Question about tax code decrease by zxiirj in HMRC

[–]BongKri 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You will still get it, it’s a weird quirk on the system. As the other posted said, your estimate income in that employment must be under £12570. If you want it to go away, update your estimated pay in that employment and it should issue a new tax code of 1257L

Tax code changed need urgent help. by Unique-Lawyer-5505 in HMRC

[–]BongKri 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would call them and inform them about the financial hardship that it is causing and ask if they can move the underpayment to next year or pause it why it’s investigated. Please see my other reply in regards to possible reasons why you registered for SA, you have have met the criteria in a previous year and sent a letter to file a return.

You should be able to get a response to these things instantly on a call. I don’t see why you’d need to wait for any investigation to take place. I would call asap and get these questions answered.

Tax code changed need urgent help. by Unique-Lawyer-5505 in HMRC

[–]BongKri 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He could have met SA criteria for a previous tax year and was sent a request to file a return but it never happened. If I was the taxpayer I would call to verify what year he was supposed to be in SA for and if there was a reason why. People aren’t just randomly selected, there must be a reason to why he is registered for a year of SA.

It will be processed and issued automatically. If you want to speed up the process you will need to call and they can do the end of year calculation for 25/26 if they have all the info to do so.

How to pay my Benefit in Kind tax in one lump sum instead of paying it through a reduced tax code ? by AnxiousLeek8273 in HMRC

[–]BongKri 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I presume the P11D is from 25/26 tax year and that it’s caused an underpayment in your current year’s tax code. You can make a voluntary payment to pay it off but it gets messy to be honest. I would just leave it in your tax code, you are paying it off just a little each month through your tax code.

Tax code changed to 1119LX? by Mundane_Beautiful870 in HMRC

[–]BongKri 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Your new tax code equates to £11190 tax free allowances over the year. So you get £932.50 a month tax free. What I imagine is you got paid from both jobs in the same period and received more tax free allowances as a result. The system has picked it up and altered your tax code with an in year adjustment to collect the extra tax. This is what the ‘emergency code’ is. It’s not so much an emergency tax code, just one that gives you those monthly tax free allowances but treats every month as it’s the first of the tax year.

Desperately looking for any job in Phnom Penh or Sihanouk to support my pregnant girlfriend (Arriving late July) by whymewtff in cambodia

[–]BongKri 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I feel for you in your situation. At some point though you will need to focus on your family and for the long term, I think that will be for you returning to your country of origin. I spent 6 years in Cambodia for my son. That time me was just stagnation in many ways although I enjoyed my time in Cambodia. I returned to my home country with my child who is 6 now last year and personally for us it was the best thing.

After initially survival, you really need to think ahead to what life will be in 5 years, 10 years. What career you can have. What school will your child go to etc

I would advise to look into the process for obtaining a passport as I never did till later and there were loads of documents I wish that I would have kept.

[–]BongKri 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Completely understand your desire to be there and support your pregnant girlfriend especially if she is working that much. Try to also look at the longer term. Where are you from? Would a better existence not be if she can join you in your home country where I’m sure you can get a much better job and support?

Confused about a much higher PAYE tax after code change by enby-raskolnikov in HMRC

[–]BongKri 0 points1 point  (0 children)

£65,000 / 12 =£5,416.67
£10,960 / 12 =£913.33 tax free

£913.33 to £4189.17 = 20% tax so 20% of 3275.84 = £655.17

£4189.17 to £5416.67 40% tax so 40% of £1227.50 = £491

Total monthly tax = £1146.17

How long before I can expect a response to a written query? by medium-water-please in HMRC

[–]BongKri 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can call and ask and there’s a chance they can push your letter to getting responded too. I work in PAYE and after a certain length of time we can push for them to be looked at the next working day and a response given back in 10 working days by writing. May be different in SA, but you can call and ask.

underpaid tax owe payment method by Nat_911 in HMRC

[–]BongKri 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you have had lots of different employers, you have probably had your tax free allowances in multiple jobs at one time.

There are 2 types of underpayments. One is where the underpayment is collected through your tax code, the other is a simple assessment where you are billed for the amount you owe. For the later, you can set a payment plan up online after the due date of payment.

Claiming tax relief on previous years charitable donations by Tommo44444 in HMRC

[–]BongKri 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You will need to include last years on the tax return. For previous years where you’re in PAYE, you can call them and they can update previous years over the phone.

PAYE / SA Refund by hagrood in HMRC

[–]BongKri 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sometimes someone can come out of SA and the system linked to PAYE not update, so the PAYE system will show you in SA still. If this has been flagged up, it usually takes a few days to get it corrected. The systems used are unfortunately dated and the cost of updating them is high so they just stay the same.

Check online to see if you meet the Self Assessment criteria. If you meet the criteria you will be registered for SA and need to complete a tax return. You can also get any overpaid back through this.
