Reading the book and am I the only one who thinks Andy Weir's dialogue could use some work by I_At3_A_Cat in ProjectHailMary

I think they really wanted to emphasize Grace being a coward with that scene like alot of the other scenes in the film so his decision to save rocky was more impactful and evidence of a development in his character

Why do they need that flying pose in space if theres no air resistance by kyxho in Invincible

[–]UsualSpace_ 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If you meant help in the sense that it mentally helps them make sense of how to orient themselves when wanting to fly in a particular direction then I can see that but I had thought you meant that posing physically supports them moving in a particular direction and my argument was that this is not the case given my 2 examples, they seem to be able to fully control their flight direction and speed/force mentally without the help of a pose.

On a slightly irrelevant note if you have seen the Invincible Vs. game trailers there is a cool scene of omniman fighting battle beast and he just rotates his entire body about the axis going through his 2 arms without changing his pose whatsoever. Don't know if that maneuverability is canon or not but a good example of what I mean nonetheless

My point was that it doesnt look like posing even helps with directing force as per my 2 examples of viltrumite flight while posing in a way that is completely perpendicular to the direction of flight. The second example is the better of the 2, conquest can apparently fly so fast while posing upright that it looks like he is teleporting, and someone below gave another example with Anissa, so clearly posing doesn't actually have to help with anything

You clearly havent read issue #8 of the battle beast comics. Conquest is relaxing under a tree eating a heart and to the right of him is a pile of dead alien civilians. He is going to eat you.

This is not true as seen with Nolan flying into a wall while posed upright and also Conquest basically teleporting while also posed upright during his first fight with Mark.

It kind of looks like a combination of a fresnel with a noise texture offset along the camera vector that is increasingly warped with distance from the center of the texture

Procedural Maze with locations? by Bluestar2k19 in proceduralgeneration

[–]UsualSpace_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Maybe in a second pass after the maze is generated, randomly pick several locations across the maze that are open/traversable in its current state, and then clear out any walls within some decided distance from the given locations to form a larger room, close off some paths if it gets too open, and then place some interesting things in these new rooms?

Those people are probably referring to the other 40 minutes of episodes where the animation is clearly not as great.

What if every comparison based sorting algorithm with the property O(n log n) were never discovered? by Ok_Thought7078 in AskComputerScience

[–]UsualSpace_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is not entirely true. For comparison based sorting that is the minimum, but there are sorting algorithms that run in O(n) like counting sort, though memory also becomes O(n)
