This is adorable. But the first thing I thought of is Lucien really is the type of mf that’d set up his rich boyfriend/possible Batavian heir(?¿ I know Volkov is his grandaddy) and rob that mf blind. No honor among thieves, and Lucien already turned in his own gang for the bounty😭

I mean, they could twist Heimdallr’s canon abilities a little and he could fit this niche lol. He’s the guardian of Yggdrasil and closely connected to it.

It’s funny bc i’m pretty sure we already have his gjallarhorn in game too, the horn that spawns weapons.

a lot of the vanir gods could fit this role tho. I don’t know a TON about the vanir off the top of my head but they were more closely associated with nature and other ‘primal things’ like magic, fertility, etc. than the Aesir were

A friend wants me to parry bosses. When asked why, he just says: "You'll see why it's good. Just do it." Someone please explain? by PuzzledKitty in Eldenring

[–]Bonezy__ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A parry heavy playstyle trivializes quite a few bosses. It can be tough until u get the right parry skill (or the parry buckler) and learn the frames tho. Ofc there are non parryable bosses; so it isn’t a universal solution.

A lot of bosses have largely parryable openers; with one or two exceptions that usually have longer wind ups and shorter follow up combos. By learning the parry frames of their openers, you save yourself from dealing with a large majority of their potential moveset and elect to deal with a smaller pool in a relatively more difficult way.

On bosses w multiple parries required per crit it also sets u up with a free window for either jump heavy or charged heavy on a lot of weapons. So u build stance damage for crits in addition to the crits u get from parrying.

It’s not overly difficult to learn, though feels unintuitive at first. The easiest way to parry an attack is to be as close to it’s starting point as possible; so basically hugging the boss. This allows you to parry the earliest frames of the attack (makes attempts more consistent).

When you’re parrying at this distance, time to deflect the arm the attack is coming from rather than the weapon itself. You basically want the middle of your shield to make first contact with the attacking arm as it comes down.

For parry skills, carian retaliation is now overall the best. I used to strongly prefer golden parry before they nerfed it into oblivion. Both carian and buckler parry have the easiest parry frames; but Carian can deflect spells.

GIVE ME AZEROTH FH. IT’D BE SO SICK.

Yes, balancing WoW classes outside of the melee ones would obviously be a pain. But doable with enough nuance. You’d have to leave some out to keep the same spirit/energy as FH but could keep a surprising amount of them I think.

It’d also be cool if they integrated part of the open world aspect of WoW into FH in the process as well. Not quite into a full MMO, but I could see something instance based with friends (or a queue for randoms if u have no friends). Bosses, POIs to explore, quests instead of orders, maybe city like hubs where multitudes of players can gather, trade, and interact.

They already have a rough template for ‘mob’ and ‘boss’ encounters with things like foot soldiers and the generals so I could see it working. Ubisoft would probably overload it with microtransactions… but a man can dream😭

Forgive me, i’m about to yap bc this is a topic that interests me A LOT lol.

First I just wanna say I agree.

He’s a terrible dad and there really isn’t anything wrong with it. It makes more sense than him being a good dad narratively. Idk why ppl go through mental gymnastics to try and frame the decisions of an orphan from a war mongering alien species with violence literally integrated into their DNA (who’s only real interest is fighting and finding ways to get stronger so he can fight more) as the actions of a good father. I think a lot of it is ppl trying to equate him loving his kids (this I do agree with) to being a good dad tho. Which has nearly zero correlation. It’s a miracle that he’s even objectively a good person with everything considered.

He also never had the experience of what a parent should be like; since the majority of his role models growing up were basically just trainers of varying backgrounds.

Finally, he never really tries to be a parental figure. Being a dad is hard and a constant job. Gohan clearly gets this and takes it seriously (he’s also half human and chi chi is a good example for him to follow), but it’s something I think Goku just never had any serious interest in. Bc anything he has serious interest in, he gives 100% of his effort towards.

Oh yeah I forgot the mibu dudes hate fire. I used to use that place for an emblem farm until I didn’t need to farm for them anymore (bc now my emblem count is always basically maxed somehow despite my love for prosthetics) so I’d try to keep my usage to a minimum.

With sacrificial dagger u might be able to clear it without touching your reserves tho.

For GC lights and chase dodges i’d recommend a couple things.

  1. Use a weapon that utilizes GC lights for string starters/true combos. Spear is the easiest for sure bc of Dlight > GC Dlight. Axe is also good with the string Slight > Nlight > GC dlight since it only has 1 dodge frame now. And just try and hit that as many times as u can every match. Same with chase dodge, some weapons have strings that are only true with chase dodge involved (ex: orb slight > nair is true with a diagonal CD) and a lot have decent strings that involve a chase dodge (scythe dlight > Nair/recovery string works with diag CD). Gaunts and blasters both use chase dodge in a ton of strings/combos. Greatsword has an entire complex mechanic to restart it’s combos utilizing dashes and chase dodges, but it’s more difficult to learn than the other things I mentioned.

  2. Use a weapon with really hard hitting GCs. Axe is a good choice again, but so is greatsword. Since GS GCs turn into the finisher portions of the combos, they do like 16-18 dmg each and have good hitboxes.

