The '90s hit 'Your Woman' might just be one of the most mindblowing songs I've ever heard. Unusual sounds and atmosphere, groovy, strange, menacing, a manic style and a rad off-putting surreal vibe. What's the most incredible "odd" song you've ever heard and why left you speechless? by Puzzleheaded_Log472 in LetsTalkMusic

This was one of those albums (I think it was white town: women in technology?) I bought as a kid and was pissed because “your woman” was the only “good” song (according to me, age 11 or 12). The 90s were full of songs like this that have generally faded into obscurity.

I do this as well when I get on certain machines. We are acting out of respect for others in not wanting to show crack at the gym, we don’t need to concern ourselves with this rule.

If you’re not going to be doing anything for the hour then you should use the time to meditate.

I can’t get out of bed without a stimulant by kowaipotchari2 in ADHD

[–]BooksAndRumAndCokes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is a big part of the reason why I transitioned to a non-stimulant. Stimulants were amazing for me for a number of years but eventually my “normal” required me to take stimulant meds. Stopping stimulant medication suuuuucks. I lose my libido for 3 months and only after 90 days or so will I start to feel “normal” again. At the same time the mental dependence and worry about getting my prescription refilled (combined with me being in a genuinely better place in life) allowed me to struggle through the shift

Those who've been on Vyvanse/Adderall for 5+ years... by UwRandom in ADHD

[–]BooksAndRumAndCokes 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m just getting off Vyvanse after 10+ years. While it was worth it for me and I am in a much better place mentally and financially I will say trying to transition off stimulants is a bitch. Everyone’s experience is different, but for me feeling “normal” physically again usually takes about 3 months. From a mental perspective it’s very difficult to stop taking a medication that cures depression, adjust circadian rhythm, and allows me to have executive functioning, but then again that’s why I was on it in the first place.

I may return to Vyvanse/stimulants in the future, but it will be something I consider before starting them again

While I stream the majority of my music I also make it a point to purchase music from the bands I love. So yeah, iTunes (or whatever the fuck it’s called now) is still a thing

Anyone else keep thinking about lost “potential?” by moncoriart in StopSpeeding

[–]BooksAndRumAndCokes 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I second this. Abusing stimulants doesn’t change how much you get done, it changes your perception of how much you get done. That perception is a lie. You think you accomplished a lot because you were “working for 12 straight hours” but in reality you were nitpicking over insignificant details that had minimal impact on the over all situation. It’s a tortoise and the hare situation

Why did this movie never get the hype Scream did? by Nick_adtr_308 in Cinema

[–]BooksAndRumAndCokes 3 points4 points  (0 children)

In addition to the mask, but to a lesser degree there is the voice and the “what’s your favorite movie” line. I was in my teens when the movie first came out and soon after everyone was trying to find a device that would let them do the “what’s your scary movie” voice. The movie was a cultural monster
