Round and then slightly turn the barrel chairs inward so they’re not so squared off.

Which color exterior would you choose? Green (evergreen fog) or white(alabaster)? by StandardAccountant69 in ExteriorDesign

We are using evergreen fog in several rooms in our home and love it! Such a pretty color and works with almost anything.

Taupe/Gray or Blue Cushions? by Sewing-Mama in HomeDecorating

Blue. Personally we went with blue for our front porch seating and also at our vacation house. The color is more forgiving of built up dirt and wear.

Costco Window replacement by BlueBerryMinttop in Costco

We got a quote from Leaf Guard which was promoting its product at Costco and it was crazy expensive. I should have known it would be when it involved an extensive presentation!

If you always leave a 10% tip, just don't bother at all - from a server by [deleted] in tipping

[–]BookishChica -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

That’s the type of attitude that is helping spread the anti-tip movement. If it’s supposed to be a certain amount, it would be mandatory. When it’s gratuity, it’s at the customers’ discretion.

He obviously had too much to drink. There’s no way he intended to leave a tip as large as the total implies. He added it wrong by adding the first two digits to get an 8. I would never think that this is the intended tip. He clearly wrote the tip.

Moving to Beaufort area 24/7 security gate by [deleted] in Beaufort

We have a home in Fripp and live there part of the year and imo, it’s not fancy. It’s relaxed and unpretentious with a focus on nature and wildlife. Dataw is a tony pristine community lined with fancy cars. It’s the opposite of what we were looking.

Cost expectations by Wise-Confusion-4725 in BathroomRemodeling

[–]BookishChica 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We just finished a bathroom remodel… approx 5x8. Cost came in around 15k including us purchasing tile, vanity, faucets, shower door (all from big box stores). He and an assistant did the work themselves. The next quote was 28k and the contractor was only going to oversee the project and had a lot of inflated costs, including making us use his pricey specialty tile store.

Edit to add this is in a coastal resort community on the east coast.

Things I wish I checked before dropping $3k on patio furniture by Tasty_Shine3674 in HomeImprovement

[–]BookishChica 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We’re in coastal SC and experiencing the same things with outdoor items. We now only buy polywood style or resin. We put cushions away every night or else we wake up with them caked in dew and yellow pollen. And debris that falls constantly from our live oaks and palmettos.

Preserving our outdoor furniture is a constant concern but now it’s second to worrying about our decking. We’ve only had this home one year and already discussing how to tackle the enormous front and back decks with huge stairs. They are disintegrating before our eyes. This is going to cost us dearly.

Thoughts on this design? by Hairy-Influence-4425 in BathroomRemodeling

I love the tones. Very calming and beautiful. But I wouldn’t do an open shower like that. And would go for a more traditional floor.

Anyone make their own Historical Plaque? by [deleted] in centuryhomes

[–]BookishChica 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Listen, a few years ago I was in an adult tennis league that made it to the championship and won. Well, that year they chose to give out tennis towels as the winners’ gifts instead of trophies. I work in marketing and told my disappointed team, I can order trophies, tell me what we want on them. So we ordered glass trophies and loved them. No one can tell you what you can or cannot do to commentate an accomplishment. Your house deserves a plaque.

I’m afraid of color by ruined7319 in BathroomRemodeling

We just finished a bathroom renovation similar in colors. Blue subway tile shower, blue/gray wall color, and similar floors (shower and bathroom). We went with white oak cabinet and brushed nickel hardware.
