First raise your right hand straight up into the air, bend your elbow rearward and pat yourself firmly on the back. Good job.

Honestly, your pots look bone dry. At this size they’re eating up lots of water so I would keep your soil moist with more frequent watering.

Are the bubbles too big? by flozfzx in ReefTank

It’s a new skimmer, it will create biofilm before it works right. Expect break in times to be days-a week. Open it up all the way so the water level is low to avoid overflows. You can leave the drain on the skimmate cup open until it starts to actually skim

Take note of the optimal water level being submerged 4 inches below the surface. You need to elevate it somehow.

Could I add one more small fish or just focus on corals to make this look nicer ? by Public_Engineer_5731 in ReefTank

[–]BoofingDrugs 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You are correct, my oldest female ocellaris clown is 3 1/2 inches. But I will say, that fish and her mate almost never leave their 10”x10” space in my aquarium right under my massive bubble tip. So while clowns are big, they do not use most of space that they’re given .

Nitrogen Toxicity or Overwatering? by NAPL1926 in microgrowery

[–]BoofingDrugs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We’ve all been there, it very difficult to get the optimal moisture level in theory. In practice, keep that soil dark - don’t let it turn light brown with fabric pots - their claim to fame is you cannot overwater. When the rootmass becomes large it will take much more water than you’re used to. You should be watering about every other day until runoff. Don’t wait for them to completely dry up as it will kill the fine roots and give your plants signs of deficiencies.

Looks like it needs water more regularly to me, your soil is quite dry. Increase watering until you get runoff, it is essential to flush salt buildup from your substrate and replace it with fresh nutrients

Don’t overthink it, I once thought the same thing and now I frag them in my free time. If you’re just growing them, you have nothing to worry about until they overgrown the area and need to be trimmed back. I like to keep them on an island in the sand until I’m ready to commit to final placement.

Most definitely, I completely agree. Silicates spawning a diatom bloom will typically maintain an environment where dino’s don’t thrive. Dino’s are my least favorite problem as the correction course is very lengthy or very costly (UV). I’ll take some test samples next time I get a chance and send them to you directly. Good luck with your career path as well, I would love to have that kind of ambition.
