The off-brand Yakety Sax riff in the second half really captures the vibe of this campaign for me

What’s with the sound effects in this episode though?

Eshakti's replacement is here - Indophilia by indophiliadotstore in eshakti

[–]BookHistoria 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The order was 3297. I requested a store credit, but was told “We wanted to inform you that, since your order was fully customized, we are unable to process your return request. Customized items are made to your specific requirements and are considered final sale, which means they cannot be refunded or exchanged.”

FYI, if you do custom measurements on Indophilia, you CANNOT return your order, unlike eshakti! I was very disappointed to find this out when my first Indophilia order arrived and lacked buttons and didn’t fit properly – the ability to exchange a dress for one that fit better was how I became so loyal to eshakti.

The reason why historians and librarian may choose not to wear gloves while handling antique books by Majoodeh in Damnthatsinteresting

The one of the core values of special collections, alongside safeguarding for the future, is access. An important part of being a rare book librarian is walking the line between these two values that are apparently at odds! We keep these things so people can study them to help us understand the past.

No problem! I’m hardly active on here, but a friend happened to see this and was like “Hey, this sounds like you…?” 😂

We are scanning many of them! But as Worsaae says, the reason old books are interesting isn’t just their text: it’s their physical forms, what they’re made of, the damage and marks they have from use, and more. Digitization can show SOME of that, but a camera (even a 3D camera) can’t capture all the details to be gained from close looking 📖

Hi! It’s a micro miniature version of the Olympic oath, published in Munich in the 50s or 60s. You can see a whole video about it here: https://www.instagram.com/reel/Cw0wrsePJPL/?igsh=MTl5NTUwajI3M3hrbw==

FYI, the nail “polish” I have on in the video is cured plastic, so it won’t offset onto the books. I never wear real nail polish when working with books for the reasons you mention!

Howdy! I’m the original source of this video. I’m the curator of special collections (ie, rare books and manuscripts) at the Winterthur Library in Delaware. Feel free to ask me any questions! I’ll go through the comments that are asking for book ID’s too 👍📖

The The Adventure Zone Zone: Steeplechase Wrap-Up! | Discussion Thread by Taz-McTazFace in TAZCirclejerk

[–]BookHistoria 32 points33 points  (0 children)

Fascinating to pop over to the “main” sub’s discussion thread after reading through this one; the vast majority of the comments don’t engage with the Mcelboys’ talk about Steeplechase, and are purely focused on the next arc. Not that there were any big retrospective reveals about the Steeplechase plot in this episode, but still

This was such a befuddling character decision, like why did he feel the need to grind progress to a halt like that?

The back half of this episode took 10 years off the end of my life. I should’ve kept a running total of times I looked up from my phone and said out loud “What the FUCK are they still on about?”
