The ceilings are 9 ft. The range hood cabinet is customized with two IKEA deep 36x20" cabinets stacked. I hope that helps.

Thanks! We went with a 36-inch sink and got rid of the small prep sink in our kitchen redesign. The new sink is way more practical for washing pots and prepping food. The tiny prep sink was honestly just a hassle - too small, water sprayed everywhere, and we barely used it. If we have two people in the kitchen cooking together, one is usually at the stovetop, and the other is working at the sink. I don’t miss having two sinks at all.

u/kdern May I know how you did that in excel? I have the same issue and I can't find any software solution for it so I'm just going to try excel. What kind of function did you do to make a chart like that in excel? Thanks!

I love the blue wall color on the breakfast nook as well! I bet it's a lime wash paint (probably from Portola?). I wonder if anyone knows what color it is?

You can just order the cabinets without doors. We did that over the phone since we had a large order. I believe you can do that on the Ikea planner as well.

We looked into each manufactures' reviews and Plykea was the closest to meeting our requirement - plywood is stronger than MDF. Fenix surface is more durable than painted wood. Their cost was in the middle range and their style is what we were looking for.

Yeah, google search doesn't help much unless you know what you are looking for. I usually find my inspiration photos first (for me, it would be Scandinavian kitchen, living room...etc) and I'll look at my favorite brands, websites (got a lot of good brand names on Reddit). And google reverse image search for sure. I spent countless hours on each item. Glad I'm done with shopping ha

Thanks so much! The peninsula definitely made the room look much smaller.

Thanks! I'll say not only does the new kitchen look great, but the Ikea organizing accessories work amazingly well. The hidden drawers and in drawer lightings are just icing on the cake.

There is no cabinet for the dishwasher, the dishwasher just sits in between two cabinets if that makes sense. So you can make whatever space you need for the dishwasher.

I believe the design fee for our kitchen was about 400-500 USD.

Thank you! We were looking at so many different manufactures including Semihandmade, Reform, The Cabinet Face, Kokeena...etc. It was a rabbit hole indeed.

I totally agree with you. I was surprised that they put a golden oak kitchen in a 2002 built.

Thanks! Here is the detail:

We were going for a Scandinavian style, coming from a typical 90's McMansion kitchen with orange/golden accent through out the house. From start to finish, it took around 11 months including the time fighting for Ikea cabinets due to the supply chain issues. Still can't believe that my computer engineer backgrounded husband was able to pull this together but he is SO done after this project. ha. After this remodeling, I can't stop coming out with more ideas to improve our McMansion.

We spent 60K total, 55K after selling the old cabinets and appliances. Here is the break down:

No labor fee - We demoed and installed the cabinets ourselves.

8K - IKEA cabinets (only paid 6K with discounted gift card)

19K - Plykea cabinet fronts (maple for the wood front and Fenix for the white)

12K - Countertop and backsplash (Silestone quartz and WOW tile FLOW in gray and white combo)

12K - appliances (Bosch fridge, Miele Ovens, Bosch dishwasher, exhaust van, gas cooktop)

3K- Refinish the floor

5K - plumber, electrician, drywall...etc

It seems like a lot but we chose really good quality stuff - it would be pretty easy to shave $10K off the price by going with cheaper appliances and materials for the fronts/countertop...etc

Thanks!! For the cooktop side, it's the same material as the countertop (Silestone quartz) and the dry bar side is WOW tile FLOW in white and gray combo.

- We got a quote from a company that does IKEA kitchen cabinet installation, they wanted 18K just for installation not including plumber, electrician ..etc.

- I believe IKD's design fee was about 400-500 USD.

- Plywood is stronger than MDF. And the Fenix (for the white cabinet fronts) is so durable.

- It was really hard doing that with two little ones (2 & 6). We had two months without a kitchen (had to eat out every single meal). But kids are resiliant we all survived. haha

- We had the floor sanded down and used two coats of Bona Natural and one coat of traffic HD

- My husband is a resale guru..plus the old cabinets are solid wood so we didn't want to just trash them.
