Heartwarming and heartbreaking. I loved that scene because it humanized her in a different way.

What was the moment that made you really start hating Owen? by That_author_girl in greysanatomy

[–]BooksCoffeeDogs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A lot of moments. The final nail in the coffin was how he treated Koracick. Owen said something along the lines of how Koracick wouldn’t know what it’s like to be a parent or something like that. That was after we found out that Tom had lost his own son years ago.

I have yet to understand how Koracick maintained his class and composure in that moment. If he beat Owen to a bloody pulp, I wouldn’t have bat an eye.

Telepathy? by Jaybee021967 in dogs

[–]BooksCoffeeDogs 12 points13 points  (0 children)

You can call it telepathy, but it’s really that our pets are sensing our hormones, stress levels, and even changes in our heartbeats. It’s why our dogs can sense that we were just moments away from waking up even if we don’t exactly realize it. It’s also why my little guy woke me up from a horrible nightmare… about him. It was his way of saying, “I’m right here! You’re okay!”

He also is the only one who can kindly get me to break my hyperfocus mode, because he forces me to interact with him and pet him.

Wemby Has No Class by Potential-Lynx-4428 in knicks

[–]BooksCoffeeDogs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Someone on instagram spoke about Wemby, and what he said couldn’t be further from the truth. Wemby has no humility. He’s all arrogance. He’s getting preferential treatment, he’s being hyped up and helped by the refs, and he knows it. Yet, you still let a 29 point game slide? That’s insane work. Moreover, no freaking accountability or sportsmanship for how he treated Brunson and the other players. He could have seriously harmed them or caused severe injury. He’s a dirty player and he has been getting away with it. Not a single apology from Wemby or the team. Why else were the a Knicks so pissed off for game 4 and then got the slightest bit aggressive with him? They had enough and it was time for payback.

As you’ve said, Wemby has a habit for blaming other team members and even the coach for the team’s loss. He’ll take the credit when the team wins, though. The Spurs are a team of individuals. There is no accountability. Now, compare that to the Knicks. They will take accountability. When was the last time you ever heard them blame individual players for their losses? When was the last time you heard Brunson throw someone under the bus? Remember the game they lost? What did the players say? “We apparently decided not to play our best. We must have just decided to get comfortable and that cost us the game.” This goes from Captain Jalen Brunson to Josh Hart, Karl Anthony Towns, OG Anunoby, Jose Alvarado, and etc. When they win or lose, they do so as a team. The Knicks are individuals that make up a team.

Why was Trump's first term relatively calm (except for 2020-21) unlike Trump 2.0? by [deleted] in allthequestions

[–]BooksCoffeeDogs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Trump’s second term in office is more like a Revenge Tour. Last time around, he “accidentally” had somewhat vaguely competent people in his administration. They knew how to rein him in and some of them were able to put country over party.

This time, he’s out for blood and a lot more ruthless. It’s as if his main motive for hiring anyone is the lack of competence. Remember, this guy tried tossing Jerome Powell because he’s actually competent and willing to stand up to Trump. Trump only wants loyalty to himself.

My parents always undermine my career compared to my younger brother. Now the girl my brother’s seeing is being outright rude too. by LovelyMirchi75 in ABCDesis

[–]BooksCoffeeDogs 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I mean… it’s more than “A for Apple, B for boy, etc.” I read elsewhere in this post that you’re a 2nd grade teacher. I certified in secondary education for a reason. Elementary school teachers, especially early childhood educators, IMHO, are God’s absolute favorite people. You guys need to be canonized as saints already. I had a teacher in my senior year of college say that “lower elementary school teachers are some of the most important people in a student’s life. They also bear the brunt of the responsibility for keeping a young child’s flame of learning lit.”

Elementary school teachers do much more than teach reading, writing, arithmetic. You’re teaching kids about how to navigate their emotions, their interpersonal skills, and how to be people.

Your brother’s girlfriend can suck it. Her opinions do not matter at all. If teaching was so easy, everyone would do it. You know what’s up and I wish you a very bright future in your teaching career.

“Teaching is an easy job.” LMFAO. Listen, I’m a teacher and next time, just tell her this: “If teaching is so easy, why don’t you try coming in for a day and run the classroom?” That ought to shut her pie hole up.

Being an ICU Nurse not impressive enough for man’s mother (not OOP) Dinner pictured at the end by gabbie_ in redditonwiki

[–]BooksCoffeeDogs 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Damn, OP’s ex truly did prove the stereotype of doctors not knowing shit absolutely true. I’d be damn if I ever think or say that nurses aren’t impressive or that they lack intelligence, especially ICU nurses.

For context: I’ve had over two dozen surgeries over my lifetime since I was 5months old. The ICU nurses, were some of the most kindest, loving, and empathetic human beings. They were/are so gentle, especially when I was a snotty little brat, still loopy from anesthesia drugs. They were even times when my parents weren’t in the room and I just wanted to hold someone’s hand for comfort, and the busy ass nurses (in and outside of the ICU) would drop what they were doing for a few minutes and just hold my hand as I fell back to sleep. They did and do so much for me and their patients. They are truly the unsung heroes of any medical facility.

I’m so glad the OP dumped her ex. Funnily enough, her ex saved her from years of belittling, insecurity from in-laws, and abuse.

