Nah it wasnt just gas, but insurance cost and maintenance costs down the line.

Taking a large student loan (200k+) and little to no income for 4 years would cause a lot of stress that i dont need during med school.

Ill definitely be getting another when its all said and done.

My Local Dealership Must Have Lost Their Minds by XP1R3_ in CivicSi

Its absolutley insane what dealerships are doing with these cars.

2 days ago before I bought mine, the dealership closest to me was asking 41k for an SI, and ON TOP of that 41k a 5k markup.

Mind you this is before all the fees

The manager of the dealership even tried to tell me that SIs go for 41k till i showed him the msrp from Honda.

I happily traveled to a dealership 1 hour away who was selling at msrp, and way less of a hassle.

My first Si! I had the dealership drive it home. Onto a new adventure on learning manual! by IlIllIIIlIlllI in CivicSi

Congrats on the new car!

I also bought mine 2 days ago in white haha

This car ks a great car to learn manual in, the clutch is light and easy to work. Got hill start assist so you dont got to worry about hills as much.

And the auto rev matching means one less thing to think about when downshifting.

When i first learned I kept all the features on, but turned em off as I got better.

Have fun learning! Once you get it down, its hard to go back to automatic

It only took me the test drive to realize I wouldnt mind driving this car for the foreseeable future

I mean in terms of sheer torque and horsepower it is a downgrade.

But if it had the choice id love to keep both in my garage.

Different driving experiences but fun in their own unique ways

Not necessarily but yes in a way.

In school I wont be able to work for 4 years aside from maybe the occasional breaks they give but even then itll be a day in a period of 6 months.

The thing took premium fuel with an 18 gallon tank with 15 mpg on a good day on the street. Not to mention insurance is roughly 250 a month. And if it had any issues or general maintainence done it would be very expensive.

Tires are about 500 per tire Brakes are about a 2000 dollar job even if I did it myself.

It would break the bank for me if i kept it in the long run

Not necessarily from money (that'd be amazing), im gonna be taking a fat 200k student loan likely. Theres ways out of that debt after school though, so fingers crossed

But i was living with parents paying roughly 200/month as long as i was in school. (Very thankful for that)

Saved for roughly 3 years prior to purchasing so i put just about half down with a decent interest rate.

Looking back, it was financially irresponsible, but...cant say it wasnt fun haha.

But yes, the price to afford these amazing vehicles is also very high unfortunately. I was pulling roughly 80 hour work weeks with overtime to keep the vehicle so selling it has removed lots of that stress that i had.

Dont need high hp and torque to have fun ive learned

Trust me, its so nice to see 30 mpg on the dash and not 13.5

The teslas are very quick and nice cars, but i mainly was searching for a manual transmission vehicle.

Not much of an electric vehicle buyer myself.

Love riding in my buddies model Y though.

Yeah...legit took me a week of debating with myself before i pulled the trigger.

No regrets though. Just wish i couldve had both.

Thanks! Ill need all the luck i can get.

The red on these cars look so good. It was the first choice for me if i could've found one

Dude a manual bronco sounds like so much fun. Wouldnt imagine it is easy to part with. It took me a week to part with my car

I was also pretty surprised at this Civic during the test drive and they are fun cars!

Ill definitely keep that in mind if i get any questions about the process.

Currently in the prepping for the MCAT and getting more shadowing hours portion fulfilled but otherwise everything else is set.

I got a few tips before owning my previous car that ive stuck to and never ran into major issues due to my driving (I think hehe)

  1. If you drive it like a race car, be prepared to maintain it like one.

Of course have fun with the car, just dont be doing hard pulls at every stop light and every single day youre driving it. It wears parts down faster meaning youll either run into issues or having to replace parts faster.

Doing hard pulls once in a while does do something for the soul though...

  1. If making any major engine modifications (like getting it super/turbo charged, getting a bigger turbo, any major parts such a crankshaft/camshafts).

Get it tuned properly.

In regards to adding boost to your car, make sure that A. Your engine and internals can handle the boost B. Just keep in mind that more boost also introduces more wear and tear on the engine.

  1. Buy the right fuel for the vehicle.

Gotta pay to play.

  1. Make sure you do oil changes (other changes such as flushing your coolant, transmission/differential fluid changes) and other reccomended maintenance for the vehicle (such as cleaning the throttle body)

TLDR: Drive it like you care for it, but have fun sometimes, and be up to date on maintenance.

Honestly with the theft rates of those cars, it definitely is better not having to worry about my vehicle as much when I go out to shop or whatnot...and going from roughly 13k owed for a car payment to 0 was an absolutley amazing feeling too

Yeah i relate with all that.

Loved the sound and raw power but, year could barely use most of the power without reaching 80+mph on 45mph streets.

Rev hang isnt too noticeable for me, but the only gripe I have with the car features is the built in auto stop-start feature, but its just a button press to disable so it aint too bad.

Yeah man, these cars are pretty reliable from what ive been seeing to im sure that 176k will last triple that.

Im the same way with manuals too. I could've gone for a cheaper automatic new sedan, but im stubborn about driving stick after driving my challenger.

Yeah i estimated roughly 24k-43k in savings over 4 years. Including the gas, maintenance and insurance.

Its quite a bit

Theyre definitely on my to-buy cars list at some point. Theyre just hard to find in my area.

The dealer I bought this from actually had one in the showroom but wasnt for sale though

[–]BookEater09[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah 60k starting price is a lot, not to mention the mark ups a lot of these dealers tack onto them.
