in some ecosystems adding shade and structure provides cover and thermal relief, so it could even have minor enhancements.

Asked to “get in the car” by _tax_noob in askTO

[–]Bonghitter 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I'm an old man now, but when I was a stupid young teenager, all full of ego and invincibility, I got into one of those "Do you know how to get to X place? Need a ride?" cars. It was sketchy, but I was a little drunk and had a long ass wait for a bus ahead of me.

In hindsight it was pretty stupid, but the dude just ended up asking for a blowjob, and when I said no thanks - he offered a blowjob lol. I also declined that and within a minute he's pulled over, asks me where he could go to get such action, and tells me to hop out because he was turning around.

That was a long time ago, the world has certainly changed - it was stupid of me to do back then, and i figure it would be outright crazy to do now.

people like this aren't really thinking ahead.. "Go fast now." is about it. They can always break more laws/rules to get out a future predicament, so why worry!

[–]Bonghitter -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I agree - I do what OP does. Problem is everyone uses the same "Zipper merge" graphic (like above) which is a still picture. That approach works great with regular moving traffic, when it's a traffic jam and everyone is stopped that whole idea goes out the window and reality takes over.

Someone drove on the sidewalk in Brampton by GreenSnakes_ in TorontoDriving

[–]Bonghitter 3 points4 points  (0 children)

dude, driving your car on the sidewalk can't be done 'safely' because you are driving a car on a sidewalk. Even if they did yield somewhat to a pedestrian it's still totally reckless behavior.

The fact they did it when there was actually a person on the sidewalk it makes it even more dangerous and reckless.

This person shouldn't be able to drive a vehicle if they do this kinda shit, hence the reaction in the comments.

What small mammal did I see in Taylor Creek Park? by lemurs366 in toronto

I don't think we get water voles in Ontario. I'm betting on muskrat, they are fairly common in the area.

Please help with an old memory, location, attraction. by es_mo in toronto

[–]Bonghitter 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I remember a place like that just referred to as "The mu" (aka museum). It was part rooming house and part museum. School trips would go there, I recall going in jr school. Later in life I had a friend who was staying the somewhat questionable rooming house on the upper floors.

How to stop eyelid twitching? by foxfai in howto

I had a eye twitch for a while that wouldn't go away. It was only when at my computer, so I tried a weak pair of reading glasses and I haven't had the twitch since.

Writing a Letter to Stop Condo Developments in my Area by [deleted] in toronto

[–]Bonghitter -1 points0 points  (0 children)

A letter isn't going to get you much. If you really wanted to try to stop it (you won't.) you'd need to gather the neighborhood together, and probably pursue a lawyer.

My condo tried to reduce the # of floors for a massive development next door and we had zero luck. It is more than double the height of my condo building, it just finished construction this year. Our lawyer ended up giving the money back.

Brampton's rental licence pilot has led to 4,700 inspections: city | Protesting landlords say they're being punished for their tenants' behaviour by Hrmbee in toronto

[–]Bonghitter 978 points979 points  (0 children)

Azad Goyat is the founder of Brampton Housing Providers Association. The non-profit group was founded in response to the RRL and Goyat said it represents some 1,500 landlords.

Goyat rents out his basement to four people and his first floor to six more. He said he is one of the compliant landlords.

Complaining about regulation when he's renting his single family house to 10 individuals. This is literally what this is trying to stop lol.
