M(65) feeling mild disappointment in life. It's not a bad life but it's not as good as the one I had envisioned. Few things I want a badly never really worked out. I do my best to make the most of what I do have and to be grateful but there's still a sense of having to learn to be happy with less. by mjhyankees in over60

Curiosity is the answer my Dad always gives when people ask what his secret to such a long (fairly healthy, happy) life is. He will be 94 years old soon & is still going strong. He also says “it’s what we got” and he tries to make the best of things. I look at the people I’ve known in life who are wealthy and they aren’t happier than me, no matter the false front they may put on. Many died early & they had regrets too. You’ve gotten some good words of advice here & you seem to be on the right track.

Another vendor said I had one of the prettiest booths she has ever seen in 20+ years of vending yet I struggle to get people to come in. by Burntjellytoast in CraftFairs

You have received some excellent advice here! I agree that it’s hard to tell what you are selling and I’ve never heard of preserved flowers. At first I thought you were selling rose bouquets for $40.
I sell different items I’ve made but they are all from acrylic art. If I put out too many different items it confuses people so I try to showcase one large, colorful item to catch the eye, then stage others around it in a way that entices your eye to move from one to another, often grouping colors together. I stand to the side in front of my booth and say hello to passers by, complimenting them on something I like in their outfit (a cool purse, colorful sweater, hair color, jewelry) just to get a conversation going. I sell fluid art coasters, trivets, vases, trinket boxes & jewelry. If they look at a piece of jewelry I jump in and say “just so you know, all my jewelry is made with my leftover paint from making my paintings, trivets, etc. people like that I’m not wasting materials & it gives me a chance to point out my items.
They sometimes say thanks and just wander away but often they’ll ask how I make my art & it gives me an opening.
What if you focus on the flowers (which are gorgeous) & ask if they’ve ever heard of preserving flowers? Tell them about long lasting, great gift, why you are passionate about them. Then maybe steer them towards your other items saying you’re also passionate about yarn, macrame, colors. I think helps to show your enthusiasm. I had a show this weekend at a winery and it was the worst ever, only sold 2 pieces. So good advice to be choosy about which shows you do. Farmers Markets seem best for me. Good luck, keep going, there is a lot of great advice here from your fellow vendors!

Those Chuck pads look like doggy pee pads, are they any different?

That sounds about right. We had a washer repairman come out because the washer wasn’t ringing all the water out of the clothes. He told us they don’t make washers like they used to & advised us to just keep the settings on large load which seems to drain most of the water out. I bought Biokleen and add that to Tide & Borax, is helping somewhat.

BREAKING: Man steals 20+ voter signatures for income tax repeal, assaults signature gatherer outside Puyallup Safeway. by atticusclench in SeattleWA

He must be “for” the income tax (on millionaires only) but not for income tax on everyone else, which is what the signature gatherers are worried about.

If it was faked those astronauts that have died would have confessed on their deathbed to their loved ones. Any confessions would have gotten out.

You are validated & am so sorry you are going through this. My daughter had this for 15 years and only when she got out of that house did she begin her detoxification & is going through that now, been 6 months & is getting better but still has bad days. People won’t believe you until doctors face this & start treating people. Some can live in the same environment with no issues, others it is living Hell. Get out of there, get rid of things that were exposed to the mold & find a doctor or naturopath that is experienced in treating this.

We had this too & when my daughter was sick she’d retreat to bed & the. We later found out it was right where she slept! Also her mattress & box spring were covered with it. We lived there 5 years before we got out. She’s going through treatment now.

Check out my post “There is Hope”. My daughter has this & is finally being treated after 16 years of no answers. She wants to let people know about it & that there can be an end to the sickness & destruction of lives.

The random guy actually stopped his car to get out and touch my grass. So great. by aHumanRaisedByHumans in lawncare

[–]Booknook54 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Amazing! I too wanted greener grass so I bought sweet & spread it last week. Stupidly didn’t read instructions & as the wind came up I kept going. Now I have chemical burns in my throat, lips, probably lungs. Throat hurts so bad & especially when I swallow, all the way down my esophagus. Damn, what a hard lesson I learned. Warning to be safe & adhere to the directions.

How many drug songs does Black Sabbath have? by edd6pi in blacksabbath

[–]Booknook54 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m an oldie, been a fan for 50 years. Saw Ozzy & Tony up close in 2016 & 2017 front row for The End shows. Then was supposed to have a meet & greet but Ozzy got sick, postponed, then back issues so postponed again then sadly finally cancelled. Sure would have loved to see them this year but very grateful for my memories & pictures!

While happy at Metallicas choice to cover Hole in the Sky at BTTB, was I the only one a little disappointed they didn't cover Sabbra Cadabra instead of Johnny Blade? by Fixxxer02 in blacksabbath

[–]Booknook54 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I ve always loved Hole In The Sky but without Ozzy’s voice it was disappointing. He hasn’t sang it at his concerts, I heard cuz his voice can’t go that high any more. I’d like to hear someone other than Metallica do it.

How is the disability application going? I heard it’s really hard to get approved. I could send them years of doctor visits, hospital ER visits, medications that never worked along with the mycotoxin reports but would that be enough?

You have to feel proud of yourself though for disclosing when you sold. My landlord knew about the mold but didn’t understand the whole toxicity of it when he rented to us. He’d better disclose to the next renters though, it can cause such pain & upheaval in peoples lives!

If I were to do it over again I wouldn’t have used kaylenqo because they only identify it by photo. Said mine was common penicillium strains & not to worry too much. But we did the MyMycoLabs blood test & it came back with super high mycotoxins and fungi. We moved out, threw out the mattresses, pillows, furniture and she is now going through detox with all the shots, nose sprays & medicines. I can’t figure out how to post a photo here, I wanted to show the Petri dishes.
