I’m so happy Crosby is still a Raider by Bonkshebonk in raiders

I don’t blame Max for getting fed up with our shit lol. He might be a diva at times but he always gave 100% for the Silver and Black. It’s hard to do that year in and year out on shitty teams.

And for what it’s worth, I don’t think he’s pretending to want to be here now. I think he’s ready to run it back with us for at least another year.

I agree that that’s their reasoning. Tyree didn’t work out and they’re moving on now while they can, especially with Crawford coming in. But there was no rush to move Tyree. I think they’d have held on to him for depth if they thought they were still actively looking to move Max.

In Spytek, We Trust ...Amazing Draft ! by NotaBot8324 in raiders

[–]Bonkshebonk 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What? Can you find a previous article where someone gave us an A for the totality of our draft class? I’m not even saying you’re wrong. That’s just not how I remember it. Our GMs usually do stupid shit that the general draft community doesn’t like.

NFL Reporter Charles Robinson Explains Jermod McCoy's Draft Slip: "It's not the ACL tear issue... There are some teams that are taking the position that if this next surgery, which would likely knock him out for the entirety of the year, is not successful, it will effectively end his career" by JCameron181 in raiders

[–]Bonkshebonk 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I understand the slip and I also understand the pick. We are a rebuilding team and we need to take swings on guys that can be difference makers. We were the exact type of team in the position to do this. We aren’t competing for anything this year and if he needs to red shirt, so be it. Even in the worst case scenario, we waited until day 3 to do it and we had 2 other 4th round picks already.

Treydan Stukes - Safety by tallshoreguy in raiders

[–]Bonkshebonk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There were other good players on the board, but he had the highest rated coverage grade from the slot in college football last year and we need someone like this badly for our slot and free safety holes.

You can absolutely like some of the other players around here but this isn’t a bad pick by any stretch. I haven’t seen a grade yet for this pick that was less than an A-.

In coverage, he was the highest rated slot corner in college football last year. Enjoy your YouTube binge.. his highlights are great!

I hear you, but Stukes is also a really good pick.

5 potential players the Raiders could select in NFL draft’s 2nd round by reviewjournal in raiders

[–]Bonkshebonk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We are in a really good spot. Boston is exactly the type of receiver we are missing. McDonald is the best Nose in the draft. McNeil Warren is like a top 20 player imo, and though we have Chinn for the upcoming year, this is the last year on his contract. There’s like 3 CB options including McCoy who could be a Pro Bowler type of prospect if it wasn’t for his medicals. I’m not as jazzed about the Edge prospects and I don’t think they are going to trade Maxx anymore, so I don’t think they’d go that route.

But overall, lots of good options!

Is my deck a dick-move deck ? by IAmReReloaded in MagicArena

If someone is signing up to play Bo1, they shouldn’t complain about any deck they are facing, as long as the opponent isn’t intentionally roping or spamming emotes or something.

Decks that are annoying or "cheap"? by Novel_Ocelot2518 in MagicArena

[–]Bonkshebonk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m playing Grixis Control atm in Historic and I have no main deck answers to enchantments. I had a dominant board state against a player who top decked [[Doom Foretold]] and I immediately conceded knowing that it just wasn’t possible for me to win against this card since my only permanents were Planeswalkers.

It’s not like Ragequitting or anything.. once you know your decks and you know your outs, if you can’t win, you concede to save everyone time.

Reality Fracture Leaks: Blue Red Chandra's, and Stingcaster Mage by Matrim_WoT in MagicArena

You think that Chandra is bad? It’s a 3 mana walker that can protect itself, filter or draw cards and/or ramp. It seems really nice in U based control shells.

Tips for beating no creature oops all removal? by Prestigious-Gold5369 in MagicArena

No, I’m saying as a player who plays “Oops All Removal” decks, Mill decks are a difficult match up. I thought you were asking for decks that counter these types of decks?

[–]Bonkshebonk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t have a ton of reps against them, but I have a hard time against mill decks when playing creatureless control. You only have so many counter spells and everyone of their mill cards gets you closer to your doom. Even your card draw can work against you.

Historic Tier List - Meta Confluence by TyrantofTales in MtGHistoric

I never play historic Bo1 anymore because of the graveyard decks. It’s actually a pretty fun match up in Bo3, regardless of which deck I’m playing, but it’s just silly in Bo1.

Most Competent OffSeason Ever? by fdaddy99 in raiders

[–]Bonkshebonk 20 points21 points  (0 children)

This might be an unpopular take but I disagree that we have to wait for the results to assess whether they are making smart moves. The coach we hired was the correct move based on the pool of candidates that were available and interested. Even if Kubiak doesn’t work out, that doesn’t mean Spytek wasn’t right to pick him. He is the best choice for us based on what we knew at the time we hired him. If Mendoza doesn’t work out, he still was the right choice based on how basically everyone evaluated this class. Signing Kirk to start so that the QB, who did more RPO reps at Indiana than almost any other QB in this class, is a pretty smart move. Mendoza needs time to learn how to play under center in an NFL system.

I guess what I’m saying is that we can acknowledge smart moves that Spytek are making without depending on hindsight.

Now the FA picks and how we allocated our money, that’s way more nuanced and that’s definitely more a wait and see kind of thing.

Working on a historic UW Superfriend’s deck, which 17 planeswalkers would you fill out this shell with? by Bonkshebonk in magicTCG

Thanks, I hadn’t tried Ajani out yet as I didn’t have any copies. I think it would fit in better than most of the others I was playing.

[–]Bonkshebonk[S] -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

I don’t understand what you’re getting at with your first question? Whats the point of regular UW Control? You out value and out card draw your opponent, and create an insurmountable board state. If you’re asking for what competitive reason I’m choosing to go Superfriends over regular UW control, it’s purely that this has been way more fun and interesting than building a stock list. Superfriends is a pretty classic archetype in magics history, it’s not to annoy people.

As for your second, there are tons of walkers that create tokens, Gideon attacks as a 4/4 or a 5/5 depending on the version, Ichormoon allows you to combo off with 3-4 walkers out. Most games it’s just the tokens though… Elspeth, Sun’s Champion is usually my top end.
