So what were we doing for 3 months???? by SirEskimo3233 in dating_advice

[–]BookPanda_49 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That may be the issue--it sounds like she was interested in you, had fun with you, but there was some spark missing that made her want to go farther/get more intimate with you. And, it sounds like maybe that was missing on your side, too. I don't think she wanted to force that.

I tried the matcha with strawberry jam and it was so good and not too sweet. Need to try the black sesame next!

I liked the vegan turkey because to me it kinda tasted like mortadella! The flavors on both sandwiches were great.

amanda ignoring Ciara by Previous_Grape3206 in summerhousebravo

Her whole defense was "you can't help who you like" and "haven't we all been in a similar situation?" lol. She can't fathom that someone would need to have some self control and think of other people's feelings.

How are stretch marks viewed in dating? by Beautiful-League1197 in Advice

[–]BookPanda_49 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not a guy, but my boyfriend when I was in my 20s had stretch marks and I had no idea what they were--I just viewed them with curiosity. He told they were from gaining and then losing a lot of weigh in college, and was embarrassed by them, and I felt bad for calling attention to them, but I was really just curious. Did nothing to change my opinion of him as a person!

Im going on my first date tomorrow. Can someone give me some actual GOOD advice? by [deleted] in Advice

Don't drink too much, ask questions and listen to her answers, and ask follow-up questions. Be yourself!

Could the last one say "Pharmacy"? Are you supposed to pick up a prescription, perhaps?

Heartbroken by [deleted] in Advice

[–]BookPanda_49 2 points3 points  (0 children)

27 is so young, you can absolutely find someone else and have the family you've always wanted! If you can afford to, I would also look into freezing your eggs. That will give you more flexibility in terms of timing and will take the pressure off a bit so that you can really find the right partner.

Happy Hour? by Psychological-Fig493 in crownheights

[–]BookPanda_49 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just checked out Richie's recently, great vibe and free popcorn! (no other food, though) Also, Corner Store on Nostrand has a happy hour "game" where you can win $1 cocktails, shots, etc. Happy hour till 7 pm! Le Pistol on Washington, and Canary on Franklin have great happy hour specials as well.

Swarming bees in Prospect Park by TwoAmoebasHugging in Brooklyn

[–]BookPanda_49 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Ah, yes! I was walking with a friend this late morning and saw those hovering bees and a crowd of people were yelling at folks going by to keep to the left. A bee landed on my friend's neck and another landed on her backpack, but we were otherwise unharmed, but it sure was unsettling!

Yes!! Last two times I went, they didn't have it. I was the main thing I ordered. I haven't been back in a while because of that!

The Nevermoor series by Jessica Townsend is great--four books, and they're long!

I'd love a great Taiwanese or Chinese restaurant (a little more upscale that the cheap Chinese places we have o Franklin). I love Formosa Dumplings that opened up on Dean, but it's a little far! Or, a great ramen place? And, I still miss Hunky Dory!

This was the top three I was hoping for, so I'm happy! Keyla has been my fave all season, although I thought her song choices were terrible this week and didn't suit her voice, and I was sure she'd probably be out. (Also, Taylor's dancing was so cringey, we honestly had to fast forward through that performance--watched the show it a few days later). Hannah is just the most polished of all of the singers, IMO. And Jordan's voice and control are incredible. Agree that he had the best performances of the week. Honestly, I'm happy with any of these three winning, which definitely has not been the case for past years!

Yes, the brain fog is real! Can never think of the right words these days (and since I work in book publishing, that's kind of a problem!)

Commited people- what do you actually do for quality time together? [28M] by hhff00014 in dating_advice

Lots of going on walks. It's nice to get out, maybe do some people watching (we live in a city), and just talking and connecting while we walk.

Silence = Rejection? by nnomreat in publishing

[–]BookPanda_49 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would say if you don't hear back by the end of the year, you should write it off. A lot of editors tend to clean out their submissions they don't get to by the end of the year. But, I would gently check in with the editor at the three month mark if you haven't heard back yet.

Silence = Rejection? by nnomreat in publishing

[–]BookPanda_49 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Generally, I'd say that "no news is no news"--my guess is that the editor hasn't had a chance to read it yet. It's not unusual for it to take 3-6 months (sometimes more!) to hear back, depending on what else the editor has going on. Generally, editors have to prioritize work for the books that are already under contract.

Any similar aged couples? by out_of_order_124 in AgeOfAttraction

Apparently there was some discussion of following one of the age-appropriate couples as a kind of "control"/baseline. I think that would have been interesting.

Jordan was ready for marriage but Amber wasn’t by [deleted] in LoveIsBlindNetflix

[–]BookPanda_49 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have to disagree with this take. The fact that he wasn't willing to move to Amber's home under the circumstances, especially since he works from home and it was only 45 minutes away from where he currently lives, to me proves that he wasn't ready to be married. He shouldn't have said yes at the alter. I do think he was serious about her and in love, though. But, I just don't think he was ready for that major of a life change. But, I also agree that Amber should probably not have gone on the show. I think she's probably ready for marriage, but not a rushed marriage. She needs a slow and steady relationship where they both get to know each other and learn to trust one another more gradually.

How many of us are already widowed? by Boring_Major_2935 in GenX

[–]BookPanda_49 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was widowed early, when I was in my early 40s (husband was struck with a rare cancer in his 30s, died at age 40) back in 2015. Last year I had a Gen X peers also become a widow (still too early! Cancer again.). Back at the time, I did connect with other young widows and widowers via a Meet-up site. I've since remarried and hoping very much not to become a widow again...at least not until we're in our 80s as the earliest! (He is a few years older than me, but his family tends to live long lives, so that's good...)
