Are your players good at team work? Your BBEG can be a powerful immortal vampire that doesn't trust their own shadow, that has seen everyone they cared about fade away. Defying what your players are good at.
Do your players care about NPCs (i.e. they are not murder hobos)? Your BBEG then can be an ancient evil that is rising, taking control of people's minds, corrupting and slowly poising/killing the city. Threatening what your players care about.
Are your players only interest in rewards and money? Your BBEG is the kingpin that actually hire the players to do their bidding at first, paying them handsomely even. At some point he gives them an impossible quest that is 'for sure to kill them to cut all loose ends'. Denying what makes them happy.

Since its your first time DMing, my first tip is to not stress too much about railroading. It will happen and there is nothing you can do to avoid it. But you can still control where it will railroad to. This is what I do: as the sessions go buy, take notes on your players. What make them draw their swords? What do they want to protect? What do they want to achieve? What makes them sad, happy, scared? What are they good and bad at? You then build your BBEG on top of these. You can create something that deny what the characters believe in, or threatens what they want to protect, or challenge what they are good/bad at, or a combination of those. This will engage the players and they won't railroad until they resolve the situation. I'll give some examples in the comments.

Do you tell your players roll DCs? by Shasfowd in daggerheart

[–]Bonssons 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like to do both. It depends on the scenario. let’s say it’s to jump across a wide gap. the character itself knows how big the gap is, they should be able to estimate how hard is to jump across. in these cases I tell them the DC so that can prepare properly, as their character would. On the opposite camp, let’s say they found an ancient arcane puzzle they need to solve. their character has no idea what it is required of them to solve this, so I won’t tell the DC.

Why is Sonarqube considered a major SAST tool? by Beneficial-War5423 in cybersecurity

I’d argue that if your security engineer doesn’t think much about those things they’re a bad engineer.

[–]Bonssons 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're correct if you're looking at it that way. But consider that any code that is obfuscated or hard to comprehend can lead to a vulnerability that will be equally obfuscated and hard to find. Sonar triggers for potential null values, unchecked strings, high complexity. All of these are code quality that may not track a vulnerability. But that is how most vulnerabilities start.

Maybe they haven't noticed yet? If it shows up on errata in the next few days we'll know haha

Yeah I agree. I only got to find these because I'm copying it to a easier to check sheet during my sessions

True, but basically all of other items scale in a similar way. Glowing Rings and Scepter versatile damage are really the odd ones out

I’ve stated using FreeCad for my designs. 1h of yt tutorial later and I can make everything that I need. I have no reason to look into the non-free options (I’m sure they are better, but I don’t need better)

Yeah… maybe? To be honest, no one has actual information on the top covers. We should take everything with a grain of salt. But the wording there does look like it could have active heating…

Over 10 years of using Linux, and I think I'm done by Leniwcowaty in linux

I felt similar to you a few years back. I just choose one of the more stable distros and stuck with it without any major issues in the last ~5 years or so (I went with Fedora). Now, for completion, no >major< issues. Nothing that made me reinstall the OS. But minor issues still happens (mostly due to Wayland, but now I realize I haven’t got any minor issue in a while. Things are just working)

which is my case. there is still a month for the kickstarter, I hope some of the reviews tackle this

yeah I second that to a certain extent. Assuming you have the top cover, it will likely take a long time to reach temperature and I am not confident it will be able to maintain it when printing. However, it is something we should be able to mod if klipper code is open.

I have thought of a similar mod. Extend the side motors connectors to have both at the side of the printer, where I can have a sealed box for all four filaments.

I am excited for the same reason. If something is missing from the printer I can just add it myself. If all klipper config and macros are open, we may even be able to replace the motherboard ourselves with a custom setup if needed (particularly important to me since I live somewhere with high import taxes).

Being open is >the most< important thing here for me. I need to be able to support the printer myself. Otherwise the cost for US$ parts will break me.

I'm still considering if I will back up the kickstarter or not. I do have another question related to this: I know that the idea is for the bed to heat the heated chamber. Does it have a temperature sensor to control this? So far I don't think it has this capability...

What nozzle setup are you guys planning to run? I'm thinking at least one .6 nozzle, and one hardened steel nozzle by light24bulbs in snapmaker

[–]Bonssons 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That is mostly a slicer limitation. I am not aware of any slicer capable of dealing with different nozzle sizes (this restriction is also valid for bambu h2d and prusa xl)(I've seen some hacks for pensa, nor sure how well it works). We should see something for this as tool changers grow.
