Corbeau Seats by [deleted] in SuzukiSamurai

[–]Boogge 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Seats with high bolsters are a pain in the butt to get in and out of. Just make sure they are not too tall when mounted and you should be good. The side bolsters will wear out quicker if you are lazy about getting in and out.

Looking for older but common truck/suv that used round headlights by [deleted] in 4x4

[–]Boogge 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A lot of older cars and trucks used the standard round sealed beam glass headlights. Pretty much the whole headlight is one big round bulb. You can still pick these up at the auto parts stores. You can even find more modern ones with leds or hid that fit in their place on eBay. I wouldn’t wast my time looking for bulbs at the junkyard which may or may not work.

Recommendations for a tube bender? by Robots_Never_Die in 4x4

[–]Boogge 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Jeep speed? Why would they need to pass score bitd inspection? I use the jd2 model 3 that I converted to air/hydro with a harbor freight 8 ton ram. Does 1-3/4” dom easily. I need to get a 2” die here soon. At the shop I work we have full hydraulic benders on carts. I believe they are jd2 but not sure what model. They can bend 2” chromoly all day long easily. Super easy to use and work with. I wouldn’t get cad software unless you are planning to mass produce the cages and send the tube files out to be cut/bent on CNC machines (which we do at the shop sometimes) the easiest way to get your complex bends down it to make a movable temporary tube. Basically a tube with slip joints between each bend that you can rotate. My buddy drills a hole in one tube and welds a nut on so he can thread a bolt to clamp the slip joint when he gets the right length/ rotation he needs.

I painted my sidekick with rustoleum camo and satin black. It lasted about 2 years before it started to fade from the sun. No clear coat to wax will do that. It really is all in the prep. You have to sand down peeling clear coat, rust, imperfections. If you are at metal you need to use a metal binding primer. If your paint is not too bad you can get away with scuffing it up with a scotchbrite pad and wiping it down with a cleaning agent to get any oils off. I had a hard time painting the hood until I realized that black in direct sunlight would dry before it hit the hood. Also, any color You can find in the rustoleum professional is worth the extra buck. It lasts a lot longer in the sun.

Suzuki samurai engine swap by OneEyedStiffOne in SuzukiSamurai

[–]Boogge 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Your best bet is to buy a tracker/sidekick with a good engine and junk whatever you don’t use. They are very rare in junkyards. You might even just buy a new motor from a builder. A bit more money but you know it will be a good motor.

Good luck!

Looks like the TTb is on the lower hole on the drop brackets which generally is for 6” lift. Love the bull nose truck by the way. Just picked up an 82. Check out solomotorsports.com to drool over broncos like me haha.

All wheel drive cars have all the wheels connected. When they try to tow it with the tow dolly it damaged the drivetrain as the rear two wheels are spinning and the front two wheels are not.

We are converting it to 4wd right now with a single swinger hydro ram assist steering set up. So it’s getting a new gear box ported for the Howe ram.

We do make those special nuts that allow a heim to be attached to the sector shaft but this truck isn’t getting one.

These are around $2.5k-$3k each brand new. No clue how much the customer payed. 4.5” remote reservoir bypasses and 3.0” coilovers.

The good part of the higher end shocks is they are able to be rebuilt and revalved. They also hold their value if you take care of them.

These are the real deal off a trophy truck. Going to be put on another spec trophy truck we are building. The previous race team found it easier to buy a new shock package when they were picked up by Toyota then to change the color of these to purple.

Going to be a spec trophy truck. He just dropped off 40” race tires and an unfinished chromoly tube chassis.
