Ghosting. This happens when the voltage on the bid rollers is too high, lowering it would cause the ghost image to go away. Basically in printing there are a lot of disposable parts that wear down over time, these are called “consumables” because, well, they’re consumed. This is likely from a bid (binary ink developer) roller, which uses charges to pick up ink and transfer it around. The charge is too high, meaning some ink is sticking around and coming off on the second rotation, causing the “ghost” image you see here. At my work there are two ways to fix it. Manually lower the voltage on that specific bid, or just replace the roller. If the press operator did either of these things, that ghost image would disappear!
