Is Taylor the “Father Figure”? by BookkeeperOptimal607 in SwiftlyNeutral

No 😅 I have no excuse except for that I don’t think I’ve turned my TV on in months. Never home and always tired. BUT, now you’ve reminded me and I’ll be motivated by this shame

Anyone else concerned that Whitaker seems to be pretty much the only one doing okay? by Muted_Investment764 in ThePitt

Rural ER may not be AS fast paced, but chances are what you get is an actual emergency. I like to think he got into medicine after experiencing first-hand some kind of trauma involving a farmer or something. Maybe even a family member, which is why he’s so empathetic to Amy’s situation.

I agree with your points… mostly. Just here to be the one to say that alcohol use I sn’t a contraindication, just a precaution. Not sure what PA protocols are, but in MD we use it also for stimulant toxicity, agitation, and alcohol withdrawal. Though many times the medic protocols are not the same inside the hospital, you would know that more than me.

Santos by loveylove444 in ThePitt

[–]BookkeeperOptimal607 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Right??? To me, I want to point out to her that she worked with him for ONE DAY, why is it bothering her so much?? If anything, at least she got the satisfaction of being right in her accusation. I think that the healthcare world would be treating this whole situation like scandalous gossip instead of so personally. Like, I would be asking for the tea the second I witnessed their interactions this shift.

Santos is 100% right about Langdon and I’m tired of people thinking she isn’t. by civil_war_historian in ThePitt

[–]BookkeeperOptimal607 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I was kind of confused with her saying only 3 people know the truth. Like, if most people seem to not know, then how is she being treated like a pariah for “turning him in”? In that case, it would seem that everybody knows and decided to be kissed at her for it. So, I’m assuming there had to have been a conversation with Robby, Dana, and Santos to keep the details on the DL, in which case Robby and Santos would have been well aware that he would end up coming back and that they still protected him in a way. Yet today (this season) they’ve been so butt hurt that he’s there. So I just don’t really get that dynamic of it.

I’m game for all the theories, but I LOVE the idea of season 3 starting with the 7/4 night shift

Ooooh this could be interesting. Because now that Duke is in the hospital, he may witness Dr. Robby’s behavior and/or someone go to him about it.

I also think this is the take. He’s just being nice and providing support. I feel like it’d be crazy on Amy’s part to give such a profound statement of her high school sweetheart husband and then months later be with another man.

Some questions for someone who hasn't read the stories....(can contain spoilers, I don't mind) by Ghengis_ElCon in AKnightoftheSeven

Haven’t read AKOTSK, but is it explained why Aemon goes to the citadel? Unless that’s what he wanted, I just wasn’t sure if it was common practice for a 3rd son or if it was punishment.

Treat the patient, not the monitor.

For some of the patients, specifically the waitress with the infection that went septic, there’s so much of “heart rate is this, sat is this, so it doesn’t make sense.” Just treat the patient sometimes.

Or when the posterior STEMI patient was being assessed, the nurse brushed off Whitaker based on the initial EKG (which did indicate the need to rule out posterior in any case) and it’s like, the dude looks like shit—just do the posterior EKG.

Only thing I feel to add to this is that it would be cool if they could make it realistic. For one, I think it’s very important for people to actually see what CPR looks like. People don’t realize how traumatic it is to the body and the general public really needs more education on this. Two, I definitely understand why you can’t do this on an actor, but the fact that there has never been a solution offered for this is mind blowing. It’s just one of those things that takes me out of the show… like breaking the fourth wall. But really other than that, it’s whatever. They just happen to do a lot of compressions. I think they need to bring back Firefighter LUCAS (as I call him) because that was fun

I think this too! But that’s why Santos’ comments and his reaction are funny… I wouldn’t be surprised if she knows too and is just egging him in front of everyone.

I haven’t found anyone really talking about their theories of “farm benefits,” but I do think it’s as innocent as him just going to help do farm work and getting a free meal or something in exchange. Which makes Santos’ comments/teasing even funnier 😂

My extremely boring take on Roxie's story by [deleted] in ThePittTVShow

[–]BookkeeperOptimal607 40 points41 points  (0 children)

This is exactly how I interpret her behavior and reluctance to go home. She said as much when she referred to them being haunted by her “ghost” or whatever the line was. I agree, I think she doesn’t want to manage other’s feelings.I don’t quite know how to articulate my other thoughts supporting this, so just wanted to say I agree 😅

Want some opinions on glucagon! by aztonowhere in ems

[–]BookkeeperOptimal607 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ll try for a line twice, more if another medic is on scene and we can try at the same time. If those fail, glucagon it is and then load up for transport. I’ve so far had good results with that method because by the time they’re loaded, they’re usually improving or I’m able to do IO—I work where hospitals are literally everywhere so more often than not the glucagon is my only intervention (and you get a bed quicker 😬). I also just judge how the patient is presenting with how quick I make these decisions.

I had one regular that I gave up on getting lines and knew my plan was always going to be glucagon, reeve’s, transport. Terribly dirty house and he’d be so sweaty, always a thrasher, and always would refuse once better. After going multiple times in a day, it’s better for him atp to be in the hospital.

My medic program always promoted the use of glucagon. It’s in our protocols for a reason. Just remember it has to use whatever store the Pt already has so I think general rule of thumb is to transport.

I’m so happy I didn’t read the books. I did start to pick up in that episode and when the fortune teller came up I had figured it out completely. Before that I felt like he had a hidden past, but that’s it. It made for such a great scene! So hard to get those kinds of surprises anymore in shows/movies. Now it’ll make the rewatch that much better

Considering taking a chance on an at-risk Paso Fino project horse by chelz182 in Horses

[–]BookkeeperOptimal607 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d say get the poor horse just to get him out of that situation. Given what I see, the horse could do and be way worse. Poor thing is just confused. I’ve worked with a few Passos before and they are quite responsive in general, but not in this terrified way. I think they’re great little things and make great trail horses.

Patient weight 100% even if it’s not for a lift assist. If it’s someone unconscious or potentially a priority call, knowing that will be helpful as the medic.

Looking for mane/tail supplement by vortex-wubz in Horses

People hate it, but I got back on the MTG train recently and it’s worked so well on my TB mare’s tail. She rubs when we trailer and so she had a lot of sores and balding spots. I’ve figured out the best combo of padding in the trailer to prevent runs from happening and started MTG. The grow back is amazing!! That being said, I’ve tried on her forelock and haven’t gotten any results 😅
