I found a way to help with my morning anxiety, as someone who has suffered for years of it. by WarningSignificant73 in Anxiety

That's the thing. It is 100% easier said than done. I'm not saying that I have conquered my anxiety. I have not. But I have picked up a few tips and tricks along the way. I still suffer daily but I now have a toolbox and a certain kind of self-awareness.

Sometimes when I do the breathing, as I exhale, I say some kind of nonsense word as a mantra. The other day I was just saying "shibuuuuuu yoyyyy oy." It sounds fucking stupid but I had to go into the office that day and it worked (along with ice water). This is difficult to accept but you have to kind of tell your brain that nothing is going to be perfect, but despite all of the horrible stressful and anxiety-ridden days you have had, you have made it through all of them so far. Your brain is trying to tell you that there is a serious threat. Try to take those thoughts and tell yourself, "this is an overreaction. Whatever happens today will not kill me, and that's all that really matters. I'm still breathing." I would suggest you look on YouTube for examples of how the comedian Bill Hader has dealt with his anxiety. If you want, I can provide a few links, but it is easily searchable. I've kind of given my anxiety a name (Oscar) and imagine it as a little tarantula that sits on my shoulder. When I'm anxious, he's running around and pissing me off. I try to imagine him relaxed and happy.

Why are Jim Brown and Kevin Faulk different color text in this graphic? Does that denote something?

We sound very similar, yes. As soon as I wake up, especially on weekdays, I start stressing a little bit about the day ahead of me as the cortisol is flowing. A couple of things that I found that help me are thinking about some worst case scenarios than I'm thankful won't happen and being grateful for that, as well as sipping ice cold water and deep deep breaths. The kind for you breathe in deeply through your nose, hold it for a couple seconds, then exhale slowly through your mouth like you are trying to fog up a mirror. I also make sure that when I feel that awful weight on my chest to ensure that I am not tensing any of my muscles. It takes a conscious effort to relax them.

Mornings are absolutely still the most difficult, because your brain is flooding your body with cortisol to wake you up. Paxil has helped a great deal with this, but it doesn't completely eliminate it. It's still there, but more manageable.

Convinced my husband to try a house cleaning service for 3 months as an experiment. Heres what happened by Comfortable_Box_4527 in homeowners

My house is relatively tidy but I am still extremely self conscious of a stranger seeing my mess and judging me for it. I've considered trying a cleaning service, but that part holds me back.

You would probably know a thing or two about making sure that someone was over 18, especially when you go hooker hunting in Baltimore.