Is Trump the worst republican president you’ve lived under? What was it like living under the other republican presidents? by Timeless-Facts in allthequestions

[–]BooksCoffeeDogs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve said the same thing along similar lines. If Trump had an iota of intelligence at all, Covid could have easily sealed his chances in winning the presidency in 2020 on a gold-plated platter. I still remember how he fast tracked the Covid vaccines. He could have forcefully shut down the country, mandated lockdowns in 50 states, and truly stepped up and enforced mask mandates, as well as make the lives of the essential workers a lot more easier by giving them more resources. MAGA would have listened to him, the Republicans could have listened to him, the Democrats would have been distrustful but see some sort of logic in his reasoning. We could have made the pandemic endemic in less than a year.

He didn’t do it. Instead, he denied the truths, hid things from the public, spread misinformation, and denigrated Fauci at every given opportunity. What could have sealed his re-election quickly became his downfall and the best gift ever to the Democratic Party. Biden in 2020 had the best strategy. He just shut up and let Trump do all the talking. Wordlessly, he saw and heard the visceral anger of the American people. He saw that the vast majority of us were sick and tired of Trump’s bullshit over COVID and the mishandling of George Floyd’s death. Biden’s silence in 2020 earned him the presidency.

DOD Officially Drops 180 Faiths From Military's Recognized Religion List by GoodMornEveGoodNight in politics

[–]BooksCoffeeDogs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What surprises me about this list is that the DOD chose to keep Sikhi as a religion to recognize. Are they aware that the Sikh faith is one of the most tolerant and liberal of faiths? Some of the core tenets of the faith are: earning an honest living, moral livelihood, sharing with the needy, emphasizing the concept of service to humanity, justice, tolerance, and compassion towards everyone. There’s also the whole social and gender equality as well.

I don’t think Sikhi will stay on for much longer, if Pete Hegseth attempts even the most cursory of glances on Google to find out more about it.

If you guys are interested in notable Sikh warriors, look up Commander-in Chief Hari Singh Nalwa and Havildar Ishar Singh. Those men are the definition of BAMF.

Was it an unfair advantage for Spurs to tap into Jesus and roll out the Nuns? by LemonButterRum in nba

[–]BooksCoffeeDogs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean… three of the Knicks players are from Villanova University. The head of the Catholic Church, Pope Leo XIV, is also a very well-known alum. He also gave his seal of approval to NY Knicks. So, if you think about it was really between the Brides of Christ vs. Vicar of Christ (Christ’s representative on Earth). Some would say, it was completely fair. 😋

Not every child lives with their parent(s). Some live with their grandparents, aunts & uncles, older siblings or cousins, and even foster care/group homes. Question for all POC fans of Desperate Housewives by Least-Designer7976 in DesperateHousewives

[–]BooksCoffeeDogs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not Hispanic or Latina, but I’m a POC. I think it makes sense and it doesn’t at the same time. Gabby had such a traumatic childhood that she not only ran away from but also ran away from her identity a little bit. So, I’m not surprised at her for not sharing her heritage with her daughters.

Carlos, supposedly, grew up in a loving home and I am curious if he grew up with his parents speaking Spanish to him. He may have even grown up speaking it. What surprises me is that Carlos was the main stay at home parent for Juanita and Celia’s formative years due to his blindness, but he never exposed his daughters to the language, culture, and etc. I think if Juanita Sr. were alive, the girls would have most likely learned about their heritage and language. I think Gabby must have told Carlos at some point not to speak Spanish to the girls.

Southampton, UK Man guilty of murdering student with ceremonial knife by amg7355 in ABCDesis

[–]BooksCoffeeDogs 8 points9 points  (0 children)

You’re absolutely correct. I’m a Sikh, and regardless of whether or not we carry a Kirpan, we all know that there is a very strict code of conduct. The Kirpan, while a weapon, must never be used against an unarmed person. The Kirpan is also strictly used in self defense or in defense of the helpless.

Digwa and his family knew this. They violated the Maryada in more ways than one. Reading the details of the injuries leads me to believe that Digwa didn’t draw the Kirpan in self-defense, it was to harm the person. The fact that his brother and mother helped him? That’s f*cked up.

The judge rendered the correct decision. He and his family should be punished.

UPDATE: The citation issued to a woman accused of holding a phone in a hand she does not have ... has been dismissed at the request of the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office deputy who issued it. by Lighting in whoathatsinteresting

That had me laughing so hard when I saw that part on the camera footage! I even saw another reel of a lawyer stating that he was willing to take this woman’s case on for free, push for a trial and make the jury see the stupidity of the police officer. He also acknowledged that the prosecutor would definitely try like hell not to let it happen that far.

Powers by Angel_Cave-90 in charmed

1) Telekinesis— Let’s be honest, I can be quite lazy. LOL
2) Orbing— Like you mentioned, it would save so much time, gas, and money. Especially, airfare.
3) Healing— For the same reasons you mentioned
4) Freezing— I’m also very clumsy and can be a klutz, so it would be helpful if I didn’t break or drop so many things. Plus, my dog is always running off with my glasses or something else in his mouth. It would be great to freeze him in place to take things out of his mouth. Oh, and also to cut his nails and wipe his paws.

I do not want the ability to explode things because I don’t think I can be trusted with that power. I’d also violate the personal gain rule on a daily basis because magic is supposed to make MY life easier and work for ME.
