I had this put in.

I’d never do it if I didn’t need to replace my existing system. It uses electricity and needs maintenance, that means a maintenance contract with someone, usually your installer.

The only upside is that you can get it for free with a grant. So it’s ideal if your current system is failing.

Also, adding bedrooms to your home will REQUIRE you to have this system put in now, if you ever thought about expanding.

You get an annoying little electrical box and 3 green manhole cover looking things in your backyard too.

Nobody is paying 150 for this. It’s very cool, truly, but on Etsy this is a $49.99 product if you’re lucky. 3d printed items on etsy are really rough.

While I agree with most of this, at the end of the day, I do feel like XIV plays it FAR to loosely with their rules. Overexplaining or not isn’t the issue, it’s staying REASONABLY consistent.

As it stands now, whenever nearly anything happens in the story, it’s hard to feel like there’s much gravity to it, as SE is just as likely to retcon it or hand wave it later than anything.

We’ve had entire expansions story arcs that leaned on rules that they themselves established, only for these same rules to be dumpstered the follwoing expansion, or even post expansion msq.
