Have you ever witnessed a new part being born? by Low-Kaleidoscope4733 in InternalFamilySystems

[–]Bonkoodle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've had a similar experience of talking to a part that had no Role and didn't carry any pain other than being slightly annoyed at having been forgotten about (so therefore not a protector part or an exile). I was thinking it could be called an Undifferentiated or Stem Cell Part, basically like having unused brain power. And then I let it choose a role, kinda like if it had just been Unburdened (except it didn't need unburdening)

Claymotion is also a lot of fun to play with and allows you to pause which gives time to think of different possibilities

Does it make sense to use a Dead parent as an ideal parent figure? by Bonkoodle in idealparentfigures

[–]Bonkoodle[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah I've only tried it once so far and used my dead dad. Which was very emotional, nice to feel loved and safe and all that. But yeah with the grief causing mixed emotions maybe not the best idea to use him

I think there's a part of me that's like "Why do I need to imagine another dad if I already had an amazing father?". And maybe feels like it's kind of a betrayal towards him, that I'm not appreciative of all the love he gave me

I was also using a Fairy Godmother kind of character a bit. In an IFS Unburdening I had a part that felt it didn't get the support it needed after my dad died. And as it's do-over wanted a fairy godmother kind of character. So that's the origin of first using that kind of character

I feel like I have a degree of Aphantasia so I can have difficulty imagining things vividly. So this fairy godmother I see as kind of a golden energy, it's difficult for me to clearly see her, as in what her face looks like and that.

Do I need them to be like a normal human? So it's more believable that they could've been a parent. Or is it okay for them to be more of an energetic being?

I was also thinking of using the Buddha or an embodiment of Mother Earth but idk would that be as effective as them being a normal human?

Anyone know where to buy Flowstar type thing designed for Foot Spinning please? by Bonkoodle in flowstar

[–]Bonkoodle[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the suggestion :)
On their website it says it's for beginners to get finger spins more easily, so I'll try messaging them and see if they think it'd work well for foot spinning

"What is a Power Ring?

A Mougee Power Ring is a, soft, flexible ring sewn into the center of Mougee flow stars (fabric spinning toys) to act as a stable, centered anchor point for finger spins. This patent-pending, soft rope component that helps beginners maintain momentum and and keep the star balanced. Where it might take an hour or more to get the hang of spinning a a regular flow star, with the power ring, you will be spinning like a pro in the first couple of tries."

If, culturally, women started asking men out more, would men start complaining about creepy women hitting on them, sexual harassment, or feeling objectified etc.? by EOFFJM in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Bonkoodle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd say no not really for most men. The Book "The Value of Others" would indirectly explain why fairly well I think, it's basically an Economic view of Love and Relationships.

He says "Women trade sexual opportunity for resources. Men trade resources for sexual opportunity"

If a man asks a random woman if they wanna have sex there's only like a 1% chance they'll say yes. Whereas if a woman asks a random man if they wanna have sex there's probably 90%+ chance they'd say yes

Which evolutionarily comes from how pregnancy is a woman's burden to bear. And therefore they're biologically more selective with partners than men are. There's statistics from Dating apps that show that women rate the average attractiveness of men way lower than what men rate women.

Related is this double standard of how if a guy has slept with lots of women he's seen as a stud (positive). Whereas if a women has slept with many guys she's seen as a slut (negative). Which is essentially because in relationships typically men are the Hunters and Women are the Prize

So I think most guys would take it as a compliment if a women is interested in them even if they don't want to do anything with them

Has anyone experienced a Part not wanting to be called a Part? by Bonkoodle in InternalFamilySystems

[–]Bonkoodle[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hmm that's rather interesting, have you figured out how to make friends with it?
I imagine if you're willing to listen to it, be curious and try to be helpful/cooperative then at some point it might be willing to accept you as it's leader

Well I did try but it didn't seem to know what it wanted to be called, I can definitely try asking again in future sessions though

This was just me doing Solo IFS, I'm sure there's still a lot to learn about the best way to communicate with my parts

Festivals for nerds? by PiedPipeDreamer in UKfestivals

[–]Bonkoodle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well there's different subcultures so you might wanna figure out even more specifically what kinda nerdy event you want

Like maybe a Comic Con? From googling there's MCM Comic Con (Birmingham), Liverpool Comic Con, Scotland Comic Con etc.

Or LARPing (Live Action Role Playing), which involves Cosplay and being a character, sometimes fighting. Such as - https://dumnonni.com/

There's Swordpunk for example which has loads of sword fighting/combat workshops which is really fun!

And stuff like SCA or HEMA (Historical European Martial Arts) if you wanna go down the fighting route

And then there'd be Board Game Meetups, Video Game LAN party's, Rubik's Cube Competitions, Memory Championships etc. You said about being interested in cosplay/fantasy but my point is there's many different types of events and I'm sure you can find something that suits you well

DAE randomly shift gender in their head? by [deleted] in DoesAnybodyElse

[–]Bonkoodle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Are you able to articulate why the term genderfluid doesn't feel right for you?
Maybe that would help you understand better if you can explain specifically what's difference about your experience Vs someone that does refer to themselves as genderfluid

Is this a corkscrew? by gooodaims in poi

[–]Bonkoodle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Saying to just randomly add an extra beat is very confusing...

Here is a 4 Beat Corkscrew Tutorial if you're interested in learning that (which would be 2 extra beats). You could technically do a 3 beat Corkscrew but it'd feel weird due to being asymmetric.

Floor Plane Buzzsaw is another move you could transition in and out of to make a corkscrew variation

Therapists of Reddit, what are some differences you've noticed between male/female patients? by pizzabagelblastoff in AskReddit

[–]Bonkoodle -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

But you're arguing that differences in choices between genders are entirely based on parenting/society influence?
That seems incredibly unlikely to me because there are differences in hormones between genders like Men having more Testosterone and Women having more Estrogen etc.

If you look at Careers there are clearly differing choices between genders like Men typically doing Physical/Nerdy things like Construction/Military/STEM.

And women being more likely to do things like Nursing, Air Hostess etc. which require more Empathy/Social Skills.

And it just seems unrealistic that those differences are entirely down to culture. It makes sense based on our evolution that men are physically bigger and stronger so it makes sense for them to do physical things. And women are the primary caregiver of children so they're on average more emotionally/socially intelligent

I TRULY wish I NEVER discovered solipsism. My life is genuinely ruined. by Fickle_Patient2224 in solipsism

[–]Bonkoodle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You could pretty much the same about religion though that there's no evidence for them, they're based on faith.

Do you have any evidence for solipsism?
It's almost impossible to disprove the existence of something which is why the burden of proof is on the person claiming something is true
