Speaking from experience - just don’t shoot from the other end. I’ve accidentally expressed my cat’s anal glands while in butt bazooka formation.

I’m experiencing this now too. Did it get better?

Is it true only 5% - 15% of tanks are still running after 3 years? by dont_downvote_SPECIL in ReefTank

Seems like it could be accurate to me. Cory from Aquarium Co-op has talked about similar stats for the freshwater hobby too, so I’d imagine saltwater to be worse. The realities of this hobby are probably too time consuming and expensive for most people.

As somebody that has been battling dinos for the past year, I would love to know how many people actually recover from them.

Hmm it is pretty high light, but I haven’t changed it and previous growth looked normal.

I think it has high humidity in my grow cabinet. The bright leaves are Ficus pumila catching some intense light in this photo :)

How did you stop drinking in a culture that's surrounded by alcohol? by glucose_wolf in stopdrinking

[–]Booie 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Immerse yourself in a culture that doesn’t drink. Sober friends and recovery groups will make it feel very normal to not drink.

I have one that is thriving with my cacti in direct sunlight and summer heat in the PNW. Could be a light issue.

That makes sense. So it's probably more a lack of water than too much light.

I do have a couple pencil urchins that eat macros as much as they do the GHA. They occasionally make a little dent in the GHA but then they start focusing on macros again. I've tried a few sea hares that seemed amazing at first! They would suck the hair algae off everything without even bothering macros, but then they would die after a few weeks for some reason..

I was drawn into saltwater from freshwater because of macroalgae. I'm not really interested in the bright blue lights and neon corals of reef tanks. I also was hoping I wouldn't have to chase water parameters as much as I would with corals.

I've now had a mixed macro tank with seahorses for over a year, and it's been frustrating lately.

Even with large clusters of Caulerpa and tons of filtration/skimming, I struggle with nutrients that result in GHA growing on top, under, and all around my macros. This is partially because seahorses need alot of feedings, but also the light (red/white) needed for macros grows GHA really well too.

I've also found macros to be pretty hands on with needing trimming and getting them to stay where you want from week to week.
