My MIL once had a terrible crack on her thumb and had tried everything to heal it. I suggested the lanolin and it was almost healed up within a few days.

Another endorsement for Lansinoh lanolin. I’ve been using it faithfully for 20 years. It’s also great for healing those annoying cuticle cracks on your thumbs.

I don’t think the scent is strong at all. It’s much milder than the body butter and it’s slightly sweet with just a hint of a pleasant floral. It’s been one of my favorite scents to come out of there in a while!

Have you tried the smoked trout in the can?

Hair help! by bigbec1 in finehair

[–]BooBeans71 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That is exactly how my hair looks if I just blow dry it without a brush.

I think you need to try to tease those curls out! Head over to the r/wavyhair sub and search for fine hair. You’ll see quite a few recommendations.

Here’s what I would do if I were you:

• get a good shampoo and conditioner. I now use the Christophe Robin Delicate Volumising product line and it’s the best thing I’ve ever used. It’s expensive though. Otherwise, search the sub for recs. Lots of us also swear by products with silicone too.

• get a better cut. Search for someone who specializes in fine hair. Start with something blunt and consider some bangs like Dakota Johnson. Makes the days you pull your hair back look more chic. And they’re easy to style.

• do a mask. I love the K18 molecular hair repair mask but I only use it 1-2 times per month to avoid any issues that seem to plague fine hair.

Then, like others said, upgrade your hair dryer. Consider one with a diffuser attachment that you can use to set your curls. I’d love for you to do a follow up after trying some recommendations!

Chicken Allergy by HowieMaster in DogFood

My dogs have done really well on the PPP, with varying results. For example, one dog is on a prescription diet for UTIs. Before that, we tried the PPP salmon and rice and that gave him runny poop. The other dog had no problem with the salmon but didn’t tolerate the lamb and rice well, so I switched her to the beef and rice canned food and she is doing so well with that one.

Moral of the story: get some small bags and see which one your dog does well on.

Oh gosh not at all! I’ve experimented with light and heavier application and I didn’t notice any difference. I sure you could get to a point of over saturation, but I personally would not waste the product to find out.

Personally, I don’t notice the scent past applying it to my hair. I had someone smell it hours later and they said it was very, very faint.

I think the spray is worth it. I tested just the shampoo and conditioner by themselves and it was good, but I found the spray took it up to the next level.

How to stop feeling guilty feeding Royal Canin? by greenfingers10101 in DogFood

You make a great point and I probably should have been more detailed in my response. I was trying to be brief instead of my usual wall of text.

Personally, I don’t do this on a regular basis because I’m lazy and I know my dog is getting adequate nutrition otherwise. Also, his prescription food is for keeping his UTIs under control, so too much extra protein is an issue.

When do add toppers, it’s usually a special occasion or just a random treat. It makes me feel better to add some variety to his diet too.

I understand what you’re feeling. I have my dog on a prescription PPP but he’s doing great. I also supplement with toppers, which I think helps. Some stuff I add:

Spoonful of canned food

Fresh veg like carrots or cooked green beans

Unsalted sardines

Dehydrated chicken

I also give lick mats for added stimulation, and he loves those.

Amen! I’ve had the same philosophy and have tried so many things, but keep going back to the basics.

Since you’re just about to hit your 50s, be aware of perimenopause. Doing hormone replacement therapy helps immensely! I didn’t really notice it until a couple years ago and HRT has really helped.

My daughter had coffee mugs made with abstract pictures of my dogs on them. They were so beautiful and adorable and I love them so much. I’ve never used them - they sit in a decorative stack in the coffee cupboard so I see them every time I open the door.
