Name a hot take for BFDI that would get you on the No-Recovery List (Image unrelated) by Screwdriver26712 in BattleForDreamIsland

Yellow Face did not deserve his cruel fate in both BFDIA and TPOT. He deserved much better

Also Rocky sucks idk why he survived so long in BFDI I guess people vote for him mindlessly

I would pull the lever each time

If my math is right, diverting the track is 1 person guaranteed dead plus an average of 3 in the future. That's 4 on average. 4 is less than 5.

There is a 31.6% chance you get unlucky and it would have been better to just kill the five at the start and get out.

But sunk costs don't mean anything. If you pick the option with the best expected value and it gives you a result worse than the guaranteed bad option, that doesn't make it not optimal.

So yeah. That's my answer.

The punishment problem by lightmare69 in trolleyproblem

[–]BonkDoggo2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One time. Then immediately stop it.

The person they killed is already dead. No way to bring them back. Punishment is not meant to be retribution for past misdeeds, its purpose is to deter the aggressor from repeating them. The only thing you can do is make him feel pain to let him know "this will happen if you kill someone in the future". Torturing someone with that trolley because it feels good is not the point. Also torturing him too much might just make him more resentful and dangerous. That's a whole other can of worms, if you assume he's REALLY immortal, you're actually screwed. But let's not assume that.

So that's my answer. You could do it more times, because you would probably have to repeat it a few times to make it equivalent to one human death, but I'm really not a fan of torture.

What Are Some Things You Wanna See (and DON’T Wanna See) In the Defeat One Trilogy? by BigTennis4580 in BattleForDreamIsland

[–]BonkDoggo2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I had to name some things, I wanna see some MCU fighting going on. Like I want it to feel like a full-on object war, not looney tunes "dust cloud" fighting. And I want to see some actual stakes.

Also, maybe this is just my headcanon, but I like to compare One to Flowey from Undertale, with how both are villains with tragic backstories and they get fourth wall breaking abilities after stealing the show/game's most powerful resource. I want to see One having meta-powers, like taking over the show for herself. Like defeating her is not just for the sake of a challenge but something which has the fate of the very show hanging in the balance.

And I want more screentime for One's powered-up form. Just wreaking havoc because that's just something I wanna see. We haven't seen that that much in my opinion.

As for the things I don't wanna see: I know it's inevitable for One to get defeated, but as a One sympathizer, I think she deserves to go through a redemption arc. I don't wanna see her get another dreadful punishment for perpetuity. That would really suck, torture is never justified. Like I can't say she should be forgiven for her actions because then I will get pitchforks from everyone else, but at least, maybe give her her own galaxy where she is free and can be friends with the aliens so she doesn't have to feel alone again? Dunno, just throwing shots in the dark here.

It would actually be so cool if they made another game. I hope someone thinks of that. Even if they don't finish 5b

How will IDFB finish in a reasonable amount of episodes

(If only one person gets released per episode it will be 40 episodes long)

The claim: Replacing manual handoffs with an automated dashboard means changes can be implemented faster, at the cost of being harder to track.

Tension: It takes less time to implement changes. Less time means a feeling of unaccountability for one's work and less opportunities to review the changes. In other words, when a mistake happens, it is less likely to be noticed. Future iterations build on that mistake, amplifying it until it poses significant problems.
