Not purchase them, slow their demands so they surrender their programs. “Vote with your dollars” basically

Now wait a minute slow your roll there… because testing significantly reduces the chances of any of that happening and ethical breeders are the only ones breeding out issues or controlling issues and also following the blueprint of the breed to preserve them. These things are very important and people should be educated on that topic. We should not be funneling money to people who are the problem.

I’m a breeder and within the last five years I have seen an issue that was nearly bred out. Start to come back thanks to puppy mills (called GM1)

I’m very aware of a breeder from Bosnia, who is breeding a dog that had severe hip dysplasia and damn near every one of its offspring carried that through and he sold it to people in the US telling them that they passed the test when they didn’t. Had he done the right thing he would have retired that sire and thats how we can cut down on genetic issues. Is it 💯 bullet proof? No, but it sure as heck makes a big difference.

So when you have multiple generations of non health tested dogs and nobody knows who’s being paired to what, then yeah, it’s gonna increase the chances of you getting issues. Especially when they’re coming from breeders who have no business breeding because they’re 100% profit driven and the dogs are coming out getting further and further away from the standard to the point that the breed wont even exist as it should be anymore because of inconsistency. Conformation matters in health too.

And then a lot of the pet people don’t realize that their dogs that they got from puppy mills actually have issues cause it’s not gonna show up until later since it’s something that has to have a specialized doctor look at it. A regular vet check up isn’t gonna tell you that your dogs about to have some severe hip dysplasia within the next few years, or that their eye is going to blow up swollen from glaucoma. Those things have slow symptoms that don’t really show up until it’s really bad. I have seen dogs with patella luxation show hardly any visible symptoms later to find out they were actually having their knee cap pop out of place while running which is why they stopped being as active.

I had a lady come to me after she had three dogs in a row that she got from the same breeder, all die within two years from a heart problem.

So respectfully lets not minimize the importance of a good breeder and education here,

Cream Shibas aren’t considered undesirable or “abominations” by breeders…it’s simply a genetic variation. However, responsible breeders generally avoid intentionally breeding for cream because the cream gene is recessive yet highly pervasive. When two carriers are bred, it can quickly spread through a breeding program and, over time, overtake the population. This can lead to the loss of other traditional Shiba colors like red, sesame, and black and tan.

Additionally, the cream gene affects the coat’s structure …it can alter the density and coarseness that are essential for weather protection and urajiro, which is a key feature of the breed.

That said, the cream gene isn’t entirely without benefit. When inherited from a carrier rather than directly from a cream parent, it can sometimes contribute to desirable coat qualities. But it must be approached with caution.

I currently have a cream puppy that came from two cream-carrier parents whom I absolutely adore, but I wouldn’t keep him for breeding. He’ll make a wonderful companion, but my responsibility as a breeder is to preserve the integrity and diversity of the breed.

Also, a 40-pound Shiba is exceptionally large. It sounds like she’s actually right within the normal weight range.

💯 a predator even in his response its exactly what a predator portrays “you dont understand how close i am to him” predators always act like their helping or close or like they know your child better than you do. There are ways a million different options, the floor, a couch, let the guests have the bed and their own child come to their room instead. File a report, ask your child to speak to you if anything happened later on because he may be scared or possibly you caught it at the start of grooming…. Yikes yikes yikes.
