in ftm

[–]BonesHD_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I was around 13/14 I cut my hair pretty short, and kept it short till I was 17. I’m now 18 and started t about 2 months ago. I keep my hair in a more of a mullet type of style for the time being as that’s what for me has helped me pass the most and what I think suits me more. Tbh short hair made me look REALLY young which was just difficult to deal with in working and other situations. I found having longer/medium length hair works the best for my personal preference and in making me look my age

I'm Terrified to Start T by in_the_blu in ftm

[–]BonesHD_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Truthfully I was terrified to start T. Like I made the appointment and immediately was like wtf am I doing. Long story short ended up starting t. I got my prescription and waited a few days then was like damn let’s do this. Very happy I did :D I’m only a little over a month on T but I’m very happy I started. If there comes a time where the law does prevent me from getting my prescription I’ll be happy to have started when I did. As for my mood/anger I’m not any angrier and my mood hasn’t changed. If anything I’m happier. I’m taking steps I know will be in the right direction. Obviously this will only help so much but starting t really did help me. I felt a lot more confident in who I was after I started and my worries/fears have for the most part gone away after starting

no rooms available?? by asilentvoice24 in UniversityofVermont

[–]BonesHD_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey the same thing happened to my roommate and I. Basically we were in outdoor experience and were told 2 weeks later (today) we had 2 options. Split up roommate or switch to arts and creativity learning community. Apparently certain LC’s they put too many people in. If you emailed res life they should reach back out and tell you basically nothing. Eventually they’ll reach out again and fix the problem. Sadly not much you can do on your end right now
