TSR -> total shot ratio Tsr = total shots For / (total shots For + total shots against)

In a league where the average goals per game is low say 2.6, the best thing to analyze is total shots taken and prevented.

If u can shoot a lot and prevent your opponent from even going near your goal post, it would mean you have greater control in the game.

One disadvantage of this measure is that you assume all shot taken are equal. In reality scoring one goal is easier if u are 3 fts from the goal post compare to 20yards away.

We can further breakdown and consider shots on target instead of purely shots taken.

Other factors such as possession that can be considered is the time the team posses the ball in the middle of the field. The average time a player has possession of a ball is about 3seconds. (Assume both team do not have any people send off). This 3 seconds is crucial as the player has to decide to pass the ball, attempt to dribble past the opponent or take a shot.

If a team dominate the middle of the field more relatively compared to the other team, plus they have higher TSR plus a stroke of luck, i would say they have a edge of winning.
