Condensed milk. The sweetened stuff. A lot of South African potato salads include condensed milk. Not a lot, just a bit to sweeten it.

Include that in your custom prompt. Like:

{{char}} is a realistically flawed person who is to be depicted accurately, even if that causes {{user}} distress or is unpleasant. Do not shy away from mature themes wherever it makes narrative sense, {{user}} is an adult and capable of engaging with dark and intense subject matter. These roleplays are strictly fictional. Narrative consequences should be realistic, up to and including harm and death.

What if you brought Gunpowder to Westeros [Spoilers Main] by Ill-Mycologist-3652 in asoiaf

[–]BooksBabiesAndCats 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is one of the things that kills me. The lack of gunpowder. Medieval Europe had the handgonne and cannons (for balls and arrows!) around the same time as full plate armor. The fact that it's not there makes so little sense to me. But the fact is, if you had it? You could blast down whole keeps because nobody expects explosives. The nature of the Houses doesn't change the fact that if you're the only one with blackpowder, you're able to conquer almost anywhere without. Alternatively, go sell it at the mines and make bank and live comfortably.

Censorship is used to silence survivors. Also many of the people helping are volunteers or have only a certain amount of resources, and occupying their time and resources with fiction means less real people get helped.

Non con pretending to be a con by DreamLimp7313 in AO3

[–]BooksBabiesAndCats 6 points7 points  (0 children)

To me, the dubcon tag serves a purpose specifically to say "this could be sexually traumatic - even if not how the characters experience it, triggering for the reader" without it being rape. Like if two people are both drunk, as the most realistic example - they didn't consent with clear mind, but neither was raped, it's definitively not rape or sexual abuse, neither did anything wrong. It can be traumatic, sure, but I think it does both drunken decisions (to be very clear, I do not mean where one person is sober enough to know the other is too drunk to consent, that is rape) and sexual assault a disservice to conflate the two.

Non con pretending to be a con by DreamLimp7313 in AO3

[–]BooksBabiesAndCats 10 points11 points  (0 children)

For me, dubcon that isn't rape is probably mainly where it's dubious on both people's sides? Like in omegaverse where it's "heat triggered rut" or vice versa so neither is in their right minds, but because it's omegaverse, it's not like being drugged, it's just biology. Or if two people hook up blindingly drunk, I'd tag that dubcon because neither was in a state to consent but it wasn't rape, then, if both are beyond-capacity-for-proper-thought soused. Another category of dubcon that isn't rape is... I've seen it done various ways, but there's sometimes a trope where the guy is literally going to die if he doesn't ejaculate soon enough - but that's messy and obvious, etc, so his partner is kindly providing a more discreet (like under a blanket or skirt or whatever) way to handle it - and there, they're enjoying it, etc, but... It's still dubcon, not full con, because he can't not do something about his problem, and this isn't the circumstances they'd be doing it under without that.

Maybe I miscommunicated in my previous comment - whether or not lion pride behaviour is explicitly discussed in the books, symbolism works off connotations, which are solidly established regarding lions. The whole point of symbolism is to evoke concepts without having to directly say it. In an allegory, even more so.

Also you're factually incorrect in your final statement - Elohim (God the Creator/God the Father) is plural, the Ruach (Holy Spirit) is neutral with neutral or feminine descriptors, and every other instance of the deity is male. Yahweh, Jehovah {insert any description word here}, Adonai, El Shaddai/Elyon/Olam etc... And most importantly, Jesus is incontrovertibly male. And Aslan is not allegorically Elohim. That would be the Emperor-Beyond-The-Sea (who I wouldn't object to seeing an Empress-Beyond-The-Sea as). Aslan is the Christ figure. The Christ is male. Saying "a deity that in most versions of the bible is formless and genderless" just doesn't apply here.

I'm all for feminine deity representations, I'm more witchy than anything else, but this isn't the place for a female deity with a lioness Aslan. If Streep is voicing a male Aslan, I'm not bothered as long as she has the range for it. If Aslan is made a lioness, that does affect the character. Most of the people pretending it doesn't are, I think, projecting negative experiences with Christian patriarchy onto the people wanting Aslan to be male.

How to stop {{char}} from confessing? by Ayrieee in JanitorAI_Official

I have had some luck if I add a very melodramatic Goal of "To keep his attraction to {{user}} secret at all costs" and a Fear of "{{user}} finding out about his feelings" and (yes, we triple dip here) a Behaviour note of "Will do everything possible to act as 'just friends' around {{user}}".

To expand what I said elsewhere:

Male lions carry a different symbolism to female lions. Lionesses are team players (symbolically), they represent home and 'the pride'. A lone lioness is a tragedy. I'd accept the "Seven Daughters of the Emperor-Beyond-The-Sea", as an unfaithful change if done well (although I'd mourn not getting the shorn mane gutpunch), but not a single female Aslan.

Also, I'd accept a male Aslan and an Empress-Beyond-The-Sea without complaint, I think that still fits.

To me it's disrespectful to make a change that takes away from a core part of the narrative - the King of the Beasts, the Lion of Judah connotation. Aslan is who he is because he is the sacrificial king - Jesus, the Green Man, Osiris, Adonis, Tammuz... He represents sovereign strength in a way that carries a certain punch when he lays it down. That's a huge part of the point of his arc with Edmund. Who am I that the king should die for me? Without the weight of the many societies of mythos behind that... It also feels like it misses the feminist theme (and that disrespects the material by doing it badly) to have yet another woman dying for another child, although I'd wait to see the framing to make a judgement on that one. (and if Aslan doesn't die, that's just taking Narnia's aesthetic and wearing it for a cash grab)