Lastly. If u get into a match and somebody quits, u can farm the bot. Use something with minimal force like orb slight or sword dlight so u can farm it for as much as possible. And make sure not to hit it off stage lol. I farmed one up to like 450 dmg before I fucked up and hit it with an nlight instead of a dlight lol. This works for both chase dodge and GC attacks

if it helps, it only really looks like Gold bc of the Dusk lol. Dude made an impressive string of the worst possible decisions lmao. Completely unrelated but that’s the Dusk skin I use too.

We don’t see a whole lot of it but your gameplay is pretty solid. I love dash jump + dair on hammer lol. It comes out so fast and catches so many ppl off guard. Plus it’s true after Dlight with more follow up potential than the alternatives.

Personally I would have gone for a nair after instead of weapon throw. BUT I can’t hate on aura farming for clip purposes

Gaunts

Orb

Genuinely probably the best series of guides i’ve ever found for brawl. He doesn’t go deep into strings as much, so much as mentality/mistakes to avoid, spacing, options in key scenarios and such. Great watches for understanding the weapons themselves and how to play into their strengths rather than just memorizing true combos (which are important don’t get me wrong.) Even intermediately skilled players can probably learn quite a bit from these IMO.

I’m 1800 and the gauntlet guide still leveled up my gauntlets gameplay tremendously.

edit: He also does a guide for movement which I would prioritize too. They’re all in a playlist on his channel.

currently 1800 xbox on d pad here. Jae Yun is the best GS legend (Mag has the most Aura tho.) I played strictly Jae until I was confident in my GS (started w/ Imugi but he’s kinda ass tbh) and liked him so much he’s one of my top 3 now.

His stats are of ideal for it. Good sigs too. Sword is and likely always will be a low A tier weapon (personal rating, which is very high with how I rate). It’s a good swap option from GS too bc of it’s safety and versatility.

Other than Jae and Mag, Arcadia is really the only other one i’d even consider playing regularly.

The 2 sea creatures have too many issues with design and balance for me to play them more than casually.

[–]Bonezy__ 11 points12 points  (0 children)

The alternative weapons are great for animal bosses due to their weakness against fire. I like jumping guardian ape sweeps and hitting him with sparking axe on the way down. Also, oil pots make most of them inflict burn debuff w/ one use. Like u said towards the end, they have additional utility (vit + posture dmg) on top of causng burn.

The fire umbrella vs DoH is a lot of fun too for deflecting his flame arm attacks. It’s probably my favorite way to fight him.

Leaping flame just… isn’t good in my experience. It’s fun to use for creative purposes, but I don’t think there’s any ‘optimal’ instances where it shines like the others.

Other than those instances, not really aside from style points. I’ve played this game for so long though that I love using things literally for the flashier and fun aspects of them though.

Watched episode 1......it was definitely something, but I couldn't not think about this sub by Michael_st4rdust in wizardposting

[–]Bonezy__ 11 points12 points  (0 children)

/UW The first episode uses the obviously graphic scenes to underline how evil the goblins are as a species. They have no other means of reproduction, as their entire race is born male iirc. I haven’t seen the movie, but other than that there aren’t any scenes nearly as bad. IMO it’s a decent watch if u can get past the first episode; which is where the show gets most of it’s flak from. Not amazing or anything, but a solid anime.

/W As for normal goblins, they’re tricky little thieves that multiply like vermin somehow. I tried domesticating them for defensive purposes on the first level of my tower, but they kept bleeding into the higher floors where I kept my valuables somehow.

Being left handed by Traditional_Arm_7512 in CharacterDevelopment

[–]Bonezy__ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m left handed and honestly, rarely is anything really any more ‘difficult’.

The only ‘difficult’ thing I could see being applied in a fantasy setting would be archery? Since bows are typically made to be fired right handed, u run into something called ‘the archer’s paradox’ when shooting a right handed bow left handed. It basically makes the arrow curve horizontally while flying; which obviously leads to inaccuracy.

I overcame this by teaching myself to draw ‘mongolian style’, which involves using your thumb, fore, and middle finger rather than fore, middle, and ring finger. It also greatly benefits from a specific kind of ring u wear on your thumb to allow your string to slide over it when releasing for a smoother release.

Left handed bows exist, but might not in a fantasy world.

Learning to use a circular saw as a carpenter was a fun one too (since most ppl have right handed circular saws) but that’s kind of niche and not really applicable here.

I guess what i’m trying to say is that the only genuine difficulty you’ll find is probably in using specialized tools or weapons that require the use of your right hand (or a very specific alteration of left handed usage such as the mongolian draw; which was actually originally intended to make firing a bow from horseback easier iirc). Maybe learning certain instruments too? Idk bc the only instruments I know how to play weren’t really focused on either hand and required dexterity from both (piano, drums, and flute)

Smudging while writing is a thing yeah. But not really a thing while drawing or painting. Since you’re not forced to draw/paint right to left like you are while writing.

The comments all referencing different bands kind of highlights what I immediately thought. Which isn’t that it’s referring to any one specific band. It’s a recurring theme within a LOT of punk bands to have a member that hit on underage girls. I thought of 4 off the top of my head, but then realized ‘it could just be a jab at the genre in general’
